    After update issues

Yes I'm having the same issue AND now I'm experiencing another issue, too... my posts (and the posts of others)... if longer than one sentence... cut off suddenly and end in a link that says "Bariatric Pal App"... so when trying to read a rhread, most of the posts all have a partial sentence and end like that, making reading them very difficult. Vaping !

You can find any opinion you want on any subject that you search for on the Internet. Scientific testing on vaping liquids has NOT been done, therefore there are NO actual facts regarding vaping available like there is for other products that have had years or decades of testing. My information is based on the fact that my husband makes vaping liquid... so I know EXACTLY what goes into the liquid and (other than nicotine) it is ALL food grade substances that are safe for human usage / consumption. Vaping !

No, sorry... there are none of those chemicals in vaping liquid. The base liquid is either vegetable glycerin or propelyne glycol (both are food grade) and the flavoring is all food grade as well (same flavorings they use for drinks, candies, etc... you can look them up, most are made by a company called Capellas). The only thing in there that is really bad for you is the nicotine and technically, not all vapers use a fluid with nicotine in it... many use 0 nicotine at all. That being said, if your liquid has nicotine, that is a no-no pre-surgery... step it back or cut the nicotine entirely... (most likely, your favorite flavor is made nicotine free as well). I gave up vaping 0 nicotine strength liquids the day before surgery and just never went back to vaping... the only thing I'd really worry about is if you are a heavy vaper, that's a lot of water vapor in your lungs right after a surgery ... and after surgery is a known time for lung issues involving fluid to occur... so if you can completely give it up... at least for a few weeks... you're better off IMO :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Anxiety over surgery procedure.

Yes they can help you out with anti anxiety meds pre-surgery while you are waiting to go to the OR. I had a complete meltdown in pre-op and held up the entire day's OR schedule for almost 2 hours. What got me through it was calling my very good friend who had the same surgery a year prior and she talked to me right up till I was about to get wheeled into the OR. It really helped. Maybe you could find someone to do that for you :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  5. I feel you. Almost 2 weeks out and I still crave food all the time, too. All I can tell you is to occupy your mind. Set yourself goals of how often to do your intake (I sip Clear liquids all day... but at 730, 1030, 130, 430, and 730 I add in a full liquid item like Protein shake, Soup, yogurt, etc) keeping it evenly spaced will help with how hungry you feel. Plus, take on a hobby or start a walking regimen or something... I make a point of getting 10,000 steps a day, minimum... so when I'm feeling hungry but it's not "time" for something specific, I walk till I get to the next milestone I need out of my 10,000 It's a struggle... but it is worth it and it will improve!! OMG Do I want food!

Yes, it is very funny how different they all are - I see people a week out eating small amounts of normal foo, but I am 10 days out - I have passed clear liquids and moved to full liquids (milk, yogurt, V-8 juice, grits, cream of wheat, oatmeal) and have 3 more days of this before I go to purees (baby food). Then I do that for 2 weeks before I get soft food (like soft scrambled eggs, tuna, etc) and I do that until March 14th. My surgery was January 25th and I go back to full food textures & options on March 15th.

    My new favorite yogurt

I must have the exact opposite taste buds as the rest of you lol I can't STAND greek yogurt of ANY kind or brand... it's so THICK and makes my throat feel, like, STICKY for some reason. Plus one tiny teaspoon and I feel full enough to gag. It's the texture... I just can't get past it :-( Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Logging water and food ?

I lost 11 pounds in the first few days after coming home... and then started gaining and losing the same 2 pounds over and over to the point I decided to only weigh once a week instead of daily. I am still on full liquids until Tuesday... in the meantime what I do is at 730, 1030, 130, 430 and 730 each day, I try to have something OTHER than Clear Liquids. For instance, a few spoons of yogurt, some Soup, a couple ounces of Protein shake, etc. The rest of the time I sip, sip sip! I do Water, crystal light, or sugar free popsicles to the tune of 40-60 ounces a day in between those times (remembering to give myself a break of no clear liquids 15 to 30 minutes before and after each thing that is not clear liquid, so I'm not filling up on water at "meal times"... cause that makes it harder to get my protein in). Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App And I do write it all down... my doctor gave me a daily log to use. :-)
  10. ... and I don't know about you, but I'm super excited to be eating tomato soup!! LOL My leak test was the day after my surgery, so I did Clear liquids from tgen until now... I'm now allowed "full liquids" so my day has been pretty exciting (by newly VSG'd standards lol). I had 4 teaspoons of runny oatmeal for Breakfast, 4 teaspoons of yogurt and 3 ounces of a Premier Protein shake as a snack, and now I'm sipping creamy tomato Soup for lunch. How is everyone else doing?? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    "Food" consumption

I was sleeved 01/25... I can drink Water, crystal light, hot tea, etc and eat a popsicle with no real feeling of restriction... I can also drink about 4 to 5 oz of something like tomato Soup without an issue, as long as I go slow and don't try to "chug" it... thicker stuff like pudding or greek yogurt I can't do more than about 2 spoonfuls. I'm not far enough along yet to have the other things that have been mentioned (I start purees the 8th, soft foods the 22nd and then March 15th I get real food again). I do NOT want to tell my dad.

My mom was like "oh, really? Well good for you... how are you feeling?" And then "you know that means you have to make a lot of changes so you don't make yourself sick, right?" She just wanted to know I was doing okay and make sure I knew what I had gotten myself into. She hasn't mentioned it since and agreed to keep it to herself when I asked her to. :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Who Are You?

I'm 44 years old and I am a former fraud analyst - I have been disabled for many years, but still manage to freelance as a web designer from time to time. I have 2 children (Ayla is 25 and Michael is 8). I also have a husband who is 35 years old and a former law enforcement officer. We have 5 cats (Midnight, Nala, Stache, Severe and Tiger Lily), 2 sugar gliders (Scout is 9 and Soluna is 8) and 2 dogs (Claude the Labrador is 10 and Pixie the long haired chihuahua is 6). We also have 5 grandsons (Trysten is 9, Dayton is 7, KJ is 5, Nathyn is 4 and Jason is 2). I live in North Central Florida - right in the middle between Gainesville and Jacksonville, essentially. I was born in Michigan but was an Air Force brat so we moved a lot when I was a kid - Maine, Alabama, the Panama Canal Zone in Central America, etc. - until dad retired to Florida in 1982. I lost my dad in 2014 but mom still lives in the same house they bought when dad retired. Since then I have lived all over the place myself - New York, South Carolina, Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, all over Florida, etc. Despite living in the sunshine state I hate the heat, prefer cool weather, miss the snow and hate the idea of getting into the ocean and lakes (I had no problem with that in my youth... as I aged I realized there were hungry things in there and I was likely delicious LOL) I do love scrapbooking, crafts, reading, music and movies. My weight has been an issue for me pretty much my whole life and I am very glad to have started my weight loss journey - I am determined to look in the mirror one day and see myself and I was "supposed" to look from the start!
  16. I remembered that you and I shared a surgery date... I'm so sorry to hear that things went so badly for you... I had been wondering how you were doing. I'm glad to hear you're home now - that usually helps me feel better - familiar surroundings and all - and I hope you continue to improve! Chin up! The hard part is over - your WL "tool" is ready to use and now you can just work it!

I do NOT want to tell my dad.

I told my husband and my 3 best friends... I did not tell anyone else until a week after my surgery, when I finally told my mom and my cousin... I haven't told anyone else and don't plan to at this point. It's my business, right? Same goes for you... it's your choice who you share the information with... just make sure your doctors are all informed... that's one time it's a disservice to yourself to keep it to yourself :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  18. Did your doctor tell you to crush your extended release meds? Because my understanding is that extended release meds lose their time-release abilities if crushed. My surgeon said cutting mine in half was about as much as I could alter it without losing its effectiveness almost entirely. Also, if your surgeon DID okay crushing it, I suggest putting it in something other than a clear liquid for swallowing purposes... like if you are on full liquids right now, you could try disguising it in yogurt or pudding to make it easier to swallow. Medications post surgery

My surgeon said if there was a liquid form of my meds, (or a liquid equivalent), I should have my scripts re-written for that... if not, I could crush them. Unfortunately for me, my medication has no liquid form or equivalent and because it is extended release, it also can't be crushed... so I have to cut it in half and do my best to swallow it with my sips of Water :-P It hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be, but a couple times I did have half a pill get stuck in my throat because I just couldn't swallow enough water to get it down all the way... had to cough it back up and re-take it. Fullness

I've been worrying about that too... I'm still on full liquids and don't have much restriction at all... and everyone says well wait till you get to the puree stage... but in my head, pureed food isn't much different in consistency than pudding or yogurt, so I don't know how I'll feel then (I do have more restriction with those things than with clear liquids, but really not a whole lot).
  22. I am also 8 days post op. I have lost 11 pounds... but... for the last 2 or 3 days I keep gaining and losing the same pound and a half over and over. I think it's going to be a little longer before we see much more significant weight loss... we have to recover from surgery completely and rid our bodies of all that excess Fluid and gas and get our bowels on a more normal schedule first :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  24. Today I am having like "waves" of heartburn off and on the last day or so. It seldom lasts long, but it is pretty uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it is related to gas (I am feeling just a little bloated today) or to lack of BMs (I had surgery the 25th... since then I had 2 very small BMs... one on the 29th and one on the 30th but nothing since) or maybe to starting full liquids yesterday... I wasn't very disciplined yesterday in how often I tried to get Protein in, or about how often I tried "new" things for this stage... it was pretty willy-nilly... but today I'm trying to get onto a schedule more like my pre-op diet schedule. So... can I take chewable antacids? Or is that a no-no? Anyone got any insight or experience to share on this happening? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  25. I'm a week post op and I'm glad you asked this question because I also don't have much restriction with most clear liquids - thicker stuff like jello & yogurt I'm done at 2 to 3 teaspoons - and my protein shakes I can't do more than 2 oz at a time (that could be the taste, though LOL)but water, tea, even tomato soup - just seem to go right down, no problem. I think most liquids move through the stomach pretty quickly (I've seen it in person on the monitor when I did my upper GI before surgery and my leak test after, LOL) but stuff with more "substance" or that is more "solid" stops in there to get digested so it's easier to drink than to eat.
