  1. Has anyone had to move post surgery and switch doctors? I'm asking for a friend. She is 3 moo this post op and her husband is getting relocated for his job. She is basically being threatened that if she moves then she won't get her follow up care because other programs won't help her if she didn't get surgery with them. That doesn't seem right.

  2. As long as I spread my Fluid intake throughout the day it's no problem. The day I came home from the hospital I went a huge span without drinking and it was hard to catch up! How much Protein are you getting and from what sources?

I got 86g today. Unflavored protein has been a savior. I drink 1 Premier Protein a day with 2 scoops of unflavored protein which makes that 50g. I also have 3 3oz "meals" a day and add a scoop of unflavored protein to those too. I have mostly been doing Soups (cream of chicken yum) and some broth for my meals.

  3. Still taking pain meds at night otherwise I wake up a lot (mostly to pee) TMI I know but they really do pump you so full of liquids. Helps me fall back asleep faster if I take them. I went to the grocery store today and it made me tired which was really sad! LOL.

Oh, and I'm now addicted to the food channels. It's becoming a problem!

Thankfully I am sleeping through the night which keeps me pretty energized during the day. How is your Water and Protein? I was surprised it wasn't as hard to reach my intake goals as I thought.

  4. I'm set myself another goal weight to hit before surgery. I was so focused on getting approved that my weight hasn't moved in 2 weeks. Gives me something to work on.

I also know that there are still things I need to prepare for but I need to organize my thoughts and put a list together. My mind is all over the place thinking about surgery.

  5. I'm curious to know if we will really need to be out for 4 weeks. Or realistically, only 2 or 3 weeks.

That's really depends on the person and how long they want to stay out for work and how physically demanding their job is. Some people went back as early as a couple of days. Most people take 2-3 weeks. And others take 4-6weeks. I plan to take 5 weeks. Not necessarily because I think I need it but that way I can spend a good amount of time focusing on me.

  6. So happy you decided to see someone. It can only help with our success. Once the food is gone, we will have to start dealing with out ish. lol best of luck!

Thank you. I was able to get an appointment for next week. I'm happy I will be able to get one session in before surgery and will continue after surgery. I know what my issues are that cause me to eat, I just don't know how to fix them. I have always just ignored the issues and ate them away. Hoping therapy will help.

  7. That's a good one. Where was your "cyst" located? I'm going to be out for surgery and I work in a small office in a southern town where everybody needs to know everybody's business. I have a three people who know and support me. But everyone is going to be asking why I was off for a week. You gotta love small southern towns!

My stomach. I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease last year. Causes me to have pains in my midsection and I'm always nauseous. I told my coworkers those symptoms were because of a cyst in my midsection that needed to be surgically removed.

A lot of people say "it's none of their business" but like when people ask I don't feel comfortable being like "I'm not telling you" I would rather lie.

  10. Thanks Bekah
    Well said !!
seems very doable they way you spell it out !
Will you be goin to the support group on April 14th ?

Yeah I will be at both meetings. It's a pretty big group with a lot of great people. I have learned so much and you can ask any questions you have there.

The program itself is very doable and the time until surgery is highly dependant on how long it takes you to lose the weight. I just happen to catch the program at the wrong time when they were short handed. I'm glad to hear that they are staffed up and everything is moving along again.

  11. So exciting, Bekah! How are you feeling so far? I just want to hit the fast forward. I'm just working in my short term disability claim now and that is about it until my pre-op testing. I'm so happy to have a may 1st buddy [emoji4]

I'm feeling relieved. I went through a bunch of setbacks with my program. they were short staffed so they kept pushing my expected surgery time out. I was supposed to have surgery in March. I don't think it's hit me that it's actually happening. I submitted my LOA yesterday and am waiting for them to send me the rest of that paperwork. I have my preop appointment on April 21st. I am excited to have it done though.

  12. I have an appt set (the 3 hr one) with the Surgeon, Nutritionist and Coordinator. I was wondering what the process is after that? I know that they give you a set amount of weight to lose, but if I lost the weight pretty quick, is there still a lot to do? Trying to gauge a timeline being a mommy and all.
    Thanks!

With Fremont Kaiser the only requirements are to hit your surgery goal weight and do a psych eval. The quicker you lose the weight the quicker you can get the surgery. Process is pretty straight forward. And they do use your highest recorded weight so you are 9lbs closer to your goal!

Before you can scheduke your psych eval you wilm need to be within 5lbs of your goal weight, do a short super easy quiz and attend one support group meeting. The Fremont Support group is great. This month they will be meeting on the 14th and the 28th from 6pm-8pm. There are also other groups in other towns if you can't make the Fremont one.
