It is not generally associated with the sleeve, but it does happen. It is far more common (hence the association) with bypass. If a sleeve patient drinks something high in sugar and/or fat, say something like chocolate milk or milk shake, dumping is a strong possibility. I have not personally read or heard of any band patients experiencing it though. It wouldn't make much sense either since the food stays in the stomach after seeping through the banded portion.
Thanks for sharing. I had no idea and it's nice to know. [emoji3]

I've done quite a bit of reading and told by 2 dr's that dumping isn't associated with gastric sleeve only bypass. Don't get me wrong - still shouldn't be eating ice cream.

I used to live on Coke Zero but I've been off them for a month and don't miss them. At first it was hard but after the first 2 weeks it got easier. I'm pre-op so I don't know this for a fact but supposedly it also makes you gasier if you can actually stomach the carbonation. Also, anything with caffeine is said to make you hungry.

I also struggled to eat right on the weekends preop.
I am about 3 months postop and I have found it is MUCH easier to stick to healthy eating postop. I still get cravings but I can squash them much more easily. Portion Control is much easier too. It's still a lot of hard work but I am finding it to be much easier postop.
Thank you. I was hoping that would be the case.
