  1. Yes, I thinl I need to try stepping up the workouts. I do get about 12k to 15k steps in daily at work, but for now thats about the extent of it. After working all day, coming home to get dimmer cooked for the fam, then cleaning up I can honestly say I am beat most days. Maybe ill get some extra wind soon [emoji4]

    Oh I completely understand!! I'm the same way that's why I love this workout, it's just 15 min. I might have to increase soon if I stop losing but for now it's going well.

    12-15,000 steps is amazing!! I don't get more than 5,000 with a desk job.

    Oh I thought I would never get under 200! That scale tormented me, 203, 201.6, 202.4!! It was toying with my emotions!!

    I workout 5 days a week on a TotalGym that I bought! It gives me a good cardio workout with strength training. I keep my feet in the air while I do it and it works my abs at the same time, REALLY works my abs. I've been working out for weeks now but only recently have I seen some real results like a smaller waist and less fat on my back/bra area. I started at a 22 and I'm down to a 12. I've still got a long ways to go but I'm starting to finally feel different which is great.




  3. Thats Awesome to hear. I am a slow loser, well at least I feel I am. It seems like I stall every 2 weeks for lile 3 weeks, lol. I am down 21 lbs. and am about 6 weeks out. Seems good, but I lost 13 lbs. in the first about 8 or 9 days. I am not letting it get to me though, I keep pushing.

  4. For everyone that is concerned about being a slow loser, don't give up hope! If you have slipped up and are struggling just keep trying to do better. I thought it would take the full 2 years to get 100 pounds off, but I think I might reach my goal by 8-10 months post op.

    My weight loss in the beginning was so slow. Like, it took months to lose the first 30 pounds. I stuck through it and have been trying to stay in Keto as much as possible. Yes, I'm human, I've made mistakes but I recovered quickly. This last couple of weeks the weight loss has really kicked in! I'm losing so fast, it's like my body finally woke up. I've already lost 19 pounds this month, 19 pounds!! I can't believe this is me now.

    Just hang in there! If I can do it with PCOS, Lupus, and hypothyroidism you can do it!! Don't give up no matter how slow it is coming off.

  5. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry there are people in this world who can be so cruel. If they weren't interested they could have just said no thank you and moved on. I agree with everyone here, join a group and be looking for women who aren't shallow horrible people. You got some great advice from everyone and I wish you the absolute best!

    PS. Even though I'm married, I can still say you are a handsome man and I know in time you will find that special someone. Keep your head up!!

I'm 3.5 months post op and I can't eat ginger, uncooked broccoli, lettuce, coffee, any raw veggies take lots of time so I don't have them often, shrimp, I couldn't drink Protein Shakes for the first 8 weeks, brisket or roast (even though they are soft they get stuck), anything spicy, I can do link sausage but not ground sausage, and scrambled eggs.< br>As time goes on I seem to adjust so hopefully in the future a salad will finally happen!



  7. Ah, come on... carbs may be sliding down easier than very Protein rich foods (they do, no question about that) but it's not like you're getting no restriction at all from foods like Pasta, bread or pizza so you can binge your way into oblivion the moment a carb manages to get into your pouch.

    Actually, I haven't eaten pasta/bread/pizza so I wouldn't know. What I do know is that when I lost my mind that day at the beach I was eating corn dogs, Cookies, tater tots and twinkies there was NO restriction (for myself) with those particular foods. I'm sorry if that doesn't register with you, and you somehow know the rate and capacity of which carbs land in my sleeve. I did eat an enormous amount of food, compared to what my normal day would have been, over an 8 hour period. It's wonderful if your sleeve restricts well with carbs but mine doesn't. And, I consider eating herself into oblivion by consuming an entire pizza at 3.5 months post op. Not all of us are the same.


  8. I seriously just wrote a post almost identical to this a couple weeks ago. I also had no restriction from the carbs and just kept eating like it was nothing. Lesson was learned and I've moved on.

    Carbs do NOT fill up the tummy like Protein and you can just eat, and eat, and eat with little problem. In the end, I realize I have to make better choices and plan my meals every single minute to avoid overeating. I'm also 3.5 months out and thought my restriction would help more but it didn't. I thought I was over the binging but I guess I may struggle with that forever. Just don't get too discouraged. I moved on from the day and I've lost 9 lbs since then. Just do better each day, that's all we can do! Good luck to you!

    He said there's no point to wait for what type of procedure?

    If you have hanging skin on your stomach he's right, that's not going to go away. If he thinks you've lost enough fat in the stomach area to give you a good result (as in you have a good amount of skin to remove with the progress you've already made) with a Tummy Tuck then he's probably right. Just because you aren't at goal weight doesn't mean you aren't ready for procedures depending on the circumstances.



  10. Actually being "big boned" is not a myth. It only becomes a myth when it is used as a reason for being 'overweight'. Being big-boned gives you a larger frame. Frame may affect you are 'perceived' , but doesn't really affect how much you weigh. The NIH has a guideline to help you check your body frame using wrist measurements (per height group for women). About 70% of the population falls between the medium frame.
    Having a large frame (big boned) has nothing to do with to do with bone density. Lower bone density will not affect the size of your bones. Just the concentration of a mineral in it.
    Again, a small/large frame is not equal to being under/overweight. It may just help you look 'better' while being under/overweight.

    Yes, I am big boned and it has nothing to do with my weight. When I was 5'4 and 150 you could see my hip bones even though I was still considered overweight. But my wrist size and neck I always have to order larger in, even watches. It wasn't fat making them larger, it was just my frame. I'm built like a softball player (which I played for years). I have very muscular legs even at my heaviest weight. I carried my weight in my tummy and top. I also have boxy hips. I'm more top heavy than anything. Skinny for me would be 125-135. At that weight because of my larger frame I would not like the way I looked. So I'm wanting to only go to 150. In fact, even my doctor suggested 145-150 because of my frame after they took all the measurements. But again, my frame did not make me fat, my fat did.

    However, there shouldn't be anything stopping you from being a certain size. But if you are comfortable with the way you look and have decided to stop losing, then do it. But don't sell yourself short by listening to other people telling you to stop. You choose: your life, your goals.



  11. I only ate them right after I switched to soft foods. Like I could get 3 TB down before I was full (they are very filling). Because I ate so little, I never noticed any gas problems. And if you are on a PPI after surgery, you won't need to worry about that gas. Overall, since VSG surgery I've not noticed gas but I am more constipated because of all the Protein and few carbs. I still have to take stuff for Constipation and I'm 3.5 months post op.



  12. This is just my opinion which means nothing, BUT, there are Bariatric clinics who recommend GENEPRO. It isn't "bad" for you in the sense of being a bad product. Now does it contain 30 grams of Protein, prolly not, more like 15-20. Is it pure protein, prolly not, but if you are eating a diet rich in protein it's not that serious. If your doctor is fine with the product and your blood work is fine then enjoy. I used it the first month with no problems but it was recommended by my doctor because I could not get Protein Shakes down until 8 weeks post op. It's a personal choice but in no way is it poisoned and harmful, just factually overrated perhaps. Your decision.


  13. Most insurances require a 2 year history so you might have to continue going a whole year for 2017 or they might take previous years before 2016. Cal and ask them exactly what the requirements are. Just explain the situation. Good luck to you I hope they take prior years.



  14. I have pcos and hypothyroidism too. What fertility treatments did you need if you dont mind me asking?


    I had fertility injections using Gonal F. Twice a day I gave myself injections into my belly for 2 weeks. Then I used an HCG trigger shot to release my eggs and we conceived naturally at home in the privacy of our own bed, no IVF or IUI needed. It worked on the first try. It was a long road getting to this point (about 3 months) and some additional surgeries to fix my septum. I had 2 eggs that fertilized (twins), but only one boy made it past 10 weeks to delivery. The other egg absorbed into my lining and was no issue at all, other than a sad mommy.

    As far as junk food in the house , I have a son with mental illness who uses food as a coping mechanism for depression. Heck I was too which lead me to getting the sleeve. But now my son (19) is severely overweight for two reasons. One, he is pretty much home bound and two, he was eating too much junk. SO post my sleeve surgery I started buying sugar free and other healthy Snacks for me and him. My husband can eat whatever he wants. We have a secret cabinet for his junk. But for my son, I want him to live a healthy lifestyle so got rid of junk. I understand why you need it in your household but maybe trying healthy snacks as a way for your son to coup. I know it's so so hard and I wish you the best but I just wish I had done healthy snacks years ago and maybe by son wouldn't not have this weight problem. He was always a thin child.     Thank you for your concern, but I think you are misunderstanding what we are using treats for. He's not using food to cope with Autism, we use treats as incentives to complete certain tasks. For example, if the speech and language pathologist is over and he reads a whole page in a book he gets an M&M for each page he completes. If he talks and engages in therapy he gets rewarded. If he completes all of his physical therapy (usually swimming) he gets a bag of chips. It's no different than a parent giving rewards like ice cream for good grades or skittles for potty training. The doctors and specialists are all on board with this plan and it has helped him open up.

    And he does have snacks that he receives more often that are sugar free like fruit snacks, Popsicles, and Jello. He only has therapy 3 times a week so there is total moderation in this process. I'm sure there was just confusion on what you thought we were doing for him, but I assure you he is very healthy and monitored closely by the doctors.

    I would appreciate from this point on no one commenting on my son or his eating habits because this is not about my son, it's about me. I know the replies are coming from a place of love and concern but I shouldn't need to defend my doctor approved therapy for my son.

    I do, however, understand how frustrating of a situation you must be in and wish you the very best of luck as you continue navigating treatment options for your son. I hope he has much success with the new tactics you have in place.



  16. I stall ALL the dang time, especially in the beginning. I stalled at 2-3 weeks for 3 weeks and once a month for the last 3 months. Just finally I'm kicking butt and losing! It's incredible! I've lost 13 lbs in just over a week. That's never happened before. I never lost more than 5lbs at a time before. It's almost like my sleeve and weight loss finally woke up and are working well for me so don't give up and hang in there. If you are following the plan it will happen!!



  17. I have PCOS as well with thyroid issues and I'm a slow loser. Honestly hun, I would never do this to my body to lose 30 pounds even if it saved me from being diabetic. You should try a low carb diet (the same as what you would be on after a sleeve). Also I had a Mirena put in and my irregular bleeding, acne, and little bit of facial hair (nothing compared to others but still) went away. I have been diagnosed since 17 and I'm 38 now. I needed fertility treatments to get pregnant but they were successful. Also, there is no guarantee you will not end up with diabetes even if you get to your ideal weight if it runs that strongly in your family. Please just seriously consider what you are risking for 30 pounds. Good luck on the diet and try the Mirena to help with symptoms.



  18. My doctor said that the body can change after surgery in relation to allergies. I had a horrible reaction to Tramadol after surgery when I was fine with it before. If you can pinpoint the problem you might find the solution. Or sometimes taking a simple over the counter allergy med like Zyrtec can help. Definitely talk to your doctor about it if it doesn't improve.



  19. I watched this one last night and I thought, so what...she lost. It's not a race. She was on track the majority of the time, is anyone 100% perfect? I sure hope not.


    Well see patients that size have less than a 5% chance of being successful and you have to stay on them to hold them accountable. Plus at their weight it's easy to lose that much weight, obviously for people that only need to lose 100 pounds that wouldn't be realistic. If you notice when she came back the next time she lost the weight she needed to which meant the only reason she wasn't losing was because of what she was eating. Plus she really needed that skin surgery and he couldn't do it until she lost the weight. But I have watched several seasons and some of them never make goal weight or they start gaining again. I wish my doc was more like Dr Now.
