Hungry all the time?
sleevinpops replied to avatarkorraa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is everyone also getting in cardio? I so often see everyone talking about the virptamins, getting in their Protein, not more often than not, nothing about light exercise (walking at least). Just curious... I was having the same thing happening. When I checked with my nut, she saw I was basically burning so many additional calories (800-1,000 per day) so was not getting enough in. Was allowed to increase my intake of protein. Has made a difference. If you are getting your cardio in, you may want to look at your specific numbers to make sure you are adjusted as needed. -
Almost 4 Months Post Op With Pain
sleevinpops replied to mylighthouse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you strain or over exert yourself recently? Are you taking anything for the constipation, and has it helped with the pain? I think this is something better left for your doctor. -
Hunger pains. What the eff?!
sleevinpops replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe have some low far string cheese with it to add variety, but another egg should be fine if you can tolerate it. -

4-5 hours sounds long. My nutritionist has me eating 5 small meals (includes 2 snacks) of high protein each day. Works out to be every 3 hours. Keep carbs low still. -
Newbie to VSG, just starting my journey
sleevinpops replied to SarahSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As difficult as it may be, I think it is worth it to wait . This is a major lifestyle change that you will want to prepare for, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. I'm sure you realize, it is only a tool to help us in the long term, it is the habits that we need to break and pretty much rewrite ourselves with our relationship with food and the triggers that we have dealt with by eating. Rushing to have it done may not give you the time to start making and getting comfortable with the changes post surgery. -

So excited!

Congratulations! The number is great, but more importantly how are you feeling? What other positive things have you realized as well? -
It will seem that way at first, but as you move through the journey, it will get more manageable. Enjoy the journey, take the time to prepare not only your body, but mind and spirit too. You got this!

Good for you sullie! The surgery was not meant to change what we eat, but rather to control how much. My surgical group has continually stressed that it is ok to eat "regular" food and not think I am cheating. I am living, just with a new perspective and mindset to control how much and how often. I am still only a few weeks from surgery, so have been looking for new "spins" on some of my favorite foods. Looking and finding so many healthy options, (making bbq ribs for dinner tonight actually! Sugar free bbq sauce and only 25 calories) but know from time to time, could have an indulgence.

I think it is best to forget about the number, focus on how you feel. I know I have lost because: - I had to buy new clothes, my old were too big! - My back doesn't hurt as much as my belly isn't hanging out like before! - I bought a new belt because I was tired of drilling in more holes to fit right! - I am walking everyday 10k steps without knee pain any more! - my kids can hug me and there arms can wrap all around me now! - when I see others who haven't seen me in a while, they say "wow! You look great!" I can go on and on, but think this is a good baseline. We spent a lot of time, energy and made great sacrifices to take this step, so we could do things & experience things that were difficult or impossible before. That is / should be our motivation...a number is just a number, the benefits however are the reward. I'd love to hear how others are realizing without the scale.

I am not allowed any starchy vegetables (or any vegetables) for the first 6 weeks, then only 40-60 grams per day for the first 6 months. No rice or pasta either for now. Keep in mind, soup and other foods are going to have carbs too, you really can't avoid them altogether, so you may want to use an app like myfitnesspal to track your nutrition and calories. Check with your nutritionist to see how many carbs, sugars, fiber etc is right for you then monitor with the apps. After a while, you will learn which foods and combinations will work for you. Also, are you getting enough exercise (cardio only for now) in? Good luck!

Leave denial from work?
sleevinpops replied to Mandat89's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You need to see if you can do short term disability. Check with your HR to see if it is available. You would receive a % of pay based on time with the company and earned time eligibility. -
Great Emmy! If you and jewel want to join a group that has several other sleevers, friend me at vban@charter.net, you can join our step challenges.

It is to be expected, the stalls that is. I have stopped getting on the scale, will check on my monthly new "birthday". Until then, just focusing on getting in my water, protein and 10,000 steps per day. I feel great, with no back or leg pain like before surgery. Not on my cholesterol, or high blood pressure meds either! If I'm stalled, I'll still take those results! It's all how you look at it, a great perspective!

Am I doing something wrong?
sleevinpops replied to strbryt78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry, its probably a stall. Just keep up with your protein, water and make sure you are walking. Try to walk at least 5-10 minutes every hour. Good luck. -
