    Non Scale Victories

I almost forgot this one. Even at my heaviest I had small fingers. About 7 1/4. My hubby got me a new ring for Christmas. I had to have it reduced to a size 6[emoji2] HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

    Non Scale Victories

My back pain is so much better. Actually I used to be in pain all over on a daily basis. Though I still have the occasional aches. Things have improved tremendously. With the clothes. I feel like I don't know where to start. I've been shopping in plus sized shops so long the variety I now have just amazes me. HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

Off 3 diabetes medications. Knees don't hurt as bad. Wrapping a regular sized towel completely around me. Fitting in a plane seat Disney World Size 12 clothing down from 26 Zipping regular calf boots. I've probably bought 6 pair this winter. I'm waiting on over the knee boots from Macy's now. Need protein powder help!! Surgery tomorrow!

I drank the Premier shakes prior to surgery. After surgery I hated them. The texture now makes me gag. I do however like the Premier clear protein. I found them at Sam's. I think it's 20 grams of protein per bottle. Also Syntrax whey protein is good. They come in all flavors. I love them as well. I'm a person that hates flavored water but I like these. I would put the entire pack in a small bottle of water in the beginning. It was kind if thick in the small bottle but I knew I would be my protein in. I'm currently have the lemonade and caramel macchiato. I make iced and hot coffee. You can get it from Amazon. HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

    Huge Appetite...Small Stomach

Which procedure did you have? You have to eat slow and chew a lot. Try not to let food get to dry. As the other poster said add a little brother to meats to keep it moist. Also, the not drinking takes a lot of getting used to. I'm 10 months out and it's still difficult sometimes. Occasionally, I will take a tiny sip of water when eating. I'm sitting here now watching my watch waiting for 30 minutes to please pass. I ate less than 1/2 cup of well cooked red beans and a piece of a small wing cooked in the air fryer. I am extremely thirsty but I know I have to wait. It does get a little easier though. Good luck!!! HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200
  7. So.. I'm just getting back from a week at Disney with my four year old daughter and hubby. So cliche, but we had a Magical Time. The last time I was there was approximately 15 years ago. I weighed around 250+. Since then, I had gained about 80 pounds. Well, I had RNY on March 8, 2017. (The best decision of my life.) I've since lost over 100 pounds. Today, I'm down to 193.4 from 292 on surgery day. Anyway, back to my story. My first victory came on the plane. I was able to use the seat belt without an extender. You talk about excited. I didn't take the seat belt off even when the sign was off. I had extra room in my seat. After landing in Sanford/Orlando I thought wow, I don't have to turn sideways to get through the aisle. We then had to walk a long distance to get to Alamo rental cars. My husband was lagging behind and huffing and puffing. I could only think that would have been me just a year ago. I had to switch seats on the plane with my daughter because my husband was spilling over into my seat and not the other way around. Now to the hotel. We didn't go anywhere that day. We just rested. When I took my shower I was able to wrap a regular sized towel completely around my body without gaps and things hanging out. I must have walked around in that towel for 2 hours. Actually I did this every day. Who ever thought a towel could bring so much joy. On to Disney World......well the first day there we arrived around 10:00 AM and left about 10:00 PM. It was amazing. I was able to walk around for hours without being tired or in pain. By the end of the night I felt a little pain but nothing compared to before. My husband and daughter ate several times while we were there. I never ordered anything for myself. I knew I wasn't going to eat much. I just ate from their plates. This is a victory because #1 I saved us money and #2 Usually I would have ordered an entire meal and a sugary soda. (I haven't had a soda in 2017). I was able to do this for several days without the usual tiredness. The only thing I needed was water. The second day my husband was too tired to go back to Disney. I went right back and stayed another 8 hours. I was also able to walk around the outlet mall for hours without needing to stop and rest. I brought new bras in a 36 C. Down from a 42 DD. They were actually sexy bras. Now the rides. I remember riding things at Disney 15 years ago and not being afraid. Somehow I had convinced myself that I was afraid of rides. Before we left I told my family that I was going to ride every ride no matter how scary they were. I was going to ride just because I could fit in them. Now I know it was a fear of not being able to fit on the rides. I road several rides, even the kiddie rides with my daughter. I had room to spare. I was able to jump in and out of the rides like a little kid. It felt amazing. I made fairly decent food choices while i was there. I must admit I took a bite or two of some things I shouldn't have but I was able to stop after those bites. It didn't affect anything though. I still lost 2.6 pounds this week. Yay me. Tomorrow its back to my usual healthy living. My daughter hugged and thanked me a million times. She was able to get those tiny arms around my waist. No better feeling that that. I almost forgot I willingly took several pictures. I also wore a strapless dress and romper while there. Sorry for the long post and the rambling. I was about to bubble over. I had to tell someone.

  14. I had gastric bypass March 8th. So I'm almost 6 months out. As of this morning I'm down 97 pounds. To date I have lost a minimal amount of hair. This has been my biggest fear. My hair is my best feature. I have always had long, thick, and extremely healthy hair. Do you think I've made it through or is there still a chance hair loss can occur? Gastric Bypass in Memphis

Wow!!! I had rny 3/8/17. I didn't know Dr. Weaver had left to the practice. I got a letter from Cigna in September saying she was no longer in my network, not that she had left the practice. I'm coming up on 1 year. I wonder what I'm supposed to do. Should I see Dr. Wegner or try to find Weaver? Oh, the dilemma. HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

    Hair loss

I personally had minimal hair loss. I am African American and have always been blessed with extremely thick, long nearly waist length hair. Hair loss was my biggest fear. In my mind my hair was coming out by the handful. When in reality it wasn't. No one noticed. Not even the hair stylist I see bi-weekly. The shedding lasted about 2 months maybe. I faithfully took 10,000 milligrams of biotin daily and tried to get my protein in. I'm currently 10 months out. About 120 pounds down total. My hair has completely bounced back plus some. A childhood neighbor had the sleeve 6 months prior to my rny. She had to literally shave her head. This completely freaked me out. According to my sister I didn't loose any because we have good hair genes.LOL. I say it was a lot of prayer and hair treatments. Aside from the biotin I looked on you tube and made all kinds of protein concoctions weekly. I also added vitamin e oil to my conditioner. Good luck!!! HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

    Nosy coworkers

I'm a teacher as well. Yes, they are extremely nosey. I got question after questions about my weight loss. I had been out a few months prior with another surgery. I just put it on complications of that surgery. Of course I didn't tell them what that surgery was either. So you know there were many rumors. I just sat back and laughed. I didn't think it was anyone's business so I still don't budge. HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

    Hair loss

I was one of the lucky one s that didn't loose a great deal. I noticed it but I don't think anyone else did. It will grow back to it's beautiful state. Just think of what you are gaining. It's only temporary. HW 330 SW 292 CW 185 GW below 200

    Any regrets??

I have no regrets. I just wish I had done it years ago. I'm currently 185 pounds. Down from my highest weight of 330 pounds. My life is brand new. I'm off of 3 different diabetes medications, 2 blood pressure meds, and acid reflux meds. I can run and enjoy my 5 year old. I feel like I have a second chance at life.
