  4. Also I wanted to mention if you havent found a surgeon yet, you may want to find a office that does alot of the requirements in one location. I did pysch evaulation over the phone but everthing else is out of the same location. The have a nutrionist on site and the other personnel comes to that location for the other testing. I am not sure if all surgeons are setup that way, maybe? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  5. My insurance is through BCBS Anthem. Yesterday I completed my 5th diet visit. So far Ive lost about 20lbs, honestly Ive been concentrating mostly on eating slowly, chewing more and sipping. I also cutout sweets and soda. Ive been increasing my protein to help after surgery. I havent tried any protein shakes because Im sure what I can tolerate now may be quite different after surgery so Ill have a few samples ready and decide afterwards. Ive been using a sippy cup from time to time to help train myself. The pysch test was boring but necessary. I was told 3hrs but lasted maybe 45mins. Cardio testing was a workout but proved how much I am out of shape. My next appointment is March 9th. They said the insurance company can take up to 16days I believe to approve. So maybe at the end if the April for surgery. Good luck to you. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

  7. Hi Ronnie are you doing tge 6mos diet for insurance approval? Also does you insurance require a letter from your PCP? Im asking because Im also doing a 6mos diet for approval, and I finished my 5 appt yesterday and they said after my next appt thats it. They will send paperwork for approval. I was told a letter from your PCP is good but not a requirement. I have BCBS Anthem Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

  16. I have BCBS Anthem which they require a 6 mos diet. Im doing the diet with the nutrionist at my surgeon's office. So each month we meet and do weigh ins, blood pressure check, etc. I have 2 more appt to go. The nurse there said she and the surgeon usually have the paperwork completed in a few days and typically here back from the insurance company within 2 weeks. She said they have so many days to respond but I can't remember what she said. This was first discussed at my first appointment so if you already submitted your paperwork than perhaps you do not have to do 6mos diet Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App Hello, who decides that? 17. I was told no more than 2 weeks. Did you have to do the 6mos diet for approval? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  18. Perhaps they may just need all the documentation from your previous provider and a curremt letter of recommendation from your surgeon. Every insurance provider has an appeal process. I would start there. Also contact your previous provider and ask them whats thier process for approved claims that are transferred to another provider. Thats souds crazy, so did they sell your policy or all of their policies to this new provider? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  19. Hi im currently doing a 6 mos diet with my surgeon & nutrionist. It's a requirement for insurance approval (BCBS Anthem). This is not the same as the pre op diet (liver shrinking, liquid diet, etc.) My diet now consist of: increase in Protein, nuts, yogurt, veggies, and very low carbs. Also im taking Multivitamins and practing chewing slower, timing my meals, and sipping Water. I was first discourage about having to do a 6 mos diet for approval, but its actually a good thing. Its given me time to research more and somewhat practice for whats to come. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  20. Hi im in Prosper, havent had the surgery yet, but I was just wondering who was your surgeon? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  21. Wow, I have BCBS Anthem and I also have to do a 6mos diet program. So did meet with a surgeon and nutrionist each month while doing the 6mos diet? Im asking because they informed me that after my 6th appointment they will send in the paperwork that same week for approval. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  22. Im nervous about having the surgery despite not having a surgery date yet, but I am way more nervous about how my health will be this time next year if I dont. Its natural to have fear of surgery and fear of failure. But ive learn so much from reading about others success and failures. I am pretty sure you have to and know exactly what to expect, the dos and donts, and how to get the answers you need when something comes up. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
