  1. I drink decaf coffee with Splenda and fat free Fairlife milk. I never drank coffee before my sleeve surgery. Now I can't get enough! My question is, do I count it as water/fluid intake for the day?

    Bad back

    Sent you a message
  3. Hi. I had sleeve on 1/16/17, and I had zero problems. No pain and no complications. I am 68, and the main reason I wanted to lose a lot of weight is because of a bad back. I cannot stand for long, and walking is not easy. I am really hoping losing weight will help my back! Anyone with same problem? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Bad back

I had x-rays and MRI. I have degenerative discs. Back probably injured from dealing with hubby's wheelchair. Physical therapy not helping much. Shot didn't work. That is why I thought losing weight would be helpful.

    Bad back

Kar12345, I feel for you! Take care. Back pain can prevent us from doing so much, and I don't know about you, but I get really depressed about it. I have degenerative discs, and was using a walker most of the time. Since surgery I can go on short walks without it. My dr. Is sending me to physical therapy, where I get on the anti gravity treadmill. Seems to help. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Protein

I heard that any Protein consumption over 30 g turns into fat. All of the protein you take in does get utilized. Protein beyond what your body needs to replenish its amino acid pool (or can put to use for muscle building) is metabolized into glucose and used for energy. And whenever you have more food energy than you need, the surplus is stored as fat. Nothing is wasted. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  13. I lost 60 lbs in the 5 months before surgery. I knew I would just gain it all back without the surgery. I want to lose at least 75 more pounds. I love reading the success stories and find them very encouraging. I had surgery on 1/16/17, and I have not lost anything since. I am so afraid this will not work. I am 68, and have a bad back, so exercising is not easy. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Scared

I had no pain at all. The " worst" was a slight discomfort, sort of like a sore muscle. That only lasted a day, though. I even went back to sleeping on my stomach the second day. No gas, no nausea. If it weren't for the five little incisions I would doubt I had surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    A little sugar that bad?

I asked my dr what creamer she used in her coffee. She said CREAM! She said if you look, cream has less sugars than anything else, including skim milk, and you actually need to use less of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    surgery tomorrow

Best of luck to you! I had mine on Jan. 16th, and it was the easiest surgery I've ever had. No pain, and almost no downtime. They even found and fixed a hernia, which my surgeon said was not uncommon. You will do great, and you will be so happy you did it! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  20. I am 11 days out of sleeve/hernia surgery. I never had any pain at all, and I even sleep on my stomach. I have no problem getting liquids down. My only concern is that in those eleven days of existing on liquids, I have not even lost one pound! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery date 3/1!

I was worried too, because I am the primary caregiver to my handicapped husband. My doctor said I'd be back to driving in a week, but I actually drove 2 days after surgery. I never had pain, and I feel well enough to do whatever I was doing before surgery. I can grocery shop and run short errands. I just have not attempted to push his wheelchair yet. The doctor said I could, and that I could lift 25 lbs. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  24. I am 12 days out, and I have no problem drinking 11-12 oz. at one time. The doctor assured me fluids cannot stretch the sleeve. I am just concerned that I can take in so much without feeling full. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
