  1. Surgeons have different programs, and you should follow your surgeons program. I have been eating food since day 4 (with restrictions), as per my surgeons program, but that doesn't mean it's okay for everyone if their surgeon has a different program.
  2. Only 2 months out, but yeah, just sooner. It's changing my life, day by day.
  3. 600 kcal at 12 weeks out sounds very little. Granted I don't have a guidline, I have been anywhere from 700 to 1200 since week 6. In general I'm around 7-900 and I'm not even 8 weeks out. Also, carbs makes you retain more water if your body is not used to it.
  4. Last week I was at my 6 week post op appointment with my NUT. I'm now cleared to eat everything, but I was cleared to eat a lot by day 4. I got no kcal guideline, no really macro guideline. My protein since surgery has been 60g. From now on, I should slowly move from 6 to 3 meals from what I understood, and all meals should include protein, veggies and complex carbs. She wants me to eat bread to cold meals, and a medium potato to warm meals. Oh, and my protein should be about 50%, that's it....that's all the guideline I got. I don't see how I can be successful with this. My body is not happy with carbs, it's what got me overweight (by overeating them of course) to begin with. It what triggered me to eat more. I don't see my surgeon until September.

    I have to eat carbs

She means bread, grains, pasta. Veggies has been included since day 4. I asked her about stew, meat was protein, carrots veggies, and potatoes complex carbs. If I have yogurt, then berries for fruit and a slice of bread. Or a slice of bread with cheese and cucumber. That is what she wants me to eat.

Which Foods Can’t You Eat Now?

Almost 7 weeks out and haven't had a single bad reaction to anything. I have been able to eat food since day 4. It scares me a lot. I have had bread and fruit (all in accoradance with my NUT), dairy, red meat, rice cakes, veggies, hot, cold, doesn't matter. I haven't had anything with a large amount of fat or sugar, but I have had both, no problem.

    Weighing Food

I weigh everything that goes into my mouth unless the packaging is less than my max and has the weight on it. I gained this weight by not controlling what I eat, I'm using this time to build tools to sustain this in the long run.
  9. It is all different depending on which program you are in. My program had me on Puree for a day, and then I have been on solids since day 4 post op, but that is absolutely not normal.
  10. First doctors visit on Jan 5th. BMI over 40, high cholesterol, bad back with one back surgery behind me already at age 37, and indications of high blood pressure. Got the date 4 days later, April 18th. Then my whole process began. Nut, psych, and a session with a physical therapist to get a workout program that I have to star 3 weeks post op (today actually). All done on the same day at the hospital. Extensive blood work, chest xray, EKG, Ultrasound, endoscopy, had everything with me to see the surgeon 6 weeks before my op date at the hospital again. I then took all my papers to my insurance, was there for 15 min, got approved. I had asked to be on a waiting list for an earlier date once I got approved. And I got a new date which was March 20th, so I'm 3 weeks post op today. They wanted me to loose 7-12 lbs before surgery, how they didn't care. Soft food only, 24 h before surgery. Admitted the day before surgery, stayed for 2 days after, so really 4 days in the hospital. I think it's been the least amount of hoops I have seen around. I'm in Austria.

    Fruits and veggies

4 days for me. My program has you on solids by day 4. It has to be chewed down to puree, but as long as it has no seeds, and skin free, I can eat it.

    March Surgeries

I know about as much as you do, which is why I asked as well

    March Surgeries

How are people doing? I'm 4 days post op, came home after 2 days, had solids today (my programs have you on solids by day 4, but it has to be chewed to puree) I had horrible gas pain at first, but that is almost over. I have gotten a sinus infection on top of recovery, but slowly getting better. I'm down 6.6 lbs since surgery, 19 lbs total since March 6th.
  15. Surgery was on Monday, came home yesterday. Have ended up with a sinus infection, so not feeling too good, but working my way through it. Water intake has improved since I got home. My program has you on to solids (that you have to chew until puree) by day 4, so I'm already on yogurt, creamy soups, even had a babybell cheese. Down 2.4kg /5lbs since surgery
  16. It's 7pm for me. I'm already at the hospital, surgery at 8am tomorrow. Good luck everyone
  17. My surgery date is 3/20 and I feel like it's slowly skipping away. Since last Friday I ha e had a cold. No sore throat, no headaches, joint pain, fever or anything like that. Just a little coughing and congested. Trying to blow my nose and get all the phlegm up, but I'm slowly running out of time. I don't want it to get postponed, who knows when I'm get another date. There is a 3 month waiting list at least.
  18. That's actually hilarious 😂😂😂
  19. Thank you! Yeah, getting lots of fluids, and have started on my bariatric vitamins. First to see if I can tolerate them before I order more, and to try and get better.
  20. 6 days until surgery, and I have a cold. Scared they'll say we'll have to postpone if I don't get well enough.

    March Surgeries

Surgery in just 6 days, and of course I have a cold. So scared I won't get well enough, and they'll have to postpone.
  22. I gained some after my initial appointment (I have extremely bad sciatica pain, so no movement and feeling sorry for myself is not a good combination) , so I'm already trying to get down as much as possible. We don't get a specific diet, just to cut back on fat, and make sure we have 12 hours between last and first meal, it gives the liver a better chance of getting smaller. They want us to try and loose 3-5kg. (about 6-10 lbs) I'm down just over 8 lbs since Monday, I need another 7 to get down to initial weight. More than that will be awesome, but not really realistic.
  23. I think you are talking to me. I think it was because they have to do a antibody test the day before. Normally you can come on the day of, at 0630.
  24. Mine is March 20th. At first it was April 18th, but then someone canceled and I was able to get their date. They called me on Tuesday, right after I had left the hospital after my last pre-op appointment. I went straight to the insurance company, and they approved me there and then. So excited. I'm getting admitted on the 19th.
