I have Aetna Choice POS II. After jumping though hoops for three months, my insurance coordinator submitted everything on Monday. Does anyone else have this plan? Are they easy to get an approval from? How quickly did you get your approval?
I'm just so anxious about the possibility of getting denied. I can't sleep and I'm overeating. After various diets, pills, and fitness programs and still gaining the weight back, I want my weight loss efforts to actually mean something!
I too have Aetna POS II. I will start my 3 months supervised diet in Feb. What requirements did you have to meet? I did my initial appointment last week.

I would guess your surgeon would want to see the terrain of your inner stomach before lopping it off from the outside.
True enough! How many days were you in the hospital after surgery?

The day before surgery? Or they billed you after?I paid $2000. That was the amount remaining on my deductible.

I was borderline but did not get a sleep study in the end. I think endoscopy is required. They test for a type of bacteria and look for things like ulcers before surgery.

I really am trying to avoid doing another endoscopy. I had a gallbladder removal and feel like they checked for the same things as a endoscopy during the biopsy. I will find out during my first appt

Did you have to do a endoscopy?I got mine done at Emory midtown 12/12/2016.. very professional but you have to meet certain requirements before you can initially meet with the surgeon... per insurance. Psych evaluation, Registered dietitian. I had open heart surgery last year due to aortic dissection I had to get my annual CT scan and cardiac clearance. 5yrs diet history. Letter of medical necessity from your primary doctor. Your first $300 is refunded if surgery not approved. You only pay the other $300 once approved before final nutrition class. Can not gain any weight once you start the process and you must attend nutrition classes consecutively 4-6 months depending on insurance requirements. Since I work for Emory Healthcare my process was smooth. Check into it due your own research.

I have heard great things about this location. Did you do a endoscopy also?Emory Bariatrics was awesome for me. I had Dr. Jamil Stetler and had little pain and zero complications. I had insurance through Cigna. First appt was the initial meeting with nutritionist and bloodwork and ekg. Beginning of the three month diet. I went for first appt on April 5 and was sleeved on August 4 after a 3 month supervised diet required by Cigna. Let me know if you need any other info.

I am in the process of working for Emory also. Did you meet your deductible by attending all these appts and testings. How much was your out of pocket charge before they did the surgery? I just read over your posts and saw you work for emory. Did they collect a fee the day before your surgery? Thank you so much for being so helpful.

Hello,
Does aetna require a endoscopy before gastric sleeve approval? Also what requirements did you do? 3 months or 6?

I recently had my gallbladder removed in December 2016. I have had a endoscopy a few years ago. I hope I do not have to complete one again.

I was just wondering if everyone had to complete a endoscopy as requirements with Aetna POS or any other insurance? I am basically asking is this a automatic requirement.

Did anyone use Dr. Macik at Northside hospital? Where you there for more than 24 hours or less? How was your experience?
Were you in network or out of network for the facility?
