    SF ice cream?

Well you'll probably be ok try a few bites slowly to see how you handle it...maybe stay near the bathroom just in case [emoji5]; . What worries me a little is your 6 days out and while ice cream is soft it does have a consistency so that can feel weird at first so be careful!!! Alcoholic Drinks

Doesn't it burn though? I took Nyquil the other night and felt like my stomach was on fire! I can't imagine how a shot of whiskey or vodka would feel [emoji44][emoji43][emoji37] ...maybe I'm just not a good drinker. I've heard Red wines supposed to be good for your heart. XD so you know...two birds and all that SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017
  4. Actually my doctor recommended regular popsicles when I first had my surgery and was sent home on a liquid diet. I am diabetic however. So my Blood sugar would get into the low 70's and yeaaaah...that was super not fun. Usually like a popsicle or half of a popsicle would help me pop back out of it. However now when I want something sweet I tend to go for fruit, without the skin since I'm on soft foods. (especially apples ((they call it natures candy!))). Also I've tried freezing ripe bananas and blending them with peanut butter to make ice cream! So if you get desperate for sweets on Soft foods I recommend trying that. (But you know....the sugar free jello ain't bad) SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017
  5. Um, hopefully I dont sound too crunchy. But I always find yoga and deep meditation helps me when I'm stressed or irritated. Perhaps these alternative might help to deal with It? As far as birth control I know we can't take it because of out stomach but I know there are patches/shots/and or IUD it might be something to think about discussing with your doctor.I know not everyone is comfortable with that method so no worries! Other then that hold fast!!!! I know sometimes I felt like I almost would get hangry when I was in my first 2 months. SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017

    Dreaming About Cookies

Hahaha yeah post op liquid stage dreams are pretty normal from the sound of it. I had some crazy food dreams. It goes away once you start being able to chew again! Stay strong(and don't watch cooking shows ; ) SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017
  8. I'm 28 and I think I definetly wouldn't have been ready if I had done it in my early 20's despite being pretty overweight. I just wasn't mature enough or emotionally ready(or had that ah-HA! Moment) everyone moves at their own pace with these things and do their research before making a desicion. SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017

    why no soda??

I'm gonna probably echo a lot of what's been said. It will stretch your stomach out (like just make you feel full not make it bigger) and it's like swallowing air so imo it causes bad gas(bloating and such) LOL. Also and this is the biggest factor. It leeches calcium from your bones that can cause problems and conditions later on in life. It's not smart it's empty calories and high in sugar too. But if your really craving something sweet how about some ice tea or lemonade? SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017

    Liquid diet....

Right after the surgery because of the anesthesia and such it was super high. I had to be given insulin while I was in recovery(apparently that's normal). Now granted pre surgery I had just found out I had (type 2) diabetes. After surgery I would wake up and my morning readings would be in the 70s which was way too low. I had to actually eat some normal popsicles to get it back up(because at the time that's what my surgeon suggested). Now I wake up and it's about 90-98 pretty normal readings and I've switched back over to sugar free cause I want to keep it that way! XD hope this helps!

Dates that don't revolve around food

Well you know (and let me say this isn't an attack on you ok) you kinda come across as a bit of a negative kind of person. People in general don't gravitate towards that type of person. They want someone who is going to encourage them not bring em down! Try looking on the bright side! It sounds like you've got some great things going for you with your weightloss you've accomplished on your own and you are taking steps for some self care. The only reason people suggest these support groups is sometimes it helps being with people who have had the same struggle because you can relate and maybe meet someone. But yeah if your just going looking to get laid or something your going to be dissapointed. Like I said previously stop looking so hard for love and let it come to you. Dates that don't revolve around food

Tbh Sgc you've kind of derailed the original topic on conversation for OP, and that's sorta not cool man. Like I understand your frustration of not being able to find an SO but people here and in your own thread have really tried to help you out with suggestions. Also Bariatric patients are normal your talking like we got three heads or something. If your content with being single then what's the problem? Just live your life make friends and let love come to you stop chasing it so hard. It's almost like your just focusing too hard on it right now. Just continue on your weigh loss journey and keep your head up. Being in a relationship isn't the end all be all, and if you were miserable before it won't fix things. Ya know? Liquid diet....

Liquid diet huh. Popsicles really got me through it and jello. Chicken broth when I needed something savory. But it was still hard. Especially after surgery cause the taste of the whey made me cringe and my blood sugar was so low I would just lay around. x.x BUT the popsicles were a godsend XD; SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017

    successful sleevers?

I mean Emle has a point. You are still going to be dealing with a food addiction even after the surgery. You won't be able to eat as much and at first no matter what you do you'll pretty much loose weight(within reason.). But that doesn't mean you can't stretch that new stomach out and or gain the weight back. I'm only about 4 months out from the gastric sleeve and I have lost a lot of weight. I do not want to go back to the way I was. It's what motivates me to continue to make the right food choices and find suitable alternatives and deal with what causes me to over eat/eat junk. Your stomach and how it handles food will change, there will be stuff you use to love to eat that will make you feel sick. I.E. cause dumping. This surgery is a tool to help but you will still have to work on a lot yourself and stick to the rules of your post op care. SW: 328 CW: 256 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017

Dates that don't revolve around food

I know some people have social anxiety(like myself lol) where it's hard to respond right away. Sometimes I'll read something from an interested party and just like not know what to say. So I'll walk away for a bit or leave it till the next day. I do think it's better to be upfront when your not interested but at the same time, yeah I've totally been on the receiving end of some rude comments when the men get turned down. Or think their doing YOU a favor by paying attention. [emoji47]; I mean come on I'm fat not desperate. So I can totally see the whole ghosting thing. Dates that don't revolve around food

I've never really dated anyone (I'm kind of awkward and out in SoCal I just kind of have always been the funny fat girl) but I do go out and hang with my friends in non food situations!!! What about an outside activity like the beach or hiking, or like museums or aquariums? Or even like a theatre play? Those are always fun c: SW: 328 CW: 261 GW: 150 Surgery date: January 12, 2017
  17. YEP, I also supposedly have alopecia...at this rate I won't have hair left! It's a little terrifying tbh. I'm trying to use rogaine, taking all my multivitamins and biotin. I'm hoping it's more hormone based and all the weight-loss will level me out and my hair will finally grow back.
  18. So I had gastric sleeve surgery back in January. I really didn't want to tell anyone/ I wasn't ready to tell the world. I'm still not. However I tried to let my immediate family know mainly my mom my dad and by brother who is married. Now my problem is second hand I hear that my Sister in law has told her whole side of the family(the in laws)....I'm not really ok with that. Actually I'm super upset, to hear that. Like I'm not stupid I've lost like 50 pounds in 3 months. I know I can't hide it forever. But I really am sad that she didn't respect my privacy about the issue. I'm going to have to face them all next week at a party and I'm just super anxious because to be honest I do not want to discuss it with them.....any tips to deal with like... them being nosey stuff? I'm trying not to be mad I guess technically their family but really? Why blab my buiseness to anyone? when I had made it a point to keep it quiet.
  19. Thanks guys you all bring up very valid and good points. I know what's done is done and as much as I'd like to go back before she said anything and keep her from doing it I can't. I'm trying to move past being upset about it as well. My SIL is married to my only brother so cutting her out wouldn't work for me. I'd hate to loose access to my niece and nephew who I love dearly. SO, gotta play nice :C however I love the tips for tiptoeing around talking about the sleeve and still remaining polite. I'm not ready to talk about it yet and am hoping I won't need to deflect either at the party.
  20. Also to add....am I just over thinking it? Am I making a big deal out of nothing?
  21. So right now I'm back at home while I do the surgery and recover I'm 55 days out from surgery. I had the sleeve done and I'm on soft foods, my mother has been super supportive. Also she's driving me crazy. So basically whatever I'm eating I'll serve myself and sometimes when I would puree or cook myself something it would make a few days serving. I won't serve myself all of it but let's say for an example I'll serve myself a bowl of soup a serving size worth. Often times my mother will say "You are serving too much for yourself! You can't eat all that." I know. I know I can't eat all of that I never do. I will eat until I'm satisfied and put the rest away for later. Because usually I can eat half a serving of whatever then I'll go back and use the rest as one of my snacks it's easier for me to calorie/protien count that way. I don't think that's unreasonable? I dunno should I measure it better? I'm being careful what I'm eating and I'm not stuffing myself by any means. How do you guys measure out your food? Am I doing something wrong?
  22. Thanks for the feedback guys!
  23. This might sound super silly....but I keep having dreams of eating things I can't have! Is this happening to anyone else? For instance, I just woke up from a dream in which I ate an entire pizza with ranch and parmesean. Im about 40 days out from surgery. These dreams are killing me!! [emoji25][emoji31][emoji22][emoji24](I don't even think normally I could have eaten a whole pizza....[emoji47])

    Vivid dreams?

XD I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Also as of last Friday I officially moved to the soft foods stage. It's helped quite a bit with the dreams cause I feel like I'm actually eating. (Not much but better then nothing)
  25. The doctor should give you a handout, or let you know! But just incase you should be able to have low sodium broth(chicken, beef, and vegetable), sugarfree Popsicles, and sugar free jello and sugar free cranberry juice. You should also get protien drinks like isopure or nectar. They fall under the clear liquids category more so then protien drinks that are like....milky. once gain make sure and talk to your surgeon because he should be going over this with you before your surgery! Hope that helps!
