  1. I can let you know tomorrow? my surgery is in the morning, just at flew in a few hours ago. I'm with Dr.Ariel Ortiz with the OCC, for anybody that's curious, Tijuana is a ****-hole, but the Marriott they put you up in is gorgeous! They'll feed you broth, whether you want it brought to your room or served to you in the restaurant so your companion can also eat. There's a wal-mart super close by. The hotel will bring me popsicles and Jello anytime, and the bathrooms are nice and big!! Unfortunately the woman I came with who brought her son went to a different hotel because the Marriott is full right now, so I don't have a surgery buddy unless I see her tomorrow.

Good luck! I am so excited for you! I hope you are as calm as you can be tonight and that the surgery goes without a hitch!

  2. This thread is a great idea! How would you guys feel about a private July surgery Facebook group? It might make keeping track of things easier

Hi, there's a private fb group already, but anyone can actually look for it and see the actual members! I just clicked on it and was able to see the names and pics and the ppl that have joined. I'm a "secret sleeved" so I dnt necessarily feel comfortable with joining if, since other ppl can't see the post, but they can see my name and pic of the look under the member section

  3. Hi everyone, just here counting the days till July 12th, I had my pre op class last week, and I just go out of my pre op appt with my surgeon. I told him I'm open this weekend, but I guess I'll have to wait till the 12th! Lol the office actually gave me a spirometer to practice breathing and limit my chances of pneumonia, along with some wipes. He told me I need to be on an all liquid diet 24hrs before the surgery and no liquids after midnight. He also ordered a pregnancy test, 5 days before the surgery. Good luck to everyone!!

  4. I think support from the other people going through this is important, and I want everyone to be able to connect with the people who might be going through this at the same time if you want. So this isn't meant to be more than informative in case you want to message or follow people having surgery in July. If I've made any mistakes I apologize, just message me and I can edit the list [emoji4] There are certainly noticeably busy days! If you'd like to be added msg me, again sorry if I got an incorrect date, I just wanted to try and help because there are a lot of threads about July, and it's fast approaching. Good luck and speedy recovery everyone :780_sparkling_heart:

Thank you so much for taking the initiative and organizing this extensive and beautiful list!!

  5. Has anyone heard of or tried the Myer cocktail? My daughter and I were told about it when she had the sleeve done so she could get her Vitamins through IV

Hi I am actually thinking about doing that after my surgery. I contacted a naturopathic doctor and he recommended one before and after. Another naturalopathic doctor recommended one 4 days post op since I am taking my vitamins. I'm still debating it since it is a little pricey.

  6. I've been thinking about this issue as well. I'm have surgery 7/3 and my annual girls beach trip is on 8/10. I haven't told them about the surgery yet. Debated telling last Wednesday at our monthly dinner but chose to wait. Guess the cat will be out of the bag pretty quick. Me and my GF who is an expectant mom will be their DD. [emoji4]

hi I'm on the same boat! My friends and I have a beach trip a few weeks after my surgery!

  7. Hi everyone I completed my 12 week Kaiser insurance Options class on May 9th I finally have my surgeon appointment today at 4:30 I am so excited I can't believe it is finally here I am hoping he does not put me on a long liquid diet I have lost 55.8 pounds since I started this process on Feb 7th 2017 SW 291 CW 235.2 I probably need to lose about another 80 pounds so I am hoping he will only put me on a 3 day liquid diet. I will post another post after I get done and hopefully have a surgery date.

    Congrats!!!!

  8. Hi everyone, so I've been planning a nice Caribbean vacation with a couple of friends for this summer, but I'm nervous since I might be sleeved by that time.

I'm hoping to get my surgery in late May, early June and traveling for a week abroad in late July. Is that too soon to go abroad?

If you traveled soon after your surgery, what was your experience like?

Or how long did you wait to go abroad?

  9. Has there been any changes, stress, lack of sleep, etc? These things can hinder weight loss. Not staying properly hydrated? Even not eating enough? Is there too much sodium in your diet? that'll cause Water retention.
About to start that time????? Also, doesn't help.

Thanks! My cycle is going to happen in 3wks, and as for the sodium, I'm not a fan of salt so that will be minimal. I weighted myself again today and the scale kept going up, then down, then up again. I'm planning on just having a shake for Breakfast, dinner and a light lunch and see if anything budges. I'm just sad since I have my pre op consult tomorrow and wanted to be writhing 5lbs of my goal. I usually drink between 90 to 140 oz of water daily. Soooo I dnt know what could be it! But I'll def. look into your recommendations!

  10. Hi everyone, so my doctor recommended a 10% loss before surgery in February, I fortunately had loss 10 lbs since December, but I've been stuck for the past 2.5 weeks with no weight loss, last time I weighted myself I was 277.8 but for the past few days I've been in the 280s. I have been exercising, following the diet and logging my food into an apt which tells me I'm having about an average of 1500 calorie deficit, but still no budge.

I first though it was just Water weight, but it's been a couple of days and I'm starting to feel very disheartened and emotional.

Any help, tips will be appreciated it!

  11. If you lose the weight relatively quickly, this summer is very possible. The waiting is also dependent on if they hire a new psychologist soon or not. They have been shorthanded for a while so I would hope that they are getting close to finding someone new. Other kaisers were helping out by doing some of the psych evals for fremont but last I heard, they pulled back and said they couldn't help anymore.

I didn't start losing weight until a week AFTER I met with my surgeon(I met him the day before Christmas eve so enjoyed my holidays before getting serious). I lost 40lbs in my first 7 weeks. Once 1/1/17 hit, I went straight down to 1200cals. I have not had a soda, carbonated beverage, caffine, alcohol, fast food etc since. I added in a lot of the staples that they say are helpful post surgery, Greek yogurt, string cheese, eggs, etc and made sure i got my Protein in from a lot of different sources. You could probably cut carbs and lose quicker but I didn't. I went high protein, low carb. I tracked my protein intake but not my carb intake, just kinda avoided excess carbs. I still have a piece of toast every morning but I don't usually have a carb with dinner.< br>
2 thing to remember. 1, the most important part pre op is to build the right habits. A lot of people who do extreme dieting to lose weight preop quickly, really struggle with post op. You are dropping to 1200 cals, you will lose weight quickly regardless if you cut out all the carbs or not. 2, you have to maintain and continue to lose weight throughout the whole process. Especially because they are backed up, you can't gain weight after you hit goal. If they don't see you under your goal weight and continuing your weight loss progress, they won't approve the surgery. So however you decide to lose weight, it has to be sustainable.

Thank you for this! I started my process in early February with Kaiser SSF and I'm not kidding! The diet part has been hard! It's been a slow process but I'm not giving up! I have about 17lbs more to go!and like you, I started focusing on my protein but I can't cut carbs.
