To my understanding, Everyone who has weight loss surgery will be put on PPI before & after surgery.
However, they are causing severe damage to our kidneys!
With knowing this information, Will you still take them?
Me: I'm very concerned about taking PPI's....I have refused them so far but, I get my surgery date tomorrow and I know my surgeon will prescribe them to me.....not sure what do ???

My surgeon put me on one for first 30 days only. To keep acid production down as the stomach heals, after that he said only if needed.

So I am 11 days post all has been going well just really tired, a lot of acid reflux even though on prescription Pepcid. So my question is I am really sick of Protein shakes and was wondering if it is to soon to try a scramble egg? The dr. Said really anytime after 2 weeks is fine but interested to see if anyone else tried a few days early.

I recommend following your doctors orders and waiting a few more days. I did however get unflavored Protein powder to add to crystal light lemonade and that helped because I was sick of the sweet Premier Protein. I am now 6 weeks out and on soft foods and once again the shakes do not bother me. I was just sick of them.
It is only a few more days and honestly at each stage you will want to move to the next one early. Do not risk it and follow what the Dr said. It will be worth it.

My surgeon did not want us working out before two months. We could walk but nothing intense and I think weights are even longer to reduce the risk of hernia.

I had my period start two weeks early, only two days after surgery. It lasted two weeks and it was heavier than ever. 9 days later bam again and heavy again. I asked at my appt and they said it is because all the hormones in our fat cells that we are releasing. I am already over it.

C-section was worse. I have had 3 and struggled when having to engage abdominal muscles at all. I recovered quickly from my c-sections and never needed pain medicine once leaving the hospital.
The VSG pain was nothing compared. I actually complained more about a shot they gave me prior to surgery in my leg, it was sore and uncomfortable way more than the surgery site.
Good luck.

I was sleeved 12/13 and was told to make all food baby food consistency. My focus is suppose to be Protein so I am not eating any carbs and only adding broth or sauce to bring to the right consistency.
How much are you eating of each? I am only able to get about 1/3 a cup per meal

I had my surgery also on the 13th, but I have not had any issues at all from the start, my surgery went very well, no pain, no gas pains. I have been having trouble as far as trying non pureed foods. I really need some feedback, has anyone else done this?

I am on puréed foods until the 10th so I have no tried them. I have been doing well with puréed but still adding Protein powder to get meet my Protein goals.
My recovery was simple also. I did have some pain but nothing to take any meds for, just some discomfort.

You will get through this and be thankful in a few days.
Have you tried the gasX dissolve strips? Could be a combination of gas pain and sore from surgery.

I was required to stay two nights after surgery because I lived an hour away from the location of my procedure. Each doctor has there own criteria but the majority I have heard it is 1 days as long as all is well.

I had the sleeve and had minimal to no gas pain. I had mentally prepared for it and was relieved to have skipped that. I was up walking right when I got in my room and I walked every 30 minutes. I did have the dissolving gasX just in case.
Do not get scared. My recovery was great and way easier than I imagined.

I'm down 26 since surgery but I started with a lot to lose.
I started mushy foods this week and it's not going well. Everything makes me nauseous. I am disgusted by every Protein supplement and can't choke them down. I never liked artificial sweeteners and that has only gotten worse. For a while I could handle the unjury chicken Soup but now that makes me sick, too. I'm not getting enough Protein and I don't know what to do about it.
I'm even finding Water unpleasant. I remember reading about that from others and thought that would never be me. My whole life I've been a big Water drinker. One health issue I never had was getting enough water. It's weird but I always liked how water tasted. Now it makes me sick.
I'm getting worried. I'm not getting enough protein or water and I can't find a way to do so. I'm not hungry at all and feel worn down.
26lbs, that is amazing!!
I am using an unflavored Protein Powder, GENEPRO. 30g in one scoop. Really does not have flavor as mixes completely into all food I have tried as long as the food is not too hot. I was also over all the sweet and artificial sweeteners. This powder has been a life saver.
I have also had days where water has a weird taste. It is odd because I am drinking the same brand of bottle water and some days it just taste bitter almost. Those days I mix some lemonade crystal light into my water and it makes it easier.
I am never hungry either but make myself eat some because my body cannot heal without it. Keep pushing yourself little by little, it will get better.

It's my 'special time of the month' so no weigh loss here ....not to mention I'm sick as a dog with some upper respiratory stuff. I'm down 13 pounds from surgery morning. I got spoiled last week getting on the scale nearly everyday and seeing a smaller number!
Do not weigh again until you are well and your monthly visitor is gone. I know easier said than done.

December 13th sleevers!!
Lets all update and see how we are doing. I am trying to get a sense of what is normal, average, ect. I am 3 weeks post op today and down 16 lbs. I thought I would be down more, but seem to have stalled at day 13, losing only 1 lb in the past 8 days. Is this normal? Is this possible? My calories are between 600-800 per day. No issues with the Protein or liquids. Soft food stage for me, fish, yogurt and Soup. I know its crazy, but I was not anticipating a stall for at least a month or two. My surgeon said the first 6 months is where the weight will fall off, after that its up to me. Hoping to hit a milestone in January.
Maybe next week you will have a bigger number. 16lbs is still amazing and I think close to average. I am at around 20lbs since surgery. I am not sure how much you have to lose but my goal is around 100lbs total. The more extra weight you have the bigger your numbers will be. Keep going.

This is how I feel when my Iron is low. I am anemic and know the feeling all to well. Maybe get a drawn to check for deficiencies. Make sure you are getting your Protein and Water.
Hoping you feel better. Like previously stated you did have major surgery could be a part of recovery.

I was sleeved on 12/13/16 and it has been a lot easier than I thought it would be. I am quickly realizing this will be one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
I started my pre-op diet at 255 and did not lose a great deal on that. (My pre-op was not super strict, high Protein and very low carb two weeks prior) I weighed in surgery day at 250 if I remember correctly. Fast forward through all the boring recovery junk, which was mild for me in comparison to some I have read about. I am now on puréed foods, finally able to get all my liquids and Protein in and that is a full time job. I am walking close to 2 miles a day, hoping to build up to 3 in the next week. I am anxious to start soft foods on the 10th. Now the real reason for the post... I have lost 25lbs in 1 month and 1 day. 25 POUNDS!!!!
Excited for what is to come and looking forward to being released to do more cardio at my two month appt.
thanks for reading!!

I have Cigna also. Process was simple and straightforward. I had to complete a 90 day medical supervised program and have a psych approval. I saw a dietician, exericise physiologist each month and had to weigh in. I only saw the Dr. at the beginning of the 90 days and at the end. The staff at my Bariatric office knew my requirements and made them clear to me. My 90 days started the day of my first appt with dietician and weigh-in.

My team does not recommend carbonated beverages ever. They said statistics show those that drink carbonated beverages have a higher chance of gaining weight back.

My surgery is February 14 and I need to fly to Texas no way am I missing senior night my girl plays college bb. Please tell me I will feel good on March 1st.
I was fine 6-7 days out and back to almost normal activity within doctors orders by day 10. Make sure you plan for food intake and Water while traveling and celebrating. It is possible, the more you get up and move the better you will feel. Good luck!!

I am doing well. Progressing and steadily losing. Staying on track with my diet and working out. Focusing mainly on cardio but adding in weights. I am able to get 70 Protein and at least 70 ounces of Water. I am halfway to my goal weight and I am hoping to make my goal before the end of summer.
How about everyone else?
