  1. I am so sorry While you aren't caught up in the whirlwind of emotion, it would be good to put a constructive outlet in place. Make a plan. Heavy physical work helps me (I have anger issues). Look for something that you can do for a couple hours that will leave you better than you started, and no longer having the need for self sabotage. Sitting and eating is a very passive activity that leaves you feeling worse than when you started. Something like going to the gym gives you an outlet that helps you feel better about yourself. (Look, I walked farther on the treadmill, or lifted 5 more pounds than last week). If the gym doesn't appeal, there are so many activities... arts, crafts, puzzles, reading, volunteering... [Hugs] You will find your way!
  2. The doctor hasn't checked for strictures or ulcers? Are you able to keep down liquids? Heartburn and reflux with a rny bypass? You sound miserable, but more info is needed.
  3. You will need to eat 4-5 times a day, protein first, veggies, and complex carbs. Try to stay away from fruit and simple carbs. Aim for 1200cal if you haven't been eating that many. Of course have orange juice on hand to bring up a low blood sugar, then follow with a regular meal. Glad you are seeing the doctor. Let us know what he says.
  4. Outside... I guess I'm confused. Leggings are the devil, but you would only have bought workout leggings. Are there different types of leggings?
  5. Sorry you had such a rough start Glad you are now feeling better! Ginger ale... not just for morning sickness! Do you drink it flat?
  6. I don't think anyone should consider the band. I think more are removed every day than placed. Too many complications. I think the sleeve is becoming the main go-to procedure. For those that already have acid reflux, the RNY bypass would be better. A good surgeon's opinion will be the most helpful for your particular situation.
  7. Prepare yourself for a prolonged recovery. I swear the nips and tucks are rougher than the bariatrics! You'll do great! Congrats!
  8. I like the net carb system because fiber is so lacking in our diets that to reject a low sugar bar due to high fiber content would be counter-productive.
  9. You'll find that everyone has different diets.. preop and post op. So many variables between surgeons! And, each surgeon probably makes it different between patients based on individual BMIs.
  10. Definitely let your surgeon know. They may want you to take a test to be sure you didn't hurt yourself. At the very least, you need to go back to thin liquids for a couple days to give your stomach a rest.
  11. I also think the revision is a good idea for you. Even if you want to take more time considering, I highly recommend you get the band removed. It isn't helping, and it will likely cause complications down the road (like slippage, etc).
  12. My tat is on my upper arm. Very few people know I even have one.
  13. I thought this was going to be a post about hemorrhoids 8-)
  14. I plan to ease back into the gym after... no pain meds required yes, won't be winning any toughman awards, but think I'll survive
  15. This would be a good poll question. Yes, I had a 33 BMI when I graduated from high school.
  16. Well, I saw your photos, and can see a difference! Maybe put the before pics away for a while so you can see them again with fresh eyes in the future You are doing great!
  17. Get plenty of new photos and videos of yourself. Compare new pics/ old pics... not mirror/old pics. Mirrors lie! They show you what is in your head instead of reality. Photos and video tell the truth. If you are familiar with Harry Potter, Harry finds a magic mirror that shows this concept to a tee... The other problem is we are sensitive to fat vs. thin... not fat vs. fatter, vs. fattest ... as long as there is an ounce of fat, that's what we see. I think this is where BMI and body composition measures come in handy for our population. It is easier to see how your #s compare to an "ideal" then to recognise ideal when you see it. And, even if we never quite make "ideal", we can still see, numerically, that we are closer than we were, and thus the efforts weren't in vane.
  18. This deserves the start of a sticky... 1001 [WRONG] reasons you look like a million bucks! 1. Drugs 2. Tapeworm
  19. Oh man, this thread has taken a terrifying turn! Alka seltzer! Oh man... According to my discharge instructions, soft fish chewed to a pureed consistency would begin at 3 weeks. It seems my plan advances more quickly than most do too.
  20. Don't forget, your stomach might still be numb. It won't finish healing until 8-9 weeks out. Just keep doing what you have been. Weigh, measure, puree, and chew. You are golden!
  21. Pain meds are important because when you are comfortable, you will move more, moving more helps with the gas and healing process. If you are immobile from pain, you will have a prolonged recovery. Just take the meds as prescribed for the first 3-5 days at least. For those that have had problems with addiction before, let the doc know so the correct med can be prescribed.
  22. 3 ounces of protein food and a couple ounces of cooked vegetables sounds about right. Total about 1/2 cup.
  23. General body coldness is definitely a side effect of the surgery. I imagine that goes for fingers and toes too. Hope you don't mind wearing layers!
  24. Yes, you are heavier because of the IV fluids. The discomfort will be much better in 2 weeks, and all better around a month out. You might be more uncomfortable the first few days while your body realizes it has undergone trauma. Congrats, and good luck!
  25. The yo-yo dieting has really done a number on your metabolism. The surgery should still work, but you should expect to be an extra-slow loser. A good, experienced NUT will help you figure out your best course. Good luck!
