    No Ride Home

Um, it's not that simple, "home" is an hour and a half from the hospital. It's not just as easy as calling a cab.

    Cute clothing exchange!

I'm not banded yet, but I will be within a month, and I found a great website, I can't use it yet because they only go up to 2x, but I will be using it! Personally I love the pin up girl look and the retro look, and I found www.pinupgirlclothing.com it has EVERYTHING! So if you're into that check it out. They do have "club wear" which is the sexy stuff, but I don't know what sizes they come in, and some are pretty hoochie looking, but that's a matter of personal preference.

    Sweet tooth...and the band

I'm not banded yet, but my mom is and has been for 3 years this month. For a while there she was eating candy like EVERY DAY. Lately she's cut back, I'm very proud of her, but in my opinion, your sweet tooth will not be a major problem, just monitor how much sweets you're eating, limit yourself when you need to, and keep your activity level up so that you're not just taking in empty calories and doing nothing which will lead to weight gain.

    Three-month pre-op diet with BCBS...

I'm in Texas and I have BCBS and I am NOT happy that it's now down to 3 months!! I started in January, and it was still 6!!!! I've worked my butt off for this dang surgery, and by the way, I'm still waiting on approval, but that was because my instability in my life got my psych eval denied the first time. As far as the 6 month supervised diet I did for it, I just went in and saw a nutritionist once a month that said the same 3 things every times, "cut back on sodas, chew slowly, take small bites..." I went in once a month to hear that over and over again. I never actually had to go on a diet. Hope that helps.
  5. I started the process in January of this year, finished my 6 month supervised diet, which I did nothing differently really, I've done my history and physical, I got denied the first time for my psychological evaluation, but went back last Thursday and got the call this Tuesday that I was approved. I got a call today saying I am only missing a nutritional consultation, which I go tomorrow for, once they fax my doctor the paperwork everything will be sent to my insurance. I'm expecting surgery to be in 2-4 weeks. Believe it or not, I'm starting to get really nervous. I know I have a great surgeon, my friend went through him, but this is the biggest thing/surgery I've ever done, so I am anxious to see how I will feel after I wake up. Wish me luck that everything goes smoothly and happens quickly. After almost a year, I just want it to be over with.

    I'm getting so close

Nutritional visit went well, Monday my doctor will have everything to send to BCBS and then to wait on final approval!
  8. What does this mean? Like I got my psych. clearance on Tuesday, and today the lap band doctors office called and said "well we got your psych. approval, you are a qualified candidate, but you are missing a nutritional consultation." I have the nutritional consultation under control, but what does the qualified candidate mean? Does this only have meaning w/ the doctor, or will it help with my insurance?
  9. I think my BMI's 44 or so, and I'm 23. The ONLY problem I've had getting approved (thus far) was w/ the psychological part due to my bi-polar, BUT... I got approval on try #2, got the call tuesday. I had to go through a 6 month supervised diet, all these different doctors because of my insurance. Now I go to a nutritional visit tomorrow and then hopefully I'll get my approval (fingers crossed) by the end of the week. I'm hoping to have surgery in 2-4 weeks. At this point, I've done everything I can. My only suggestion, is DON'T SOUND CRAZY!! Lie a little if you have to. I made myself sound effin' amazing the second time! Although I had made lots of progress.

    5 months to go

I got done with mine in June, and guess what, I'm still not banded. I got psych. approval this past tuesday which is what held me back and then I have to do a nutritional consult which is tomorrow. But really, I know it won't feel like it, but when you get done, it will have gone by faster than it seems. I'm looking at 2-4 weeks before surgery.

    sleep centers are a scam

OMG, I've been on a cpap for a little over a year and I can't sleep without it!! I sleep like crap if I go without my ambien, ativan, and cpap. They keep me NORMAL!! Like without those 3 I sleep for 12+ hours a night and still don't feel rested, with those 3 things I sleep 8-10 hours and feel perfectly fine when I wake up. But I don't think my weight started my sleep apnea, because the sleeping for 12+ hours a night has been a problem my entire life, I think my weight just made it worse. I do think I had to send in my records from my sleep doctor to my lap band doctor. They shouldn't have given you a surgery date if they didn't have everything in order. They did that to my mom's worker and her husband, but for a different reason. I've never been given a date, so I never had anything changed or taken away from me. I still don't have the final approval for my band. I go tomorrow for my FINAL pre-op crap for my insurance!! I'm hoping everything goes well tomorrow so that the surgery doesn't get pushed back anymore. It's already been almost a year since I started the process for my insurance, it was only supposed to take 6 months, but since I didn't have enough "stability" in my life according to some skinny witch that's never been fat!! But she was kind of right... but she gave me my approval Tuesday. Okay, that's just my .02

    2 Tall for High Heels

I'm 5'7", sometimes I think 5'8" but I have several heels, from 2"-4" and I wear them whenever I want. I don't wear the 4" hardly ever because they tend to hurt my feet more, but I rock the 2-3" heels practically ever time I'm not in work clothes.

    Where is everyone from????

I was BORN in Nacogdoches, Texas. I'm FROM Waco, Texas. But I'm LIVING in Stephenville, Texas (or HELL!!!!) I'll most likely go to law school in Alabama though. hehe that's just because they have no minimum GPA to get in!!!

    Bipolar and headed to bandland

I'm afraid being honest in my psych eval yesterday hurt my chances of getting banded. Is it possible that seperate psychological issues can get you denied for the band?
  18. are there any other women who have PCOS and have had Lap-Band? How has it helped with the PCOS? Has the PCOS made it difficult to lose the weight?
  19. I was diagnosed I think in late 2007, but didn't start treating it until January 2009. I was taking 500mg of Metformin twice a day, that didn't do anything, so then I went to 1000mg twice a day, still nothing, so now my doctor has recommended I go to an endocrinologist to figure out a better treatment, but I want to have some ideas of what other treatments there are. My PCOS has caused me to gain weight no matter what I do. I was a competitive swimmer for 5 years and swam 6 days a week for 2-3 hours a day and either maintained an overweight size or gained weight. I have to shave my chin and neck like every other day, I "shed" more than normal. I've become morbidly obese. And I have no period, speaking of no period, I actually asked my doctor to put me on birth control to where I wouldn't get a period because of the fact that since I've never in my life had a regular period I have no idea how to plan for my period, when it's coming on, etc. So those who are more educated and experienced with their PCOS... Please help me here.
  20. I am on my mom's insurance, which is blue cross blue shield. I'm 3 months in on my 6 month pre-op period, and I know that's just to determine if I'm eligible to get the surgery. My question is who else has BCBS and had to go through the 6 month process and what are my chances of being approved? I am just worried that I'll go through all of this and then I'll end up getting denied. The possibility being there really worries me.

    Dating and the band

I'm still a pre-op, but I am very open, sometimes too much so, and I am sure I will have no problem bringing up the band and my weight loss.
  22. I have 3 more monthly nutritionist appointments to go, april, may, and june. and my psychological evaluation, and then my insurance has to decide if I'm approved or denied, there's still a small chance I could be denied, and then hopefully I'll have my surgery in July. Has anyone else by chance had to do a pre-op program just to determine if they'll be approved or denied? Should I worry about the possibility of being denied or is that such a tiny chance it's nothing to worry about?
  23. I'm looking for someone similar to myself, preferably post-op. I'm 5'7", 302 lbs, from Texas, have PCOS. I need to lose 166 lbs to be okay according to the BMI, which yes I know isn't accurate.
