rolorolo got a reaction from misschrissylynn in 2 more days!
I'm 3 weeks out. Had my surgery on 25th Jan. I'm feeling good and I haven't had much pain just so tired. If you eat little and often you will be fine listen to your body. Good luck I don't think you will regret it x

rolorolo reacted to Berry78 in Voice change?
When I was in middle school, we were admiring an opera singer's voice. Our music instructor said we'd need to gain about 200lbs to be able to sound like that.
Well, I showed him! (Gained the weight, but still don't sound like her!)
HA!

I consulted privately at Glasgow Nuffield at end of May 16 and had my surgery on 23 August. In between, initial diet to lose 5 kilos, Psychologist and Dietician assessments, then 2 week pre-op liver shrinkage diet. Follow up in place. No regrets.

rolorolo reacted to Diva T in Feeling hungry
You may be experiencing Head Hunger. It is real and it is truly difficult to tell physical hunger from emotional hunger so soon after surgery. I'm dealing with this too. But think about this logically. Our stomachs are the size of a small pealed banana. For myself, I have to remember this OFTEN!!!! If I just drank or ate something it is not physically possible to hold more. 2-3 oz are all we can hold of solid food right now. liquids are easier yes but real food no. We cannot hold more. Really think about that and see if it helps you. I hope it does! We are here for you and each other. Hang in there!

rolorolo reacted to jhgl in Liquid diet
My surgery is on the 23rd and I started my preop diet on the 4th, so I've been doing this for a week. My best advice is to stay busy! When you want to eat, go for a walk, drink some Water or brush your teeth. Keep at it- you will see the pounds coming off soon if you haven't already! It's only been a week and I lost 13 pounds on this preop diet. I can relate to it being hard, night time is the worst for me so I have been going to bed earlier than usual. But I just wanted to send a note of encouragement that if I can do it, anyone can do it. (I have to admit I cheated and ate something off my diet two days ago, but I got right back on it and it was my only cheat)!

rolorolo reacted to Wonder WomanNJ in HELP! Freaking out - need honest feedback
I was sleeved on 12/21 - released from the hospital 12/23 and back to work (office job) 12/27. I can honestly tell you my worst day was the day I was released from the hospital. However, that was only with discomfort and maybe some gas getting stuck half-way up. It was smooth sailing since then.
I don't know how true this is but I heard that the better you follow your pre-op diet, the better your post-op goes. I was told the pain comes from the surgeons having to finagle more in there. Again, I don't know how much of that is true but I will tell you that I followed my pre-op to the Tee.
Don't be scared. Do what you're told to the best of your ability and move forward.
xoxo

rolorolo reacted to DillThePill in HELP! Freaking out - need honest feedback
Yeah, the pain was bad the first day. They have good IV meds at the hospital and I was buzzing the nurse the moment my time was up. It subsided over the next couple of days. My stomach muscles were sore for another week and that has been it for me.
But, really, it's a couple of days. It's not much to deal with compared to the total impact of this on your life. Looking at the total experience, the 3 week pre-op diet while I had an intact stomach was harder than the 2 days in the hospital.

rolorolo reacted to barbaraf in MY STORY
Before I had my procedure done, I had such a way of living that didn´t really followed my dreams and hopes and aspirations. I was always insecure, and it goes without saying that my health was in such a state that I was always in and out of the hospital for problems with my respiratory system and my gastric system.
It was a long journey before I decided I wanted to go through with the surgery. I had to make the decision for myself, for my own benefit and thinking about my future, what I wanted and how I wanted to continue to live my life, if I wanted to keep feeling bad about my appearance or if I wanted to be pro active and make a change for the better, to take action, to take matters into my own hands and do what was best for me and start doing it by doing research about the different procedures and doctors, looking at forums like this one, and making my decision.
I chose Dr. Frayre because he ha such an expertise and good history, and a good team to work with, and most of all, the care that he gives to his patients is what makes the difference of it all.
My life has totally change and I´m really happy about it.

Congratulations on the upcoming surgery .. Not too long now!
I think everyone has a little wobble before and just after the surgery. I was fine until day three, then had a meltdown, thinking what the hell had I done. I reserched it a lot too, just like you but nothing can really prepare you and I don't mean in a bad way, so don't worry. I hope the sugery goes well and your recovery is swift. 15 months on, I still say its the best thing I have done. I just wish I had done it sooner.
Where are you having the surgery?
*Hugs* for the next few days.
