For me I just had to go to the orientation. Then had an appointment that was with a surgeon, nutritionist, and program coordinator (all in one appointment). Now I am working on the required weight loss. Next is the psych exam then it's surgery. I was up to date on all my testing so I didn't need to do anything. I have heard of other people needing additional testing; sleep studies, CT scans, etc. But that all depends on yours and your families history and whether your surgeon thinks it's necessary. Who is the surgeon you are meeting with? Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Kaiser NorCal has a nutrition program like that but it's not required in order to have surgery. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

I am hoping for March. They go based on your highest recorded weight in the last year. If you have been to the doctor and been weighed at something close to your weight now you would still be approved if you fall under 40%. They don't actually approve you for surgery until after you lose the weight. You will have to attend a group orientation next that will just go over the surgeries and the diet. Then you have another appointment one-to-one with a surgeon and the dietitian to talk about what surgery you want and what diet you will be do before and after surgery. Then you have to lose the weight, then go through a psych exam (when you are within 5lbs of your goal weight), then when you meet your goal you will get approved. They told us in orientation that everyone would be required to lose weight. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

I am going through Fremont kaiser too. I got a call literally the day after my doctor referred me. Are you working on losing weight now? They will require you to lose 10%. I wish I would have started before I met with the surgeon so I could speed up the process. I am currently half way to my goal weight for surgery. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

    Secret Surgery

At work I told my boss I was going to be on a medical leave and she knows I have a cyst so she just assumed that's why. I will let her keep thinking that. I am more worried about family and friends. They are not as shy to ask questions or judge as work would be. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

    Secret Surgery

I want to follow this post! My boyfriend is the only person that knows and I want to keep it that way but how do I explain the magical weight loss that conveniently happened right after I take 4 weeks off of work for surgery? I hear a lot of people keep it a secret but I feel like it's a hard thing to hide. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Hey everyone! I am going through Fremont too. My surgeon is Dr. Dutta. I am working on losing my pre-surgery weight now. Fingers crossed I get my surgery in the beginning of March. Have any of you guys been to the Pleasanton support group? I'm going next Tuesday and am kinda nervous about it. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
