  1. I am having trouble wrapping my brain around daily dieting and exercising after getting the sleeve. Is this a sign that I shouldn't do this? I went to my second appt with the nutritionist yesterday and had only lost a pound and a half. I did pretty well with eating and exercising but dang it is hard! I'm not as excited as I was a month or so ago. I'm not planning to get sleeved until this summer. Any advice? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I researched the balloon a little today. I kinda like the idea of it but it is such a new concept that insurance doesn't cover it yet. I do think they offer some financing options like care credit and the like. The balloon is inserted and inflated during an endoscope and later removed the same way. The balloon takes up about 1/3 of the stomach but there is a dual one available as well. There is a liquid diet a few days before and after. The procedure only last about 20 minutes under local anesthesia. The first few days after procedure sound very rough such as gas, bloating and many people vomit for a couple of days but then it seems to get a lot better. It is suggested to take a week or two off work. It is removed 6 months later. During that 6 months while you are losing weight you are going to classes learning about nutrition and exercise. Going to give it some thought and pray about all of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I don't know anyone who has it. I am going to search the web and see what is on there about it. Will try to share my thoughts after I do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Thanks I think I may research the balloon. My family suggests the lapband but i said absolutely not! I have never heard anything good about them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. AnneElliot Just wondering: do you have a low tolerance for pain? Also, I thought most Bariatric surgeons require a BMI of 50 to do gastric bypass surgery now that the sleeve is more popular. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. AnneElliot, Thank you so much for your honesty! I really appreciate it! All of the things that you mentioned have weighed heavily on my mind recently. I haven't read/heard that many people say anything negative except for that short time afterward when they regretted it but say that passed. I wonder if more people feel the way you do but are too embarrassed or whatever to admit it. How long ago was your surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Short girl here too! 5'2" 230 lbs with fat belly that I hate! I love all the above comments! I love that colorful language! I'm like that too! Most people I tell are happy for me but some have said "oh no you don't need to do that just eat right and exercise" Really? You don't think I have tried that more times than I could count? Duh! That's why I want to get the surgery so I can diet and exercise more easily and without pain to lose the weight and have it stay the f*** off of me! Hugs to all y'all! You will do fine. Deep breaths and prayer or meditation should help. I will be praying for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Seraya, it is weird how the drs and insurance companies all do things so differently from one another. The only thing I have done so far is the seminar, consult w/the surgeon and my first visit with the nutritionist. I only see her once a month for six months then do all the others you mentioned. I didn't have to schedule all of those right away. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Advice

My family and a few friends know I want to do this. Everyone is supportive. I do understand though what it is like to have a family member tell you how much you need to lose weight at least once a month. That same person has never had to lose weight. Same person offered to pay what insurance doesn't but I am not accepting because I know how it will be reigned over me and every morsel of food I put in my mouth watched when around said person. Been thru something similar with this family member before but not again. Almost ruined our relationship! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
