So I found these cookies today. They are called "My Cookie". They have 18 gms protein, I was so focused on the protein that I didn't pay attention to the carbs. What's your input. Are these ok, or finish them and find something different.
-
Thanks. 600 calories seem so low. I'm usually around 900-1000. Although sometimes it's hard to keep accurate calories, like when I eat an apple but can't finish the last 2 slices. But I'll enter one apple in my fitness pal.

It's not that I really want a cookie. I just thought it might be a nice alternative to a traditional protein bar. I'm just looking for higher protein options bc I know that I'm not getting enough in. Also my nut never gave me specific numbers for the carbs, just protein 60 gms.

One Month Out- Eating A LOT
hmills653 replied to JanetNBama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I definitely have to make a conscious effort. Maybe make sure you're drinking enough in between eating. This may help. But protein is a good choice if you're eating. Is also told of you eat the protein first it'll sit heavy to block the stomach opening then add the veggies in next. Certain protein will fill me up faster. -
Surgery Nov 16 - SAHM with 2 little kids, support challenges, struggling with preop diet

Luckily, mine are in high school so they were more of a help. If only one of them had a license we'd have been set. I suggest if you don't already drink bottled water, pick some up. After surgery it tasted better than tap water. I got the little 6 oz bottles to sip. I'd say by 3 weeks I was feeling pretty good and ready to do a little more. -
Preparing for Surgery when you have a family

Yes be careful, I had my daughter carry the laundry upstairs for me and I folded it, but soon learned the bending forward motion to get clothes from the basket made me really sore. -

Freezer meals would be a great idea for the first week. If you have a stool or chair to put by the stove if you feel weak you should be fine. I was fine cooking pretty early on. It's just harder when you're on liquids and want to eat weekday you're cooking for everyone else. Crock pot dinners are good also and you can have some of the broth from whatever you make as well. -
I know I drifted the last few weeks to cereal and chips. I went this week and bought eggs and protein shakes and protein crisps to eat instead. I know I need to get to the gym also. Need to set a date for that.

Yes. I was told at my support group last night that lots of water helps to flush the fat out of our system as we lose weight.

I'm glad lol, bc I started back on coffee about 2 weeks ago and it makes me happy. [emoji4] -
What did you take to hospital?
hmills653 replied to readyforachange66502's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Chapstick, pony tail, glasses, phone charger, comfy stretchy pants to wear home post op. You won't be there long enough to really need much and I was too miserable to watch tv or read our anything. -
Traveling after surgery?
hmills653 replied to emgem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on vacation at 6 weeks out. I felt great. You should be good by 4 wks just plan for your food according to what you can tolerate at that time. If you can go shipping instead of eating out that would be easier for you. But at 4 wks I had energy and felt well enough to travel. -
I haven't found anything I like that I hadn't prior, but I found that sweets such as ice cream don't seem to taste as good to me anymore. Its like eh, I'll pass.
-
That's funny bc every day at dinner now I say to husband, do you want the rest of my plate, I can't finish it. Its a good feeling.
-
So I had the metal taste also. Narrowed it down to one of two things bc they both changed befor it wrong away. Either my iron level was too high (it was double the normal high level) or it was my calcium chews bc I switched to tablets artound the same time a stopping my iron supplements. I don't get that metallic taste anymore though.

He should make you feel like a goddess at any weight. I could grow another head and my husband would tell me that's just extra beauty or something to make me feel good. Maybe seeing a marriage counselor as well might be helpful. -
people at work laugh at me whenI stop with a couple bites left on my plate but they don't know that 3 more bites can put you in pain.

Looking for relief in my pain
hmills653 replied to Yolanda Smith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry. I used the gas x strips, but if its trapped gas from surgery that won't effect it, but that should've resolved by now. For constipation, I started off with generic colace 3 a day and kept an enema in the cupboard for when it would get really bad. And I would occasionally take my pain meds if I was feeling crappy but they can be constipating as well so be careful. Be sure you take all vitamins. Don't eat or drink too soon before lying down. I hope you feel better soon. -
Been there done that

I never had issues before surgery. But I work 12-14 hr shifts. I found if I eat shortly before going to bed I'm in trouble. I actually woke up choking on acid that came up into my mouth. As long as I don't eat within an hour of lying down I'm ok though.
-
I had the sleeve. My husband is obese. He has lost alot of weight along with me and together we make better choices. What he does when I'm not with him, I cannot control but none of us are perfect anyway.
-
Yes. As long as it doesn't have chunks of fruit in it.

I find that with meat you will probably get full quicker off less of it. Foods that go down easier you can eat more of. I look at this as a good thing. I never had problems with dairy. What issues are you having?

What did your doctor say about you having surgery?
hmills653 replied to ceciliarose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My pcp was not eager about me having the surgery. She did she'd rather I lose it without surgery. Im 42 and have been overweight since my early 20's. I've tried everything including spending $1000's at a weight loss clinic only to regain. She understood and signed my paperwork but said she'd be happy if I lost the weight before my surgery date.
