    Tired already of liquid!

Started mine today...not really hungry but they taste very sweet. Premier Protein. I am looking forward to my bariatric soup tonight for a savory flavor! 13 days to go so I may be gagging by the end of this. ????sonkat5355????

How fast can you return to work ?

I am taking 8 weeks. I an an art teacher that travels to 24 classrooms a week pushing a cart. Stressful....I have the days and my internist who approved my surgery will give me as long as I need. I have 10 weeks of sick pay left. My surgeon on the other hand said he wouldn't give 6 weeks to a construction worker. He gave me 6 but I bypassed him by my internist. I told him teaching and traveling is very hard. Plus kids run in the hall and I don't need someone running into me. This has happened before and my cart has hit a rough patch and fell over hitting me in my leg. I will go back for the last 9 weeks then retire. I'm done!!! ????sonkat5355????

    Another step closer

How much do you have to lose? If u can keep it up and off then go for it. Are you young? You have time. But as my surgeon says all but a few of the biggest losers have gained back and more. ????sonkat5355????

    Another step closer

I think we all do. So many thoughts have crossed my mind. I think it's normal! I feel stressed too but decided this surgery outweighs the negative affects of obesity! I am not going to feel ashamed because I have been on so many diets and have kept it off for quite awhile before. Now with age and menopause it's not as easy. I want to enjoy my life that is left. I'm 61 and 8 months old. So 62 is right there. Best of Luck...my day is January 31. ????sonkat5355????

  11. Scared!! And so confused. So much information.. I haven't even started buying anything as far as shakes.Go get prepared, I did last month. I bought shakes, pudding, Jello, Popsicles, Bariatric Soup, crystal light, Protein powder. Ifelt relieved to have it and start liquid today. Preparation is key. I still need to buy Gas X and Colace stool softener for after surgery. Go buy today or asap! ????sonkat5355????
  12. Mine is Jan 31 and stated the liquid diet today. Feel anxious and last night me adult daughter said I'm over thinking it. It's just the step to a new way of life. So I know how your feeling. I got approved quickly because I'm self pay so it has come quickly which is scary. I will do it though! ????sonkat5355????
  13. Well the liquid diet was no fun, but actually in retrospect (and while I was doing it) not as bad as I thought it would be. I was actually fine during the day, it was the evenings that were tough. Dropping 25 lbs in 2 weeks was pretty nice too! I can't speak to the other surgeries, but I did have an appendectomy and umbilical hernia repair a year before I got sleeved and the recovery was tougher for that and more painful, for what it's worth. Can't speak for your doctor, but I wasn't intubated when I woke up, they had an oxygen mask on but they do that for everyone. Good luck, don't let your nerves talk you out of saving your life! Yes, sometimes thinking about the liquid diet might not be as bad as doing it!!!???? ????sonkat5355????
  14. Yeah I was surprised. I always thought it was liquid diet the first week, but a friend of mine who had the same surgery with the same practice (different doctor) told me they gave him scrambled eggs the next day, and same thing for me, I guess every doctor is different. They gave me a diet plan for next few months. The first month is just pureed meats. Second month I can add veggies. Third month I think is fruits. Really, every Dr is different. Mine will be liquids for several days post op. I have heard some don't have to even do pure liquid diet pre op. ????sonkat5355????
  15. Thank you for the detailed info. I am afraid to start the liquid diet this coming Tuesday Jan 17. I think this may be the hardest part. I bought the Premier shakes, Bariatric Soups, jello, tea, pudding, low sodium broth, etc. Some have told me they cheated a bit in that two week phase. I've had many surgeries, c sections, tummy tuck, breast lift and the pain of the children sections were the greatest pain. I don't know why but I'm more afraid of this surgery coming up on Jan. 31 then all of those. I'm sure there will be a bit of remorse but I'd rather be healthy and it will be quicker this way. I'm 61 and have arthritis, 5ft 5in and 275 lbs. I've lost before and kept it off for awhile but now being older it's hard to diet for 3 years to lose 75 or more pounds. I don't have time to do that like when I was younger. One thing I'm afraid of is they told me they keep you intabated when you wake up to make sure you can breath on your own. I've never had that and hate that thought. Others I've spoken to got pain pumps but my Dr says he gives shots for the pain in the hospital. I do have may questions. Thank you, ????sonkat5355????

    Crying on the bathroom floor

Sorry you are so sad! I haven't had the surgery yet but maybe you are still healing. Healing tissue is swollen and holds water. Perhaps, you are eating too little...maybe you need more Protein. I believe you are just in a stall and try not to weigh yourself. Stress, keeps fat on. It's a hormone the body secretes out and holds on to belly fat. I'm not a Dr but call your nutritionist. ????sonkat5355????

    Three days of liquids

I'm so afraid v to start next Tuesday....that naming hunger. But you have to do it and I will. Try some hot clear Soup. I bought BARIATRIC souped on Amazon that have Protein in them....hopefully they fill a person up. Maybe you could buy some. Good luck! PS I'll know next week. ????sonkat5355???? I meant nawing hunger. ????sonkat5355????
  25. I have not had surgery yet, however, I think deli meat slice very thin such as turkey, roast beef, etc. Not greasy, fatty, etc. Easy to chew to bits. Not sure about cheese! ????sonkat5355????
