I had my surgery 1/30/2017. My sw was 301, cw 211. I haven't set a goal weight. It's been a long road. I haven't given up even through the stalls. I have a ways to go but I am excited. I went from a 26/28 now I am wearing a 1x. I can cross my legs.;) I don't have to take diabetes medications anymore. In the beginning, I had constant thoughts of wtf did I do? Now it's easier. I had someone tell me that I took the easy road with having surgery. Like hell I did. It's not easy. You have to change your ways mentally and physically. I am excited of what is to come in my future. I am taking it one day at a time

  2. I had my surgery on 1/30/2017, and I was so worried about what I needed to pack. The funny thing is, the only thing I used from what I brought was my own pillow and my ChapStick. My overnight bag stayed in the closet. It's weird but I found the hospital gown super comfy because it was loose. I had them bring a fan because I was super hot, which is weird because I am always cold. The only things I wanted was my super cushiony socks for walking and my ChapStick. Congratulations on your surgery and much success

  3. Hi All

I am lactose intolerant and also have a poor reaction to whey and artificial sugars. As you can imagine--this really effects my ability to find a good Protein shake/protein powder for pre-op and post/op.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can use for both the 2 week pre-op liquid diet and then post op?

Also--I've heard stories about people who've had gastric sleeve that developed lactose intolerance---has anyone experienced/heard the opposite? Where the lactose intolerance disappeared? (wishful thinking)

    Any advice welcome!

Hello!! I am also lactose intolerant. I did a lot of reading on what type of Protein Powder to get that is a whey isolate. I purchased the Syntrax nectar protien. It's actually good and it doesn't bother me. I had my surgery on Monday (1/30/17).

  4. I have BCBS of TX. My surgery is scheduled for Feb 8th. I have done everything possible since August. Tons and tons of medical records. Dr said it was approved then today they called said they didn't know why but I was denied and we have to cancel that I needed to contact the insurance company. They had the receptionist call me and she had nothing to say. No answers. I cried all afternoon. Was on the phone with insurance for 3 hours and he got annoyed and hung up! I kept asking to speak to a supervisor and that I needed a reason for denial and nothing but a dial tone. I am so so so so sad. Anyone have any words for me?

I was denied at first by my insurance, which is BCBS. They denied me after I jumped through all of their hoops, claiming they just changed the policy. I had to go through a 6 month nutrition program. I had become discouraged and almost gave up. I went through the 6 month program. I got my approval letter right before Christmas, and I had my surgery on 1/30/2017. Please don't give up.
