    Ice Cream Post Op

Have you tried Crystal Light? I actually bought little boxes in every flavor but have yet to open one. I imagine it's like a melted popsicle/ sugar free kool aid. Also are you taking your antacid? I take omeprazole which is a proton pump inhibitor that eliminates some of the acids which allegedly may cause some feelings of hunger.

    Ice Cream Post Op

I don't think it will do you stomach harm but I'm not a doctor and I know a lot of people here including myself don't want to be seen as enablers! You are barely four days post op and your stomach is still healing. If its sugar free, its basically like a popsicle. You could be asking about eating something worse for you. It's better than the shrimp person at 23 days. or bacon at 2 or whatever else has been seen on here. Ice cream goes in like a liquid melting in your stomach so yeah it's up to you. Your tummy! Myself, I'm a tad hungry right now so I'm opting for a good old fashioned sugar free jello.

    Ice Cream Post Op

I had a little Halo Top ice cream within my full liquids stage, it was easy on the tummy and a nice little treat. But just a few spoons of it, one time. Wouldn't turn it into a habit!

    Head Hunger!

I second what elisa5150 has to say. I have to take omeprazole myself otherwise I feel the hungries creep in. It taste horrible but it does the job. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pity

It's like telling a recovering drug addict, sorry you can't shoot up anymore buddy! Dur. Not to say that everyone who gets wls is an addict but the analogy fits. The most I've gotten is my dad saying he didn't want to eat tacos in front of me, which while I do wish I could eat some (am on full liquids rn) I told him not to worry. It's a matter of desensitizing for me and it's just a work in progress. My body, my choice - I don't need pity either! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Diet Constipation?

Because you're not eating solid foods like you used to your fiber intake has probably lowered. I regularly take fiber capsules. Before my surgery they asked me to drink a whole bottle of magnesium citrate which is an extreme laxative to clear the bowls before surgery. I wouldn't be afraid to take a few tbsps of Milk of Magnesia. No worries though, everybody has to poo. lol
  7. Nope you guys sure aren't the only ones. I used to be a stoner. Now for special occasions although I'm all about it's medical uses too. I'm barely day nine post op though so the thought of smoking hasn't really crossed my mind. If I had more choices here I'd just buy those little vials of thc oil and drop em on to my tongue. 12. The nutritionist at the hospital told me I should focus more on how much Protein and Water I take in, however, while I fully understand this and am taking it into account, I'm super used to logging my food on the MyFitnessPal app. Pre-op I was anywhere from 1200-1600 calories a day trying to cut back and lose weight in preparation for my gastric sleeve surgery. 4 days out and I'm between 500-600 calories (trying to do 3 Protein shakes min. for protein goal, Jello, and broth, had a sugar free popsicle today too). Just wondering how calories might fluctuate in the months to come. What's normal for a bariatric patient? My current TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is approximately 2716 based on an online calculator. So I'm eating less, at a much bigger deficit than I could normally live off which explains why WLS works so great as a tool. But still the question burns, where to cap myself off for calories? Pre-op, I just absolutely tried not to go over 2k calories each day. Now is it more like 1000? What's eating too little, what is too much? I'm making it so I have three meals a day (a protein shake) with some Snacks in between or in the evening (usually broth/miso Soup, jello). 3 of my Premier Protein shakes at 160 calories per bottle are 480 so is that my minimum to get by? Trying to work it out. If there's anyone that knows about this please let me know. I don't see anything wrong with counting calories or logging food like I do so I don't know why my nutritionist couldn't just give me the straightforward and helpful advice I was looking for. .-. I will keep logging for peace of mind, especially for how hard I've worked to cut back and be mindful with portion control and what not. Thanks y'all.

  14. Hello December sleevers! I got home from the hospital yesterday after spending the night in. It wasn't so bad. I actually got some sleep in between the nurses coming in for their routine maintenance and stuff. I sure as heck miss the pain ball they had attached to by stomach with a pump I could push a button to add more every ten minutes. Some one please tell me at which point this pain might subside though. Previously, I saw Vicodin as a powerful painkiller but it hasn't been very affective for me since I got home. Just put me to sleep for a few hrs but the pain is still there. :S

  17. Howdy! If you had thin hair preop as it was like me you're probably extra concerned about hair loss after surgery. I know I am. What special measures are you taking to keep what ya got? Right now I'm taking a hair, skin, and nails Multivitamin and focusing on getting 90-110 g of Protein and may also look into getting collagen supplements if it helps. Just curious to see what you guys might be taking and about what's working and what's not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
