  1. Wow. I'm also 8 days out. I'm having a much different experience. I'm so tired and feel flu like. I'm having trouble getting my liquids down.

    Any advice you can offer?

The only advice I can offer is to just keep drinking all day long. I carry my Water bottle everywhere with me, even to the bathroom. I even take sips when I wake up in the middle of the night. I never had flu-like symptoms, so I am sure that is making it tough for you to keep drinking.

  2. I am on day 8, and I was cleared by my surgeon to move to soft foods. I never thought that I would be so happy to eat cottage cheese!! Some other small victories are that I am able to sleep on both sides, and not just my back now, so that makes for a better nights sleep. I can also drink with basically no restriction, which is great for getting in my liquids. I joked with my surgeon that he must have left my stomach in there because I wasn't having trouble drinking. Then I tried cottage cheese last night, and could only fit 2oz. Yay! This tool is working!

I returned to work today, which has been a bit exhausting, but it feels good to get out of the house and back really moving around again!

  3. Now that I am 5 days out, I can say that I am not having any problems getting my liquids and Protein in. My doctor uses a larger boogie tube, so I think this may be why I am not having trouble with liquids at all. I have had a very small bowel movement every day since day 3 post op (all thank to the miracle that is Miralax). I am able to sleep on my left side, but the right side is too tender. I am actually doing some laundry today and some other small things around the house. I am not lifting much, and bending is tough to do, but I feel like I am about 70% back to normal. I can't wait to get cleared for soft food (my doctor does not do a puréed stage). I really want to get my calories up to at least 600 or so, just so I can have more energy.

  4. @"Jazzzyjay", I was just telling my husband last night that I don't think my scarring will be too bad because it looks like they did a good job glueing them together. I am so glad they used the glue instead of stitches. I'm 5 days today, and would love to just move on to soft foods so I could get some more calories in right now. The smallest amount of activity completely wipes me out. The good news is that I haven't had to use any pain meds since day 4, so I am at least thinking clearly.

I am not hungry at all! I have to force myself to sip all day. I am so scared of getting dehydrated that I am really pushing myself to get my fluids in. It feels like a full time job!

  6. My surgery was 1/17/17, and I do not plan to weigh myself until 2/1/17. I want to get in the habit of weighing on the 1st of each month. I just don't want to become obsessed with weighing myself so frequently because I am hoping to avoid seeing stalls also. Plus, although the numbers do matter to me, I am really looking forward to watching the clothes sizes drop.
