    Naughty days?

Too bad you took it that way. There are plenty of Facebook groups where sleevers can talk about all the thing they gourge on off plan and get support from people who say it's okay. I never ever said I was a perfect eater. The question was does it hurt your weight loss. The answer is yes it does. People sometimes post here because they need to hear the truth. That's not being judgemental.
  2. Sleeve was so much easier than my breast reduction. I had virtually no pain with my sleeve operation. Never took a pain pill. The mental/behavioral challenge was much harder for me with the sleeve than the physical part. BR healing was much longer/harder.
  3. I've never heard of a routine leak test. Leaks shouldn't happen and are not common. Gurgling is very common. Your stomach is now empty most of the time and you'll hear a lot more gurgling than ever before. You shouldn't swallow anything bigger than a small pea at this point. You shouldn't need to worry about your vitamins now. Focus on liquids the first few weeks. It sounds like you're fine if you can get your fluids down.Add your vitamins in a few weeks. Do you have a local doctor for any follow up? You can always YouTube 'AskDrA' with Dr Alvarez. Those video clips will answer everything you need to know about post surg experiences.

    Naughty days?

All of you are risking your health if you are cheating like within a few weeks of surgery. 'Treating yourself' is fine but why does it have to be with food? This is not to judge but to let you know this is not a path to success with the surgery. Yes, it will stop you from reaching your goal. And if you were sleeved 2 weeks ago, you are literally putting your life at risk. Seek out a good therapist to find out why you are sabotaging yourself.

    Maintenance calories

Everyone is different so you'll need to experiment, as you said. 1000 calories is maintenance for me. I barely lose on 800/day. I need to stay around 600 to lose.

    Psychiatrist Appointment

The pre surg psych evaluation is not a therapy session. It's a CYA for the surgeon/hospital/ insurance team to make sure there are no big red flags.

    Almost time

    Good luck! You'll do great!

    So scared

Being scared is natural and healthy. This is major surgery. However it truly is safer than many other common things, as you said. As long as you've done your research and trust your surgeon, you'll be fine. Remember they all want you to succeed too.
  9. I would echo the comments from megsic18. I had virtually no pain. The pre surg process was easy and they asked me a million questions. Then I got put out and the next thing I remember was waking up in recovery. They'll make sure you walk around the floor. You'll pee a lot because they hydrate you for surgery. You'll probably weigh more immediately after surgery from the water weight. I wasn't expecting that. Overall it was pretty simple and so worth it. I'm one year out this week and haven't regretted a minute. Good luck.

    Time off of work

It depends on your job, available time, and general health. I went back after five days but I have a desk job and work mainly from home. I had very little pain. You won't be able to lift anything. But it's still major surgery and you'll be adjusting to a new way of living. Also I was very tired the first month. That's very common due to the anesthesia. You likely won't need more than two weeks at max. Many people take only 1 week.
  11. Bypass revision is not common. Your anatomy hasn't changed so there's likely no need to redo it. Are you tracking everything you eat with a tracker and being accountable to yourself? We can eat our way around any surgery. Start by going back to basics. Water, protein, lay off carbs for a while. What do you eat in a typical day? We could help if you wanted to share.
  12. I was down about 50 lbs before people started to notice.

    Vitamins

Centrum. Take 2 daily plus an extra 3 k units of D3. Do not take gummies if your less than 3 months post op. Dangerous. And do not take Flintstones vitamins at all unless you are 5 years old.

    North New Jersey Peeps!

DO NOT do lap band. Reputable surgeons and the major centers no longer do them at all. You will have multiple issues and eventually have to have it removed. My surgeon only does removals now. Several a week. I chose VSG but RNY is still the gold standard. Good luck. Do your research and you'll do great.
  15. It may help to go to a WLS hospital support group in your area so you can ask questions and hear how others eat. To be successful you really do have to change your eating habits dramatically for a long time. That is more difficult psychologically than some people realize. Once your healed and a few months out you'll be able to digest anything so it's not a matter of whether you can eat something but how you can fit it into your plan. The first few months are hard if your not prepared for the amount of restriction. It's easier with time. Now I feel in control of my eating and don't want to go back to my old ways. I'm 10 months post op and down almost 80 lbs.
  16. I don't know specific to Denver but what is approved varies by insurance company. I had to do mine through my surgeons program (BS/BS). Most PCs won't do this and a lot of public plans are excluded. Call your surgeons office or insurance company and ask where to go. They should know what's approved.

    I'm lost. HELP!!!

First find the hospitals in your area that do the surgery. They usually have free seminars on what to expect where you can ask questions. If they offer support groups, go to a couple of those also and talk to people there. The surgeons office or hospital can usually help with the insurance part since they deal with it all the time. Good luck. It's a journey.

    Judge me, seriously.

3 months out I was told to stick to no more than 600 cal/ day. I went up to 800 at 6 months. I'm 8 months out now and still between 600-800. Goal is minimum 60g of protein and try to get to 80. My program doesn't want anyone at 1000 calories unless your close to maintenance. No need to slow the loss during the surgery honeymoon phase. But what you listed doesn't add up to 1000 calories. Are you tracking all your food to make sure?
  19. Are you still on liquids or soft food? 1 month out liquid should be your focus. Also it's counter intuitive but increasing your water will help a lot with nausea. And I agree with changing vitamin brands. Skip your vitamins for a few days and see if that's the issue.

    Gall Bladder removal surgery tomorrow

As jess9395 said, it's very common. My dr. put me on gallbladder medication after surgery as a preventative. It's becoming more common too to have the gallbladder removed at the time of surgery to avoid any second surgery. Good luck.

    Surgery was the EASY part

So true! Hang in there because it does get easier with time. Once you're used to it and the weight is coming off it will become your new normal.

    Chicken too early dangerous?

You can end up in the hospital in emergency surgery by advancing too quickly. It happens frequently to people who think it doesn't really matter. It is a big deal so don't do it.

    How are people losing 10lbs/month?!

At 2 months out most plans have you at 600 calories and focused on getting in all your protein and liquids. Don't try and advance too quickly. Everyone loses at a different rate and there unfortunately will be stalls along the way. It's very common to stall at 2 weeks and then again at 2 months as your body adjusts. You might want to check out the obesityhelp forums. There's not as much random advice.

    19 days out.

It's very common to stall at 3 weeks out. They talk about it in my program a lot. It's just your body adjusting. Hang in there and keep going. It will start coming off again if you're sticking to plan. I know it's frustrating because I went through it too.

Is it safe to do this 3 months out?

Your stomach is fully healed at 3 months so go for it if you don't have other issues that would preclude it. Too scary for me But have fun!
