I think 2 weeks is fine, that's what my surgeon recommends to all of his patients. It also depends on how you feel, some feel fine after one week. Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure how your body will take it. I would recommend taking the 2 weeks off, and if you're feeling better after one week, see if they can adjust your pto and get you back into work early. Better to be safe than sorry

In the months before my surgery i set money aside to cover the time off I needed because I don't get any paid time off.

I also work a desk job, I thought I would be able to go back to work after one week since my job is fairly easy. However I was very wrong, I had a very rough recovery, I was in a lot more pain than I thought I would be in and I'm lucky my boss was understanding and let me take an extra week off. Although I did take it unpaid for both weeks, my body needed that time to recover

Honestly one of the main reasons that I want to go back on the pill is because it helped with my breakouts. I'm not sure how the other birth control methods work and if they also help with breakouts

I asked about my nose ring and if I was allowed to were a plastic retainer in place during the surgery since my nose piercing would close up right away. He told me that was fine, and I took out all of my other piercings. Just about everything else they covered before I even had to ask, they were very very thorough at my pre op appt.

Thanks! I will talk to my surgeon at my next appt and see what he says, I may look into alternatives to the pill

I was sleeved on Jan 30th and I am considering going back on birth control pills. Does anyone know how soon it would be safe to do so?

Thank you! Very helpful!

What does everybody eat for the soft foods stage? I feel like I'm stuck on Protein Shakes and apple sauce still. What are some healthy soft foods options?
-
Thank you!!! This saves me so much time!

So I know that I'm not supposed to drink anything half an hour before, during, and half an hour after my meals. But do my Protein Shakes count as a meal in that sense? Is it important to wait the 30 minutes before and after drinking the shakes? Just plain Premier Protein shakes not blended with anything

Thank you. I have my one month appt on the 27th and hopefully I will get cleared to do more, in the mean time I will try walking at a faster pace to get my heart rate up and see if that helps

I had the same issue, I was taking miralax everyday but it did not work for me. I even tried drinking some diluted prune juice, which did give me the urge to go BUT i still couldn't. The only thing that helped was going off of the pain medication. About 2 days after taking no pain medication I was able to go to the bathroom again and can go regularly now

Are you still taking pain medicine?

Does anybody know, about how active I should be and/or what type of exercise I can do at this point? I had my surgery 1/30 so I'm 16 days post op. Before surgery I worked out regularly 3-5 times per week mostly cardio, and strength training once a week. And I did this mainly to control my stress and anxiety. I was told that I shouldn't go back to that routine for a minimum of 8 weeks. However, since not being able to work out, and being back to work now, a lot of my stress and anxiety is coming back but now I have no way to de-stress...

Thanks I will check this out! If we can't eat that much we should at least be able to have a wide varietyIn addition to popsicles, I made lots of shaved ice / sno cones. This $30 dollar gadget from Amazon works pretty well.

I have heard that your tastes can change a lot after surgery and things you liked before surgery you may not like after. So far I still like the crystal light, and my Premier Protein shake. It's just uncomfortable going down. I feel like I'm forcing it down. I haven't had any hunger or cravings, and if it were up to me I'd just sleep all day and not consume anything but obviously I know I can't do that lol. Hopefully my swelling goes down soon because right now I can't even imagine consuming anything thicker than the shakes.< /p>

Thanks I will try that!

Hello! I'm 3 days post op and I'm struggling to get in enough fluids. I'm at about 24 ounces of fluids for the day so far, that includes Water and Premier Protein shake. I woke up at about 6am, tried to keep up with taking sips every 5 minutes, but I did take a nap for about 2 hours and got a little off track after that. I know I'm supposed get in about 64 ounces a day and I'm no where near that right now. Has anybody else has trouble with this? I was easily drinking at least 64 ounces of water or more pre op

No problem! Good luck! ????

I did the advocare 24 day Challenge twice in 2015. I really enjoyed the diet because it allowed me to have whole grain bread and Pasta, potatoes, fruit and vegetables. So that made it much easier to stick to. The shakes taste great, I recommend the chocolate mocha flavor. The worst part about the challenge is the first 10 days that you have to drink the Fiber Water. It tastes disgusting! I would mix it with just enough water, and I'd mix a little bit of crystal light with it, shake it up really fast and then chug it. If you let it sit at all it turns into a gel. I'm not sure how fast you can get down 6-8 ounces of water now, but I just got sleeved 2 days ago and I can barely get in 4 ounces in a hour

Thank you, I was nervous when they wanted to take me off the morphine because of how much pain I was in but I do feel slightly better today and I'm able to stay awake today thankfully
Hernia question

Has anybody gotten a hernia after surgery due to too much strain? If so, how does it feel and what are the symptoms?
My surgery was on 1/30 and I haven't done any core exercises yet but lately I haven't been sticking to the 20lb lifting restriction like I should. I was told to continue the lifting restriction until the end of this month. However, I got really sick of always asking others to help me with moving things or picking things up etc, so I just started doing it myself. Now, this past week I've started feeling this pain in my abdominal area. It's not severe pain but it is uncomfortable and not something I've felt before. Should I be worried?
