  1. I'm about 2 weeks post opp and I'm literally ready to eat. Like I can't take it anymore. Has anyone tried mashed potatoes or very soft mac & cheese in their early stages of being sleeved? I'm about to ask my surgeon what I can eat. Even if it's hummus I'll be pleased. I know it's mind over matter but I'm sick of chicken noodle Soup and applesauce. How did you guys cope with the cravings? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Haha yes girlie thank you it's just a shame that when someone wants genuine help because they are not sure what to do they get put down and shamed instead. We all got these surgeries for different reasons and I found majority of these people's before and after pics..... they damn well know they shouldn't be talking sh*t. At all. Be humble and be kind to others because you never know who you're dealing with. People think it's ok to say things to others because they are behind a computer, cause they know they wouldn't in person. So if I have to be the one to humble them BEST BELIEVE I WILL LOL ! 7. Hi I'm about 9 days post opp GS. Haven't been able to really keep much down except half an ice pop per day and maybe 8 oz of Water. Met with my surgeon today and he sent me to ER. In ER I was offered applesauce and it was Gerber brand. Of course I couldn't eat it all at once but it stayed down and I didn't feel sick. I was also offered Gerber brand water. It stayed down as well. Does or did anyone else have to start off slow with baby products due to digestion? I thought it was a little weird at first but the apple sauce taste great and the water taste wonderful, very purified. I was drinking Poland Spring at first but I was able to pick up a few gallons of the Gerber Pure water since it can stay down without a problem. I didn't realize I had to drink atleast 48oz of fluids a day. Hopefully I can now that I have easier water to drink. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question

Has anyone had banana pudding about 2 1/2 weeks post opp? My mom made some and I was wondering if a spoonful or two would hurt my sleeve. It's way to late to contact my surgeon. Please be respectful when writing a support response. I wouldn't ask if I wasn't concerned. It's a very thin material but I just want to make sure the sugar won't do anything. Maybe it's not even worth the risk. But I do have apple sauce everyday and it has sugar, yet it has not affected me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question

Thank you Suzie, I had about 2 tablespoons. It took me 30 minutes to eat it. I was careful in case of anything and I'm actually satisfied, since I couldn't have anything for the Christmas dinner that was made, this made me very happy Thank you spirited one, I'm about 18 days post opp. It was not sugar free. But I deff controlled myself portion wise. Good luck with your journey, mine was a little hard my first couple of days I hope yours is going well Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    21 looking for journey buddies

Haha I totally understand! I went to my appointments open minded and actually not realizing how serious of a change this would be. Everyone get surgery done for different reasons. In my case I didn't have to do a liquid pre-op diet. The day before surgery I was eating pizza and wings like it was nothing! Now it's like crap.... I can't eat a damn thing so the transition is very hard. Sometimes I regret doing it, other times I'm very happy I did. I just want to stay healthy. It's deff something to look forward to but prepare yourself. I wish someone would've told me the first few weeks would be a little challenging Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Honestly you need to worry more about getting your liquids in at 5 days, I wish I did. I had to go to ER for dehydration. Try and get your liquids in! the tummy is healing so you can't get everything in from day one start slowly but surely you will soon get the liquid and protein amount in. Stay hydrated!! I'm freaking starving.

The head hunger is horrible at that stage. Call your surgeon as soon as you know he will be in and ask if you can progress to soft food. I had a friend that did that and he allowed it. If so, stick with things high in Protein like refried Beans, Riccotta Bake, soft eggs etc. Mac and Cheese and mashed potatoes are not ideal for a post bariatric diet. I did soft/pureed diet without mashed potato one. Once you start eating more 'real' food, the cravings and head hunger should go away. On another note, a positive attitude is everything in order to be successful with these surgeries. I suggest you do an attitude adjustment or you will struggle. Start by losing that huge chip on your shoulder. That alone should be a few pounds. Hahaha I think I'm content with the 30 pounds I've lost in less than 2 weeks for now, so the chip will stay right there Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Kicking myself over pizza bites

You didn't do any serious damage to your sleeve, these people aren't doctors. Call your surgeon and let him know what happened. Ignore negative comments and try to stick to your weekly diet. I know it's hard but it will be over soon, that's what I kept telling myself and that's what other positive supporters told me. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
