  1. Started my process in October and had surgery March 23rd. Had to have 4 consecutive months of weigh ins, had to see a psych, get an endoscopy and see a nutritionist. Didn't mind the process. The time helped me get mortally prepared. I know some people habe to go through a longer process but I'm sure insurance make you do that because only those who want it will go through it.

  2. I couldn't drink the premier shakes after surgery so I got slim fast shakes it thinner I can drink it now a little at a time but I can finish it with in a hour the premier was taking days ! Also I got yogurt pops from whole food which helps add Protein to my diet so glad I can finally eat a whole organic soft scrambled egg in the morning! Good Luck to us all! LG!

I'm going to look into the slim fast and yogurt pops, thank you. I also have to find a new multi Vitamin, I have gummies and forgot that they are not good to take after the surgery. Someone mentioned a liquid one, just not sure where they got it from.

  3. My surgery date was set for yesterday and I was denied again on Tues. So frustrating. My surgeon wants to appeal. I'm ready to just be done with all the BS here and head to Mexico. I'd actually pay less there then my out of pocket with insurance here!

So sorry to hear that. I had to reschedule due to a family member passing. Still waiting for approval. Was told I should hear something next week. If you can, you should do another appeal before deciding to go to Mexico. I'm sure it's frustrating. Good luck

  4. Hi Ronnie are you doing tge 6mos diet for insurance approval? Also does you insurance require a letter from your PCP? Im asking because Im also doing a 6mos diet for approval, and I finished my 5 appt yesterday and they said after my next appt thats it. They will send paperwork for approval. I was told a letter from your PCP is good but not a requirement. I have BCBS Anthem

Hey, my insurance requires 4 months for the diet and Friday will be last visit. The letter from the PCP is required also for my insurance approval. I'm going to call the weight management office to see what options I have.

  5. I too have HS and my dermatologist was the first person to recommend. She did mention that sometimes it can cause flares but once you level off the HS can go fully into remission. Considering I've been on humira for the last year even a decrease in flares sounds amazing! Hopefully once all the Drs talk they will get on the same page. I'm so sorry [emoji20] I'm only on my second class but I'd be super upset if this happened to me. Keep pushing!!

That's the main reason why I'm getting the surgery for remission of my HS. I can't do anything as far as working out because it's so bad. Still waiting for a call from someone. So we'll see.

  6. Is it too late to get a second opinion? Is it possible to see another doc/dermatologist?

Yes only because I am suppose to have everything by next wk so my papers can be sent to my insurance for approval. If I dont get a call back tomorrow I'll call the weight loss office and see if I just add extra months for my weigh ins and look for another PCP

  7. So today I went to see my PCP to sign my letter of reccomendation for surgery and she flipped the script on me. When I started the process in October she was on board with everything. She was aware of everything needed to be done and said the letter isn't a problem. Gave me the letter in writing, I just needed to type it.

Today she tells me she's not sure if it's a good idea due to my chronic skin condition that I have (hidradenitis suppurativa). Said she mentioned it to a dermatologist I also see in her office and they both are against it now. Excuse my language but what type of shit is that??? I go in for my last weigh in and nutrition appointment next wk. Not even sure what to do now.

Don't be discouraged, this is only going to make you healthier and stronger in the long run. Remember that during the months of preparing for surgery, we are working to improve ourselves to support the healthier individuals we shall become. Not just to look good, but have healthy body, mind and spirit. If it takes a few more weeks or months, it will only help you more.

Good luck, YOU GOT THIS & remember, we are here to support!

Thank you! I was telling myself that too, it's a process to be become my best self. Going to make another appointment and go in optimistic and a positive attitude.

  9. I had my psych evaluation yesterday and she said she doesn't think I'm emotionally prepared for the surgery. She wants me to see her once a week, for how long? I'm not even sure. Says I show clear signs of depression and looks like I just need someone to talk to. I've told myself this for a while but kept brushing it off. I didn't have expectations going in but hearing that didn't cross my mind. I don't want to just stop the whole process because that's what it is, a process. I just feel like I took a step back.

  10. Try not to be too nervous! I really like the psychologist at the center where I go to. At the first meeting he asked questions about what diets I'd tried before, what my weight history was, why I was interested in the surgery, and about my family history. I have a long history of depression and a pretty crazy family history and I was honest. Didn't stop me from getting approved! He actually helped me make the decision to get the surgery because I was on the fence. Just be yourself and good luck :-)

Thank you so much I'm nervous only bc I don't know what expect. Looking forward to it, wanted to see a psych before but always told myself that it would be a waste
