  1. I have a mandatory pre-op class 3/10, and an endoscopy procedure 3/17. I won't meet with my nutritionist again until after surgery. I started this process in September, psych appointments, cardiologist, pulmonologist, PCP, blood work, ultrasounds, so glad that part is done!

@ fat too fabulous, I'm starting my pre op diet Monday 3/13, what about you?

  2. Yay when do you start pre op I gotta go in march 7 to give blood and to meet with the nutrionest

  3. I'm in Jersey. Had mine 2/16 in Atlanticare. I'm feeling well. My incision spots are sore and my stomach is sore but overall doing well. On full liquid diet. It's hard to eat or drink any amount...my stomach gurgles at the smallest sip.
GLad to see so many New Jersians.

I'll have my surgery 3/27.. very nervous! I will be at Virtua Voorhees. I'm glad u r doing well and that all is going good!

  4. I see so many of us share the same fears, complications and/or not waking up. I'm a single mother of four, two are basically grown the other two, not so much. I lost my husband almost 13 years ago, so my fears are exasperated by the thought that they will have no parent left is something goes horribly wrong. But I've researched the stats, and the pros outweigh the cons and I put my faith in God that the worse case scenario will not happen. We all want to be healthy, so we are taking steps to be so.

Not at all. It can be difficult to figure out which one is best. I wish you luck! I think it is possible to loose the same amount of weight but that it takes longer and more control with the sleeve. Though each has pros and cons. Which one do you think it right for you? If have any other questions, this is the place to ask them.

I'm down about 140 from my highest, a year ago, and about 130 since surgery. I'm still about 25 pounds from my goal and I expect it to take 5 or more months. Just because weight loss slows down.

I am definitely going with the sleeve, the least evasive. Your weight loss is awesome! I was nervous about the surgery, but the nervousness went away since it's taking so long for my papers to be submitted to insurance. I'm sure once the dust settles down, I'll be nervous again, nervous and excited that is

  6. Hey everyone! It is great to hear people's experiences. I'm not sure what part of Jersey I am but I would consider it central. We are transplants to NJ but we love it!

I had rny 10 months ago through Dr Bell at Summit Medical.

Best wishes to everyone approaching surgery.

How are you doing 10 months out? I'm planning on the sleeve but I understand you lose more via RNY. Do you mind if I ask how much you have loss?

Awesome!! So glad your recovery is good! I'm so nervous about that part. I hear so many different stories, some good and some bad. But it depends on the person so I'm trying not to think about it because I'm going through with it regardless. I hope I'll be surprised like you about the pain!!

  8. You don't have long now. Exciting!!! Dr. David Greenbaum. I've missed the support group this month so I'll be going next month. Do you know if you'll be in Marlton or Mount Holly? I'm assuming he uses both facilities, but I'll find out soon.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

I'm using Dr. Acholonu. My surgery should be in Voorhees, it's closer to where I live. I'm assuming you go to the support group in Moorestown because I know that support group day has passed for January, but there's also a support group the 19th in Voorhees, I will be going to that one. I'm nervous and excited, but thanks to BariatricPal, I see there's a lot of us out here going through and who have gone through this process. I love to read about their experiences, the good and the bad, to help prepare myself. The 19th will be my first support group. I plan to continue going to them after surgery because I know there's strength in numbers, and I'm sure I will need that support!

  9. I was sleeved on Tuesday Jan 10th. Home from hospital yesterday. Pain is manageable incisions are sore. Gas pain is tolerable. Been walking a lot that helps. Stomach feel a little swollen. Is that normal? How long should I wait before I weigh myself ?
