  1. I was given a stage 1 liquid tray to eat in the hospital and when they saw I tolerated the liquids just fine they brought in stage 2 tuna salad in the hospital. I've been on pureed foods since leaving the hospital. And while you may all miss eggs cheese and or fish. You are all definitely losing weight faster than I ever will. I'm 10'days post op and lost 4 lbs. I also came out of the hospital 8lbs heavier post op, I lost those 8 lbs and 4 on top of them but in the long run I'm only really down 4 lbs. enjoy your process. Each person is on a different regime based on their surgeon. But I'm noticing that those on Clear Liquids then all liquids that slowly transition to a pureed diet are def losing more weight post op.
Always look on the bright side!

  2. I started my all liquid pre-op diet 272 on 1/17 and lost 18lbs. Day of surgery I weighed 254 and they started me on puréed foods on day 2 at the hospital, came home and weighed 262. I'm now 9 days post-op and I weigh 250. So while it's only 4 lbs down since surgery. I'm also eating three puréed meals a day and drinking my shakes and working up to 64 oz of liquids.
I believe that the puréed food stage does stall the weight loss for a bit. And it's totally normal. My doc said not to worry so I'm not going to worry. Just keep up with getting your liquids and Protein in. Exercise once a day or walk or whatever type of movement works for you and you'll be fine.

  3. Same thing here. Sleeved 1/31 and I barely eat a teaspoon of yogurt and I'm full, teaspoon of tuna and I'm full and I can't drink a 1/4 of my Protein shake. I've been focusing on drinking Water and teas. I find that I generally sip on warm tea anyway and I can drink about 4 oz from a cup, so tea 5 x a day = 20 oz plus some Water and broth and the shakes (those count as liquids) I've been tallying 40 oz of liquids. Not bad for someone that's just 3 days out.

  4. Way to go! For all those naysayers. You don't need to believe her actually you don't need to do anything at all! This site is meant to encourage, support and inform everyone of other people's journeys. This is her journey don't shit on it for whatever reason. That's just a bad reflection on you. If she's lying and I'm not saying she is, karma has a way of catching up to people like that. So just let it be and please keep this board positive. We're all here for the same reasons, let's not forget that.

She could be short and a 30+lb weight loss on a short person isn't the same as a tall or taller person. Plus her legs look super skinny in the right pic.

Looks like she lost 30+lbs all from her chest and abdomen. Either way. Congrats!

  5. Hey everyone,

There's an article on MSN today about 2017 Winners: Half their size....It's basically before and after photos with a quick summary of how these people literally lost half their size in weight. and Idk why but while I was reading through it, I started getting really pissed off. They pretty much listed every popular 'diet' they mention this one did weight watchers and walked or that one did Jenny Craig and 30 min cardio oh she tried Atkins.< /p>

NEWSFLASH!!! That's not typically the norm. These diets don't help people stay in shape and once in a very blue moon do these diet help people lose 100+ lbs. I've done weight watchers before and yes I've lost weight on it, I actually lost a lot of weight....but guess what...here I am now, overweight again!!

Idk why I was so pissed by the article, maybe it's because anyone that reads it would assume that that's the "winner's" way to lose the weight? Why wasn't there a person that did the bypass or sleeve or band a part of the 2017 winners?

I'm on day 7 of my liquid pre-op diet and it's not easy! It's required more self control than any other diet I've every done and once I'm done with these 14 days, guess what, I have another 14 days...yipeee....then I go back 35 years and eat baby food for a few weeks....oh such fun, does it sound easy to anyone yet? NOOOOOO! And maybe one day, in a time far far away from today, I'll be able to chew some solid food...or even have a piece of meat and dare I say, even a nut? :o

    MSN....you suck!

Rant over, thanks for letting me lose it for a sec there.

Seriously? Why would you get upset? Everyone is in the battle to lose. I busted my butt for years trying to lose 'naturally', so props to them if they were able to do so! I just think it's an odd mindset to have and to think that WLS is the only permanent way to lose weight, because that's false. It's just the option that works for US in particular.

    Umm, yes seriously!

The point was why exclude Bariatric surgery patients, why is a wls patients loss not considered a part of the winners circle for extreme weight loss?

And you know how hard it is to do those diets and trying to lose naturally. So Does that mean your loss is not as significant because you had wls?

As for what works, idk if wls will work for me or not but there are so many people out there that did have wls and lost a tremendous amount of weight and they deserve to be a part of the "winners circle" too. The point was why isn't a wls patient mentioned in the article.

That's all. My rant wasn't that wls is the only permanent way to lose weight. But neither are those programs and fad diets. I just said that that type of extreme weight loss is not the norm on those programs.

  6. Awe I'm glad you were able to take a positive note off of my totally moody rant! I am beginning to think that my body is in starvation mode and I'm ripping peoples heads off left and right in hopes of eating them LOOOL haha I'm totally j/k

We have a support group on this app called KIK, we message each other and stay up to date with our progress and what not, let me know if you're interested @raymia. We basically do the same thing we do here, but it's way easier.

  8. I'm on day 6 of my liquid only pre-op diet. 4 shakes a day sf Jello and Popsicles. One 5 oz serving of carbmaster yogurt and one 8 oz cup of skim milk per day. Water and low sodium broth. That's it. No meal and no veggies, personally day 4 was the worse for me. Yesterday and today. Smooth sailing. Hang in there and don't cheat. You're only cheating yourself and it's not worth the risk. I just take it a few hours at a time. I break my day up by shakes. shake #4 is in 2 hours so I can have a Popsicle or some broth until then.

    You got this! Stay strong!

  9. I've been all sorts of weight, slim, chubby, pregnant, fat pregnant, and now I'm obese borderline morbidly obese. Whenever I get asked what size I wear. I ask what size are you, then say 4 sizes more than you or 8 sizes more than you etc...they never ask again.

One time when i was pregnant and started really putting on the weight a old hag at my job said I don't look pregnant at all. I just look fat! Mind you I was a size 8 pre-pregnancy and a size 12 and 8 months pregnant when she called me fat.

I haven't done the surgery yet, but I'm not looking forward to the vicious comments that will definitely be directed my way. Especially from my co-workers.

I have told two girls at work already, one is a good friend and the other knows people that have done it and has been a great source of information about both successful and unsuccessful results and so on. They both will be coming with me to the gym once I can work out so we can keep each other accountable. The rest I'm just going to tell I lost the weight by not eating as much and exercising, which isn't really a lie...right?
