    Help! I'm addicted!

I'm on here M-F 8AM-5PM and sometimes I check in on my lunch hour. I need to be around people who understand...is that pitiful?

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I am calling the doc now. Thanks to all who have expressed concern (not just on this thread). I guess I thought sliming was normal since I've read about it so much. Guess not.

What does everyone do for a living?

I bill false alarms for the police and fire departments and take care of any misc. receivables owed to the city goverment. No, I am not very popular with the clients, but my bosses love me! My second job is doing taxes and taking classes to stay current in tax law. I'm there an average of 20 hours a week during tax-season (way busy right now), 10 hrs for classes off-season.

Friend says it's a magic pill

I have to agree with other posters, this is the reason I don't tell. Easy way out, not for me! Pain on the first bite of every meal, slime several times a day, Pbing all too often and the net result is half a pound a week. There are some of us who think the band makes losing weight "easy", but there are just as many who don't. Perhaps it has something to do with the result you got when you dieted preband? I could never lose more than 10-15 lbs on ANY diet. Some lost 50 only to regain 60. Everyone is so different. Perhaps if a person has no physical, emotional, or mental issues the band makes it "easy", but that's not where I live.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

My next fill is tomorrow afternoon. Doc says he will give me another .2ccs then. I hope that will do it. The weirdest thing happened to me yesterday: we went out for lunch and I couldn't finish my salad and a piece of chicken. That's NEVER happened before. As a matter of fact, it took me the rest of the day to eat my whole dinner (it was pretty large). I had LOTS of slime, but that is becoming an every meal thing for me. Could this possibly be restriction? What a novel idea! Now I'm a little worried about my appt. tomorrow. I'm pretty sure my tightening has to do with monthly issues, but it COULD be that my last fill kicked in. What to do? I guess I'll see how eating goes today...

    Tummy Tucks

Perhap it could be excessive. I weighed 310 at one point and it was ALL in my tummy. I assume the Dr knows what he's talking about. My sis lost 10 lbs. with a breast reduction so I know it's possible. We will see when I get there.

    Tummy Tucks

My stomach hangs way down now! My PS said if I would get down to 175 he would take care of the last 30 lbs. required to get me to goal (tummy AND arms). That has given me alot of hope because 75 sounds so much easier to lose than 105. Perhaps a consult is in order?

Hello! Calling all Georgians, anybody there?

I'll check in with you on Monday to see if the evil weight gain has gone. Congrats on the 5 lbs.!
  9. Kryssa

    Is this working?

I could eat ANYTHING from about 6 days out. You should get filled at 6 week visit. Good Luck!

Richmond Hill, about 50 miles north. I am really glad someone else had really slow progress with Henderson. I need the reassurance!

    TrimSpa baby!

TrimSpa, my #@%! I trhink Shannon is right, she acts like a meth addict! Got to love that speed...whatever! Off-Topic: I promise that if I ever lose this weight I will volunteer to be the Lap-Band spokesmodel. That's quite a concession since only a very limited number of people know I've had surgery! That's also quite a big IF because the scale isn't moving. But I can look in the mirror and KNOW I'm beautiful, I just need to get this weight off so the rest of the world can see it too.

    My Apology to LBT

First: I don't know what you wrote because after reading Dr Ortiz's post I left the thread and haven't went back. You are right; it did read like an infomercial. But I wouldn't apologize. Most of us WANT to hear the opinions of others, and for those who don't, they needn't read them. This site is about support and finding people who can offer wisdom about what you are going and have been through. Don't worry that others may take your remarks the wrong way; if you have the best of intentions, you are doing the right thing. Imagine if noone would talk about the complications associated with going to Mexico...scary! How can we help each other if we only talk about the good stuff?

what time do u stope eating at night?

3 hours before bedtime is usually around 7 PM for most people. If you don't go to bed until 1 AM, you can eat until 10 PM. The point is to digest your food BEFORE you go to bed so it doesn't stay in your pouch and cause swelling which causes you to be unable to eat in the morning. The reason unbanded people should do this is the same. The food will sit in your stomach overnight, which is not real good for your metabolism.

    uh oh :(

Don't expect weight loss until after your 2nd? fill. Or longer until you get good restriction. DO NOT beat yourself up for this, you are NORMAL.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

:cry Ok, you guys know I was having a bad day yesterday. It's time for my confession. I ate 10 bite-size candybar pieces last night. I know better than to fall into the "this isn't working so I might as well do as I want" trap but I did it anyway. :think Well, today is a new day, I'm going to try to do better, at least I didn't gain any weight. :nervous

Hello! Calling all Georgians, anybody there?

:update: My restriction lasted less than 36 hours.:omg: I guess it was due to swelling. :think I'm so frustrated right now (as anyone who saw my post on the Slow Losers thread can attest to). I go back next Tuesday to try again. :tired I kind of liked the full feeling, now I just want it to last. :target:
  17. NSVs are about all I have! Ok, here goes: After 10 months of going to the gym, I have bought 3 pairs of high heels. Not the regular 2 inch pumps I wear to work either. I bought a pair of 3 inch strappy sandals, 3 1/4 inch suede pumps, and (oh my God!) a pair of 4 inch mule boots. And I look GOOD in them. My legs aren't icky and my feet aren't running over the sides!

Me too. I chose this surgery to avoid malabsorption, I just feel so desperate right now. I had a resting metabolic rate test done: it says I burn 1800-1900 calories at rest. Thus the reason for cutting to 1300-1400; 500 cal a day X 7 days = 3500 cal = 1 lb lost per week. Right? NO! I'm at the gym 3-4 days a week, but I have done this for 10 months now so I really don't think it's the whole replacing fat with muscle thing that is keeping me from losing. I had my thyroid checked in Jan. Normal. Sure it is. I tried taking glucophage for 6 months about 2 years ago; it's supposed to regulate blood sugar and other problems from PCOS. No result. What's the next step?

    Too much Morning Restriction Anyone

For most bandsters the reason is swelling around the band that occurs overnight. Once the swelling goes down, you can eat.

new puppy!! we need a name

I'm way jealous. My "find" is a maltese/poodle mix. And he's yippy with my other dogs! I like Margo or Abby, but Bandy might mean more to you.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

:rant:Warning: Rant in Progress! :frusty: Here are my stats: 16 1/2 weeks or 107 days since banding. Lost 10lbs 1st week, gained 10lbs over next 5 weeks Lost 2 lbs. weeks 6-8, lost 8lbs. more weeks 8-13, gained 3 in weeks 14-15. Stagnant since that point. :mad2: Restriction? Marginal, if first bite blues count. Have always been able to 2-3 cups of food at a sitting, even right after surgery. :embarassed: Fills? :mmph: The 5th one is Tuesday. I've got 2.2cc in a 4cc band. And I'm tired of it. I am so ready to give up on this program as just another stupid scheme I got suckered into and threw money away on. Yes, I am fully aware that some of you out there have it much worse than I do. But I'm so frustrated and depressed I want to scream! :help: I spent yesterday researching DS. I don't want to rearrange my insides, but hell, if I am going to do it, might as well do it right! I can't can't can't stay this heavy. My family doesn't understand why I'm not losing weight, they look at me as though I am some sort of freak. :tape2: My Mom actually asked me if I thought I should have had RNY like my cousin did because at least she is losing! :target: My Doc suggests patience. Sorry, I'm fresh out!:angry Has anyone else had a really slow start and then gone on to be sucessful at getting to goal? Or should I start the insurance process over again for DS? Help! :pout: BTW, thanks for letting me vent to you guys. My poor skinny DH would think it was time to commit me if he heard all the ick that has been going through my head.
  24. My doc subscribes to the eat early rule too. This works for me because (as usual) I'm backwards and can eat more at lunch than at dinner. But doc also said if you can't eat earlier, just don't eat within 3 hours of bedtime! This eliminates the food in the pouch problem. And it COULD even lead to being able to eat breakfast or a bigger lunch since there will be less overnight swelling.

    2.9cc - 4th & hopefully last fill!

Jolean, I never had restriction after surgery. I wasn't hungry for exactly 1 day: the day of the procedure because I was in too much pain to eat. After 4 fills I can still gulp water and the only thing I pb is lean dry hard protein. Grrrrrr. Well, 5th fill Tuesday, here's hoping I can finally quell the hunger. Like Jack says, it is my own personal dragon/demon.
