I'm hoping to meet anyone from Africa, Ghana to be precise. I want to know how or what you do when you miss home food. Is there a way you are able to incorporate some Ghanaian dishes into your meals as you progress???I'm only 5 weeks post op.

How much weight did have u lost with the band?Hi...I was banded in Monterey, MX by Dr. Sanchez. I could not be banded in the US at that time because I was not considered "morbidly obese". I did the yo yo with my weight most of my adult life and was never able to maintain a constant healthy weight. At that time the lap band was very new and a lot of people were going to MX for placement.
I have not had a fill in over 10 years and still have restriction. I still have to eat slow, chew well and am not able to eat certain foods unless I have had a drink or two (which loosens the band...relaxes me). I still have a difficult time eating out .... I eat much better at home. I can't eat in the mornings and have carnation instant usually. I try to get my Protein in with cottage cheese, yogurt, organic chicken and eggs (eggs don't always do well). I juice occasionally to get my veggies and fruits.
I am considering removing my band this next year because I would like to be able to eat salads and fruit naturally and I do have to work at getting my nutrients in. Unfortunately, ice cream, candy and white russians go through very well, lol. I know I would lose another ten pounds if I would cut out the sugar.
I still slime a lot and that concerns me. Im not really sure what I will do. I am not being followed by a doctor and have not been for 10 years. I do have a lot of heart burn and am sure it is because of the sliming. I am going to see a doc to get checked out this year for that.
I do not regret getting the band as it has helped me in the long run. The band is the boss as you all know.
Any questions, feel free to ask. Also, I had a Tummy Tuck in Monterey with Dr Cardenas about a year after my weight loss and that was the best thing I ever did for ME....

I think u should try and walk as soon as u can. I was warned of gas pains as soon as they brought me to my room nd the nurse said the best thing was taking short walks..Guess wat??i didn't want any extra pain with wat I was already going through so I started walking the next day after surgery. I never experienced any gas pains till now...Today marks exactly 4 weeks post op...ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1483601525.646163.jpg
Well there's no turning back now... I'm in so much pain. Mostly gas pains but thats no joke! And my ribs so tight and achy. I feel like I can't Move my upper body in my own. I had hoped I'd get some sleep in tonight but I'm waking up every 45 minutes. How long did these gas pains last for you guys?

This actually happened to me...my sleeve was scheduled for 9/28 then my wbc was slightly, I mean just a lil bit elevated. They sent me back for another test and it came back same. I didn't feel sick or anything. By a week to my surgery I caught the cold and cough. Surgery was put off for me to heal, I had to wait 4 weeks to be cleared of any cough or cold, then for another date for 12/5. I'm 4 weeks post op and doing fine now..DS scheduled for January 17th. Started my liquid diet yesterday. Had my preop testing done Monday. Saw today that my WBC is slightly elevated, my Vitamin D and Iron are low. I'm not feeling sick at all. My allergies have been super bad though. I am hoping this doesn't cost me my surgery date. Any one else have any blood work issues????

I felt same when I got home at first. My sister use to eat right in front of me just to see my reaction but I always looked at the bigger picture. I'm almost 4 weeks post op.White Sale I totally understand what you mean when you say it was my decision but sometimes I think people do it 2 taunt me. And it makes me feel mad and a little bit of sad.

Hello all..I'm new to the group. I was sleeved almost a month ago and in my mushy stage now per my doctor's order. I would really like to get suggestions with meal preps as I'm tired of tuna salads..Also I have a problem of regurgitation almost every time I eat anything, does this mean I'm eating too much?
