  1. I was cleared for exercise at 1 week post-op. I'm not doing a gym setting because I find it super intimidating but I am taking pilates classes for tonight and zumba for cardio.

Wonder Woman is a great name for you! I am only 6 days out and I can't imagine going to Zumba for quite a while

  2. I am 1 week post-op today I am having trouble with my diet my body doesn't want any of that sugar free stuff basically the artificial sweeteners no Splenda, no equal, no Stevia none of that so I'm basically left with Water, broth and that's it that I know of unless there is a suggestion someone out there can give me?

Sidenote I feel like pressure above my belly, under my breast area what is that pain?

I'm sure no expert at only 6 days out myself but my Dr said be careful not to gulp Water, very small sips or you would get chest/ back pain. It could also be acid reflux. I heard this surgery is notorious for that. My Dr allows you during this phase to have Tomato juice (heaven!!) or V8. Can you do yogurt?

  3. I was pretty honest with people in my life that I was having surgery. I am a nurse and work in a very large NICU so I have a large work family. I have always been active at work I wear a lots of hats so most of my coworkers obviously could see I was fat but I didn't work like a fat person. I was in charge, placed PICC lines and did transport for our unit. Anyway they have all been so supportive. Even before the surgery I lost 35lbs. I always lose in my face and boobs first. They all noticed and now that I'm down a total of 135lbs I am constantly hearing how much have you lost, you are so skinny (I appreciate that but I have 75lb to lose still). Every pound I lose these days is noticed which I think it's easier to notice when you are smaller. I drop pant sizes with every 10-15 pounds lost when it took me 50lbs it seems before I went down my from my beginning size of 26.

My family notices for other reasons.., I'm happier and more active. My three boys have never had their mother participate in all their activities. I get asked a lot about what my husband thinks about it. I was thin when he met me and never made me feel bad about being overweight. He does not say much one way or the other, but I told him that people have been asking how he felt about my weight loss and he said "I love you know matter what, but if you want to know the truth I think I missed some things that I didn't know I missed. He wrapped his arms around me and said like this. I didn't know I missed it but now that I can do it again I realized that I did." Oh and I let them take my picture this year at christmas!!!

    . happy for you!!!!

  4. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo? Remember the scene with "fish are friends, not food!" Well, right now, fish are your friends, AND food. tuna fish is great, it's filling, and has ZERO fat and ZERO carbs (get the stuff in Water, not oil). For dinner tonight - 0 carbs, 0 fat, 26 Protein, and only 120 calories! I added some lite mayo, 1 carb, 3.5 fat, 0 Protein, 35 calories. Also put 1 oz of shredded cheese on top just for taste, 1 carb, 9 fat, 6 protein, 110 calories. Healthy, protein-rich, low carb, low fat, low cal, and I was stuffed at the end. Very filling.

If you're craving bread, I've heard good things about a cauliflower crust pizza - just make the base and don't put any toppings on if you don't want, and you've got a bread-like snack that's much healthier.

For several days in a row I had homemade chicken salad. I put 4 chicken breasts in a crockpot with some low sodium chicken broth and a little barbecue sauce for taste. Next morning they were really soft. Ground them up in the food processor, add some some lite mayo, sweet relish and mustard, and it's great! One 4.5 oz serving (are you ready for this?) - 0.5 carbs, 3.1 fat, 39 (!) protein, and 196 calories. That's half your protein in one meal. And it's filling too.

Just plan ahead, I know it's a cliche but if you don't plan to succeed you're planning to fail.

One last suggestion, I've been eating Shelly's Ricotta Bake almost every day (it's amazing) - one serving is 6.8 carbs, 12.5 fat, 16.3 protein, and 206 calories.

You can do it, just remember why you got the surgery in the first place. Nothing worthwhile is easy, just tell yourself that you WILL do it.

thanks for the chicken salad recipe, sounds delicious. I will def be trying that!

  5. " You were not big enough to need surgery"

    "Dont loose too much"

"How much can you eat now"

    "Do you feel weak"

    "You look old"

    And the most annoying

"I liked the way you looked before surgery"

I heard all of these things before surgery. I WAS an insulin dependent diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I am only 4 days post op and Praise God I am already off insulin and reduced dosages on my other meds. Take that doubting Thomas' pfft
