I am almost 2 years out and I take in anywhere from 3000 to 4000 calories a day, hence why I have put 25 pounds back on. Seeing at what you all take in a day makes me wish I was able to do that, I suppose I could if I ate the right things. I would be happy if I could get my calories down to about 2000 per day.

Ha ha ha. Dont worry plenty of people will be on here soon to tell you that you arent really hungry it is all in your head. It is just head hunger, feel free to tell those people to f**k off. I was starving the morning after surgery. Once you are able to take in puree and soft foods you should start to feel better.

I am right there with you guys. I have gained back 25 pounds of the 110 that I lost, it is just a series of ups and downs. Some days I do really good and eat really well, other days I am the same food addict I always was. I do not have any advice for you as to how you can be successful you are going to need to figure that out for yourself.

I personally would not get sleeved again, especially if you have not been successful with the first one. Looking into another option like others have said. I would go with Bypass and I wish I had done Bypass the first time around. Having said that, if you do not address the issues with your eating it really will not matter what surgery you have if you dont change the mental issues related to eating. Where ever you go, there you are.

Thank you, I appreciate that. It is very hard, now that the "honey moon" phase is long over with. I can pretty much eat anything I want without any major issues. The restriction is still there to a certain extent, I cannot eat nearly as much as I could before surgery but more than I could post op.bogglesauce reacted to this -
I stalled for about 4 months and have since started gaining weight back. I have put on 20 to 25 pounds in the last 6 months. It is not a good feeling to regaining weight after having weight loss surgery. I am trying to remind myself why I had the surgery in the first place and everything I put my body through after surgery, hoping that will get me back on track. I have also found a local OverEaters Anonymous meeting however I have not attended yet.

What about inches? Have you lost inches? Have you been measuring yourself to see if you are having any success there?

I still struggle with remembering this, though. food is still way too important to me. One day at a time, that's all you can do.
I understand, that is why I wrote it. I find myself being guilty of all the things I mentioned. After a 40 hour work week I feel like I owe it to myself to eat something to "reward" myself. I want pizza or junk food or the like. I am recovering alcoholic and addict, I am sober today. Food is the only thing I have left to abuse. The sleeve has definitely helped me in the sense that I cannot eat as much as I used to, but the mental obsession to eat is still there. Before sleeve surgery I estimate I was taking in roughly 8000 to 10000 calories a day. I typically take in about 3000 per day now at 18 months out, I realize that is too many calories and am trying to get it under control and starting to walk as a form of exercise.

Sure thing, I wrote it myself. It is something I repeat in my head trying to keep myself focused.

-Food is not your friend.
-Food is not a reward.
-Food is not an escape.
-Food is not a drug.
-Food is not a treat.
-Food does not comfort you.
-Food is not a celebration.
-Food is simply fuel for your body and nothing more.
The sooner you accept this, the better off you will be.
Sadly, I am still trying to convince myself to believe these statements.

knowing the prob is half the solution - staying on this board is great for you (and OP) too, gets/keeps you motivated!! start to get back on board,
eat and drink right - you/I know what to do - you CAN/will be successful again!!
you lost 110 lbs total - the weight you put back on - done and over with. don't look back - only look forward, straight ahead. You can do it. You don't want a 20 lb regain to go up to 30, 40, 50 lb etc - nip it in the bud NOW!!!
i know you are aces, and you will be a success again!!☺️
my fingers and toes are crossed for you
good luck

Thank you Kathy. It has really been difficult. The mental obsession for food has not left me by any means. If you recall my wife and I were sleeved together and we are trying to get back on track and make healthy choices. We are also trying to improve our eating habits for our kids health as well.

I am 18 months out and can easily take in 3000 to 4000 calories daily. if you dont address the underlying issues as to why you overate in the first place you will not have success. Clearly I have not addressed those issues and have started gaining again. I had lost 110 pounds but I have put 20 back on. I am trying to get refocused and considering got to OA but havent yet.

I needed to lose about 200 pounds and I lost 110
However I have put 20 back on I am about 18 months out from surgery. I would say go with Bypass. However, as they say "wherever you go, there you are" and you may not have the best results with either surgery if you do not address the over eating issues that you already have.
ProudGrammy and gabybab reacted to this -
No worries, you have to stay focused on the positives and remember why you chose the surgery you did. As they say in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, this too shall pass. This pain and discomfort you are in is only temporary. As far as the Protein, my favorite is the Peanut Butter. I have also tried the chocolate shake and the strawberries and cream. Peanut Butter is the best, then chocolate and then strawberry. I make mine with almond milk and it is really good, they also mix really easily and you can make them in a Blender Bottle.

I had the sleeve done and I wish I had done bypass. With the amount of weight I needed to lose Bypass would have been the way to go. As the previous poster said, if you already have issues with acid reflux then sleeve might not be your best option. I would say take the time to think this over, there is no need to rush into a decision that you may regret later.

You have just had major life altering surgery, of course you are going to feel like S**t
Have you tried Quest Protein? That is my personal favorite, you can get it on Amazon for sure not sure where else. As far as normalcy goes, you wont have that in your life for a while so you need to buckle up for the long haul. I would say probably by about the 3rd or 4th week. You have to remind yourself why you had the surgery in the first place, stay focused on that.

Hello Peeps,
Is it just me or does it seem like there are only about 10 active members on this forum? It seems like it’s always the same handful of people posting and responding. Occasionally there will be a new person, they will ask some questions and then disappear. Then someone might show up and there will be an argument and then they disappear. We could definitely use some more members on this site in my humble opinion. -
I had VSG and I had a drain sticking out of my stomach for 24 hours. It was pretty gross but not a huge deal. Having out pulled out by the doctor was pretty nasty and it made a very gross noise as it slid out. Then the incision for the drain was closed and no big deal.

Ha ha ha. Damnit, I am not falling for your kale propaganda.
It’s all about making smart choices, I would have a hard time keeping my calories that low. However, I have been able to hit like 1500 or 2000 some days. Then on some days I exceed that, one day at a time. -

Yes you can block me, however I am simply pointing out that you are a troll. It is obvious, you have done nothing but troll since you opened your account. Please find something better to do with your time.On 01/07/2019 at 21:22, DeltaBravo said:
Carbs?

This is a tricky one as I have seen people post saying that they do not count carbs at all that they only count calories. I have never really seen a straight answer on this question. I am not sure which is more important, low calories or low carbs?
