    Protein bars?

Don't eat protein bars if you want to lose. Stick to real food.

    Hormone Levels Checked?

What did they say about the lack of weight loss? I enjoy lost 63 lbs in 7 months and my PA and nut both said I was on the low end of the expectation and gave me advice on kicking it up again. When you say you eat healthy, how many carbs are you getting?
  3. At 5 weeks worry about liquids first. In another 3 or four weeks you can worry about protein. You will not get malnourished at this point. No need to eat more than 3x a day. Anything more is grazing and that's a slippery slope down the road. Try obesityhelp site instead. More long term vets and better advice and support there.

    Yet another NSAID question

Until I read some of these posts I never heard a Dr. say it's ok to use NSAIDs after sleeve. Once in a while it's fine but on a regular basis it's not. Risk of ulcer over time is huge after sleeve and your stomach is too small to risk it. I've heard lots of horror stories from people who thought they'd be fine and ended up in E.R.

    Energy levels after VSG?

I went back to work at 1 week but I have a desk job and work from home if not traveling. I was able to work long days but dragged ass at night. I didn't get my full energy back until the end of month 3.

    Success

Congrats!! That's got to be a wonderful feeling. I'm 6 months out and hope to join Onederland myself soon.

How long a stall is too long?

I'm 6 months out and I'm at 600-800 cal/day. Make sure you measure everything so you're not getting extra.

    No Weight Loss

Confused about the eating part. Bread, berries and soup? You should be getting 60g of protein first and drinking 2 liters of water. Bread is not on the program until maintenance for most wls patients. You should be ok with eating small portions because that's the whole point of the surgery. Eat 600-800 cal a day with the right protein and water and skip the bread and fruit and you will start losing again.

    Oatmeal?

No oatmeal or grains at all. I'm surprised it's on an approved list from a bariatrics center.
  10. I guess I have to ask why you would want your full stomach back if you still need to lose weight? Honestly I don't miss mine or even think about it except to be grateful I can be satisfied now with less. But you can eat your way back from vsg too. You will get hungry and can eat the wrong foods. So if that's an issue you might want to work with a therapist in the process too. RNY is still the gold standard so don't be afraid of that either.

    popcorn when?

No popcorn or nuts for the first 4 months minimum for safety. None for the first year if you're trying to lose weight. High calories and no benefit. Farmers feed corn to animals to fatten them up. It works the same for humans.

    Is something wrong with me?

You are 100% normal. You won't really feel the restriction until solid food like meat. Your body is healing and you will start losing. I've felt great since day 1 post op so I hope you have the same experience.

    Fiber....not so much

My program has no grains or cereal until maintenance. Refried beans are allowed - 2 tbsp - and they recommend you chew them very well because of the gas potential.
  14. Fluids. I had the same issue. Keep drinking water and peeing. At the end of week 2 you'll be down like magic.
  15. Don't worry it will all come together. I have BCBS also. I had psych evaluation at the start. I didn't have any med tests until 2 weeks before surgery. Chest X-ray, blood work. They didn't scope me in advance. Read about surgeries. Watch #askdra online at youtube. He answers every question about sleeve and the differences. Most doctors won't do lap band anymore. Mine only does revisions now. Do sleeve or RNY ; I chose sleeve but I think my loss would have been more with rny. It's still the gold standard but either one takes commitment. Your surgeon should help steer you. The seminar really will answer a lot. Make a list of questions and bring them. Now focus on whatever they tell you. For me it was giving up my bad caffeine habit and learning to eat slower.

    Calorie (and macro) goals?

Minimum 60 G protein Minimum 64 oz water Protein first Eat 3 bites protein to one bite veg Most foods are forbidden until maintenance Stay under 20 g carbs Under 800 calories

    Feeling good

Great job! You look wonderful and should give yourself a big pat on the back.

Did anybody else's skin clear up?

I hung on to my diet cola until a few days prior too. Like you, my skin clearing up has been an extra that I didn't expect.
  19. You should be ok to go just plan your eating which will be almost nothing and no alcohol if it's that type of wedding.

    28 July Sleeve date

Sharing is totally optional at work. I started off telling 3 friends and one of them I regret telling. She seems to think that this is some weird experiment and tells everyone that I've done this. So now lots of people know that I wouldn't have told. Awkward. But now I'm 6 months post and she's seen me lose 63 lbs while she's gained again. Good luck to you!

    Never eating soup again

I so relate! Now I am 6 months post and still don't want soup. Hang in there - you'll be eating real food soon.

    Chalk or Gummy

My surgeon prohibits gummies. None. Bariatric Advantage has some chewies in different flavors.

    Chicken wings and worry

Just because you can tolerate it doesn't make it a good idea. Chewing food is to help with satiety. And gulping water will flush your pouch and could make you feel hungry. My stomach is not tender at all so I try and follow the eating 'rules' so I won't be hungry all the time.
  24. Hair loss actually is normal after wls. Mine started at 3 months our nut now at 6 months it's coming back. Very typical. Don't get discouraged. Nobody goes bald from surgery.

    Stall at 8 months WTH

I'm at 6 months and I've been around 600 cal the whole time with 60+ go of protein. My surgeon and nut say 1000 cal is way too much at this point.
