  1. I have been on solids since day 4, as per my program. I have puked 3 times, and I'm 12 weeks post op. Once was because I didn't chew the bit well enough. I have to chew everything until it's like puree in my mouth. The other two times was because my stomach was not ready to get of Nexium. It's very important that you keep the water times. I have to drink 10-15min before I eat, just to clean out my stomach so to speak. And then I have to wait 30 min after. Chew your food very good, and take your time eating. But no longer than 20min.
  2. I was on mine. No tampons for me, but a pad and mesh, both gone when I woke up. No catheter for me either. Strangely enough, I didn't have as heavy flow as I should have had. No spillage. They get you up and walking pretty quick, and you can do what you need then.
  3. It's just your body adjusting to everything. You will have stalls, no ifs or buts about it. If you have lost 20 in 2 weeks, You have lost 20 in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!! Think about that. When was the last time you lost 20 in 2 weeks? Give your body time, and as long as changes are happening in your body, it's normal. I was on a 2 week stall and lost a whole clothing size.
  4. I didn't have the sleeve, but the RNY, and I drank pretty normal after just a week out. I didn't take big gulps, but drank small sips all the time. Not micro small, but like half a mouth full. As long as it's not making you uncomfortable, and you don't drink a lot at once, you should be fine. Water passes through your stomach pretty quick.
  5. Don't give up. I was on the cancellation list, and my surgery got moved up from April 18th to March 20th. Just make sure you remind them now and then that you are there.
  6. I'm a triathlete...or was, but will be again. I had back surgery in December 2015 and haven't been able to run since. It's because of my back i ended up with WLS. I hope that I'll one day be able to do it again. I eat low carb or keto when I was training and racing. worked wonders. Gave me plenty of fuel. I'm not super fast, but my half marathon time is 2:14 on keto. I usually eat nuts, cheese during training and race, had an early breakfast with eggs and bacon, avocado, cheese. That was before wls though.
  7. I have been on solids since day 4, and already back then we could eat up to 5 oz. But in volume, not weight. I never did in the beginning, but I have for the past 4-6 weeks. I'm 12 weeks post op.
  8. Usually they don't recommend running a half until you have about 6 months to a year of running in your legs. That is to prevent injury and for it to be a great experience. If it's a half where you can walk for a lot of it, I would say go for it. If there is a time limit, which there often are, I would say wait. What you can do is start running now. You'll have to start over again after surgery, but you'll have some running in your legs. Also, after surgery, your body will be under a lot of stress, training for a half is putting it through more stress. I personally would go for the sleeve and postpone the half. I'm a triathlete and best half time is 2h 14min (2nd half). Can't run right now due to back surgery.
  9. @nettajlong I didn't have acid reflux before surgery. It's something that has come after surgery. As for side effects, have you been tested for osteoporosis? It's a very common side effect from long term use of acid reducers. After trying to reduce my Nexium and that didn't work, I went back on it for a week. Today I started pantoprazole to see if it works better than Nexium. If that doesn't work, the next thing is to remove all dairy to see if I have gotten an intolerance since surgery.
  10. Not sure if it will be available for international users ( ex. Europe), but if so, please have measurements like 1 gram and 100 grams. Nothing is by portions over here, everything is by 100 grams. Same goes for liquid, ml, dl and liters. The option of setting all values ourselves. By that I mean that we are all in different programs, so we have different guidelines that we have to follow. Some have to drink 30 min before eating, I have to drink 10-15min before eating. Some can have that many carbs, others can have more or less. Also, when you add your own product, which I assume, coming from Europe, I'll have to do a lot in the beginning. Being able to edit if I have made a mistake and not have to add it all over again.
  11. My cholesterol went from over 330 down to just over 100 at my 6 weeks check up. My next check up with blood work will be in September. I'm 10 weeks out.
  12. @Redmaxx if you don't have any problems, there is no need for you to take it. Right after surgery, I think almost everyone takes it for a while, anywhere from 8 weeks to a year so things can heal. I'm only 9 weeks post op, and my stomach is not ready to get off apparently.
  13. @neon07734 Wow, you have really been unlucky. With you just being 1 month post op, isn't it a little early to stop the meds? Things are still healing. I'm 9 weeks out, but most people take it for 6 months. Hopefully it will get better for both of us. @Di_ I'm glad you have been able to find something that helps, and hopefully things will get better. I have also noticed that Skyr/quark is no problem. I'll see how it goes in about 3 week. Hopefully it just needs a little more time.
  14. @Berry78 yeah, I have seen people who are on it for 6 months. My program is 8 weeks. If the next 3-4 weeks doesn't help, my surgeon wants to see me. I found it very unusual as well, and good to know it's for really long term. BTW, we have the exact same surgery date
  15. @Sadiebug only thing I'm worried about is the long term side effects like brittle bone. I guess 3-4 months is not really that long. Thanks.
  16. I'm 9 weeks post op RNY today. Last week, as per my program, I stopped Nexium 40mg (Acid Reflux meds). First day off was fine, did feel some tightening when I eat, but other than that, okay. Second day off, I managed to get breakfast down, but 2 bites of lunch, and the tightening in my chest got so bad, that I just had to drink something to get it up. It came up with a lot of slime. I first thought I hadn't drunk enough before eating, so it eas an attack of the foamies. The following day I made sure i drank enough, breakfast was fine, but lunch again came back up. I called my surgeon. I have had no problems with food what so ever up until this point. I have been on solids since day 4, as per my program, and everything has been fine. He put me back on Nexium 40 mg for 2 weeks, and then 20mg for 1-2 weeks before trying to go off them again. If I still have problems, I have to head into the hospital for them to take a look at me. I'm back on Nexium, and no problem. Food goes down as before, except I'm more cautious, I don't want it to happen again. I eat very slow, and chew very very well. Some extra information. I have always thought that I have been hungry about half an hour after eating. I have made sure to drink a lot, and just power through it until the next meal. Same thing after that. Thinking back, it hasn't been hungry like I used to feel hungry, more like a very light burning sensation. Could it be acid reflux despite being on meds? Can I risk having to stay on Nexium for a long time, maybe even forever? Can it already have done some damage? Anyone else experienced this? I didn't really have acid reflux problems before. Maybe once every 6 months.
  17. Surgeons have different programs, and you should follow your surgeons program. I have been eating food since day 4 (with restrictions), as per my surgeons program, but that doesn't mean it's okay for everyone if their surgeon has a different program.
  18. Only 2 months out, but yeah, just sooner. It's changing my life, day by day.
  19. 600 kcal at 12 weeks out sounds very little. Granted I don't have a guidline, I have been anywhere from 700 to 1200 since week 6. In general I'm around 7-900 and I'm not even 8 weeks out. Also, carbs makes you retain more water if your body is not used to it.
  20. She means bread, grains, pasta. Veggies has been included since day 4. I asked her about stew, meat was protein, carrots veggies, and potatoes complex carbs. If I have yogurt, then berries for fruit and a slice of bread. Or a slice of bread with cheese and cucumber. That is what she wants me to eat.
  21. Last week I was at my 6 week post op appointment with my NUT. I'm now cleared to eat everything, but I was cleared to eat a lot by day 4. I got no kcal guideline, no really macro guideline. My protein since surgery has been 60g. From now on, I should slowly move from 6 to 3 meals from what I understood, and all meals should include protein, veggies and complex carbs. She wants me to eat bread to cold meals, and a medium potato to warm meals. Oh, and my protein should be about 50%, that's it....that's all the guideline I got. I don't see how I can be successful with this. My body is not happy with carbs, it's what got me overweight (by overeating them of course) to begin with. It what triggered me to eat more. I don't see my surgeon until September.
  22. Almost 7 weeks out and haven't had a single bad reaction to anything. I have been able to eat food since day 4. It scares me a lot. I have had bread and fruit (all in accoradance with my NUT), dairy, red meat, rice cakes, veggies, hot, cold, doesn't matter. I haven't had anything with a large amount of fat or sugar, but I have had both, no problem.
  23. I weigh everything that goes into my mouth unless the packaging is less than my max and has the weight on it. I gained this weight by not controlling what I eat, I'm using this time to build tools to sustain this in the long run.
  24. It is all different depending on which program you are in. My program had me on Puree for a day, and then I have been on solids since day 4 post op, but that is absolutely not normal.
  25. First doctors visit on Jan 5th. BMI over 40, high cholesterol, bad back with one back surgery behind me already at age 37, and indications of high blood pressure. Got the date 4 days later, April 18th. Then my whole process began. Nut, psych, and a session with a physical therapist to get a workout program that I have to star 3 weeks post op (today actually). All done on the same day at the hospital. Extensive blood work, chest xray, EKG, Ultrasound, endoscopy, had everything with me to see the surgeon 6 weeks before my op date at the hospital again. I then took all my papers to my insurance, was there for 15 min, got approved. I had asked to be on a waiting list for an earlier date once I got approved. And I got a new date which was March 20th, so I'm 3 weeks post op today. They wanted me to loose 7-12 lbs before surgery, how they didn't care. Soft food only, 24 h before surgery. Admitted the day before surgery, stayed for 2 days after, so really 4 days in the hospital. I think it's been the least amount of hoops I have seen around. I'm in Austria.
