  1. Hi there im in Chicago as well and I am going to be banded at the WaterTower Surgicenter On Michigan Ave... They have a limo to come and pick u up from your home and the whole 9-yards... verry classy...lol..
  2. i'm wondering if we can drink v-8 juice as well... by being on all liquids.. if so i would suggest that also....
  3. lol.. that is too funny but i know u are serious... the growling.. and gurgling... lol.. wow do u have some tea bags.. caffene free of course.. if u do with some splenda sweeten it and add ice cubes to it... now i havent been banded but i am eating less to get prepared so i wont kill myself when the time comes...but i find out if i drink something warm it will calm it down... if that dosent do it.. i drink something sweet like sweet tea... u cant drink the mcdonalds tea...lol so u have to make your own sweet tea.. this should help... If u can drink v-8 juice try that also.. warm or cold works for me also.... hope this helps...
  4. u know what... the bottom line is that u can tell yourself that u took too much in, and u are doing the right things to make changes so that u will see great progression. Congrats on being on the liquid phase for 3-days thus far... kudos to u...
  5. Teddy12*** I just wanted to check on you to make sure that everything was getting better for you. I lost my mom about 16 1/2 mths ago. If you would like to talk about anything please feel free to send me a private msge....:huh2:
  6. Do u have some chicken broth? if not get some... The warm sipping, and the flavor may take the hunger away... U can do it....
  7. Like others said some Dr's don't require u to go on a pre-op diet. Depending on what your BMI is. But My Dr said the smaller your liver is the day of sug. the better the outcome. Meaning the less complications there will be, and your recovery will be easier and shorter... So even if he didn't give u one you may want to do your own. I'm sure it wont hurt...
  8. Congrats... Just remember to take 1-day at a time.. which is all u can do.. But try not to think too far ahead of yourself.... Nothing that is truly worth it will come easy....
  9. Wow excellent info.. I stopped my phentermine last week due to your post, and I guess I will have to stop taking my Xenical as well.. like u said better to be safe than sorry... Thanks for the heads up..
  10. exactly what i was thinking...I'm like uhhh i don't want any problems when i do get banded.. I don't want it to flip, erode, and i hate throwing up....
  11. You know I have a 3-yr old Toddler and yes I would do the same exact thing. My son is not an over eater. I guess he takes after his fathers side...lol:rolleyes2:... When he is full he won't eat another bite no matter how good it may be. I am learning from a 3-year old. Mommy if u are not hungry just dont eat it...:smile2:. And I have stopped.. He loves milk shakes so when i drink my shakes he is like can i have one.. Sure but i will make his reg milk w/carnation good start and blend it with ice while i drink my slim fast optima. U wouldn't believe how when u eat healthy your children will do the same. How cool is it to have a child to pick apple slices over Cookies at mcdonalds.... Of course the broccoli wasen't a poor choice it was like u said u just wasen't hungry....Great thing u realized it now than later...
  12. :sneaky:If you stray away from what your Doctor has instructed you to eat pre-op and post op. You will have problems feeling restricted? Because it seems as if the one's that are having slight restriction issues are the one's that started eating normal too early. I may be wrong, if so plz correct me. I am in no means saying that it is easy to be on liquids only for 2-weeks prior, & 2-weeks after the procedure. But one thing I can say is that I am learning from everyone on the post op board because there are things that should not be eaten period. Don't waste your time, & energy if you are not going to fight thru the temptations. Resist the craving and it will soon go away. If you drink soda you are defeating the purpose. If you eat any solid foods prior to week 4 post op.. you will have problems feeling the restriction. For peets sake you ate regular foods 2-early so while your stomach was in the healing process you streched it too much which may cause the band not to work properly. We all must remember that the Band is a TOOL like a hammer is when u are building a home. If u don't use it the correct way u wont be able to push the nail thru, the same goes with the band if u eat things you shouldn't how will u loose weight and get the proper restriction?
  13. You know I felt the way u felt at first. But what pisses me off is when u allow the people that u work with to know that u are trying to loose weight and as soon as u are walking pass a vending machine with no intent to purchase something they are like what r u doing i know MS IM ON A DIET AINT ABOUT TO BUY SOMETHING OUT OF THE MACHINE...First of all it is too embarassing and it's like why not tell everyone my business.. Damn... I am never asamed of loosing the fat...and letting people know that I am trying, but everyone has a bad day and I don't need the goof troop standing by looking like r u going to eat an entire 1/2 of a turkey sandwich and eat an entire fruit cup.... people can be annoying...
  14. u knw thats what i'm doing now while waiting on my approval and date for banding... Now what i will say at least 1-day out of the week eat a little more than the 1000 calories and it will help your metabolzm to stay revd up. And u will not platu....
  15. u know what it dosent matter how fat u may be. The bottom line is, is that he know what u are trying to do. And he's going to have to make better choices also. There are somethings u all are going to have to do for a good time and going out and making bad food choices are not one of them.
  16. actually by law you don't have to disclose why u r going to be out.. U have a medical sutuation that you have to attend to and u will be back within a week is all they need to know. I'm sure u can get a Dr's Note or something if it is needed.. other than that it is none of their business.. I wish my Supervisor would ask me well why r u going to be off for a week.. non of your business would be the answer in such a nice nasty way....
  17. Are u taking your pain med's like u should.... U should be unconfortable not in pain...
  18. The directions I received state 1. After surgery day 1 & 2 clear liquids, 2. 2 days - 2 weeks full liquids protein supplements skin milk or 1% milk low fat or light yogurts without fruit nuts or seeds strained cream soup broth, water fruit juice (limit to 8oz per day) sugar free jello sugar free popsicles AVOID REGULAR AND DIET SODA AND ALCOHOLIC BEVGS, & chewing Gum and regular solid foods.... 3. week 2-3-4 blended foods cut your food into very small pieces about the size of a nickel, put into a blender or food processor add enough liquid to cover the blender blades mix until there are no lumps Hope this helps...
  19. You know I felt the same way as u did at first. But My mind has changed. It has taken so long and people have dismissed the fact that I said that I was going to have it done. They think oh well she's not going to go thru with it... The reason why i said that I am not going to tell anyone because people do just the opp. of what u expect them to do. They will talk about u behind your back say that u were not strong enough to just put the fork down. They will try to make u fail... but the main point is u are doing it for u.. Most FAT PEOPLE are good looking, but u just can't see it behind all of the xtra weight, and most naturally slimmer people don't want to see a person that has the potential to loose the fat to get more attention then them. So getting back to my point. I'm keeping it to myself as well.. I am not ashamed or embarassed I just don't have time for the haters....
  20. I received my Nutrition guidelines... and it states that the normal time u should be adjusted is about 5-8 weeks after the sugery. I quote it says the following reasons may be an indication that you need a band adjustment. 1. You feel like you are making healthy food choices in appropriate portion sizes but are getting hungry between meals. 2. You can still eat white bread, fibrous vegetables, and large portion Greater than 2-cups 3. You have to struggle to lose weight. 4. You are gaining weight in spite of making healthy food choices, exercising, and being positive.
  21. I agree... U did not follow it that 1 day but now get back to what yr Dr. told u and on Monday start the mushies. They wouldn't have told u to wait unless it was a reason. I'm sure it wont hurt u but u just don't want to stop or slow your progress dwn in any way. How did the blended chicken taste... I think I would rather have a protien drink i couldn't imagine drinking chicken.....
  22. Who told them that you had a procedure done in the first place.. I think that was rude if u didn't tell them and your husband told them and u didn't. It was rude for them to high five and say u owe me. What a looser... Most of the time guys don't think before they act. What a guy... Most of their thinking level is still at age 16...
  23. i'm sure u will do fine. I have been waiting on them to give me the "call" to tell me to start the pre-op diet... Hell i better not stray away or cheat I would prob. kick my own butt...lol..
  24. u know i have done it all and i'm just waiting on them to fax and to receive all of my info and it has taken almost a month... so trust me i'm right along with u...The time will fly pass
