    Protein

Ask your nut, they have a ranking system for protein and how good it actually is for you. If I can find my paper I'll post it with the large list of protein options they've tested. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gaining weight!!!

Understandable! I would follow the meal plan and the doctors orders, post back when you hear from them, I am interested in what they think the reason for the weight gain is. Hopefully they will allow you to increase activity [emoji1] Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gaining weight!!!

I see, sounds like he has a good reason for the restrictions. Calling them in the morning and expressing your concerns sounds like a solid plan for now. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gaining weight!!!

Did he restrict you to just walking, or just no weight lifting? I'm still restricted to no weight, but I can swim, bike, and I've been given the go ahead to go back to my PoundFitness class. If you've not seen that, you should check it out! It's a lot of fun and is all cardio with some slightly weighted drum sticks(maybe a pound or 2 each). Gaining weight!!!

I don't know if it's normal, and I don't necessarily subscribe to the "starvation mode" unless it's a large loss of calories, which we've under gone. So perhaps it is "starvation" related. I can tell you that you need to eat, not for weight loss reasons, but for overall health. You could be holding water causing the 2lbs, and I would say that's likely it. How is your fluid intake? Gaining weight!!!

EAT!!! Do not skip meals, follow your post-op plan. My surgery was the 30th, I too hit a stall. Just keep up your activity and eat like you're supposed to. You can up your activity, but everyone hits a stall, just follow the plan and it will round out and you will lose again. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. First 4 days or so, I could not get but maybe 3oz of anything. I did not try for 3 shakes a day, and only got most of 1 in. It's more important to get water down. I got a no spill sippy cup to sip on all day. Just constantly be sipping small sips of water. By the end of the 1st week things we're getting easier. I was able to get almost all 8oz of a shake down and drink about 48oz of water, things get easier! Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. So I know I'm not the only one, but when I woke up from surgery the 1st thing I asked was "how did go? Am I all bypassed??" I wanted to hear it directly from my surgeon, as I thought " I only feel slight pain from incisions, they must have gone in and cancelled it for some reason." I've talked with nurses, anesthesiologist and everyone else that was in the OR with me and they all said it went perfectly!! I didn't see my Surgeon until this morning (day after surgery) and he caught me walking the halls and just laughed and said "well, you're up and smiling I guess you want to go home?" So I finally got to ask him face to face if everything went well and he said it went really well, no issues at all. So I'm laying here at home with no gas pain, have been able to urinate like 2 hours after surgery on a regular basis. No BM yet, but I've not had anything to cause one since the Magnesium Citrate cleaned me out before surgery. So I feel like I've not even had the surgery except the incisions, and the muscle pain from them going in and not being able to drink much. I guess I psyched myself out thinking there was going to be more pain, but it appears I've gotten lucky. Anyone else feel this way? Thanks for reading! Questions from a younger bigger man

Hey bud, just checking back in on this thread. Have you made a decision on getting the surgery? I'm at a week post-op and have gone from 427 day of surgery to 413 this morning! Yesterday I went out and hung out with friends for quite a few hours. Let me know if you've still got any questions. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Check with your surgeon. Mine gave me a restriction of 4 weeks, nothing more than 15lbs. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. They kept me 1 night after my rny. I fortunately didn't have gas pain or nausea, well I had nausea right after waking up but shortly after I was fine. I don't think my taste changed much if at all. They gave me popsicles, water, juice, broth, jello and ice. All of that went down just fine for me. Hopefully they let you leave soon! Anyone regretting this?

Regret? No I'm not regretting it. But I can tell you the mind game you play with yourself post-op is wicked. I'm 5 days out and just different things cause me to be either depressed, or worried constantly. I hate staying home with nothing to do when I'm feeling pretty good but I don't want to go out and over do it, the small things you don't expect will scare you, and then you will spend hours looking it up. The other day I was not able to pass some gas and had some pressure on my right side, thought I was going to die, went away the next day, but I was up checking my hear rate and temperature often. Currently I'm trying to have a BM and not have the tarry black leftover blood come out. It's common for your first few post-op but again, I'm being obsessive about it and just want that to go away because it can be serious. Days pass and things get better, I slept on my sides last night and got a nice 12hrs in. It was great! Everyday I feel overall better! So i don't regret it, but I'm having to fight myself everyday. Feeling normal, seems odd.

Glad I'm not the only one feeling that way. I just woke up and my bowls are making a ton of noise!! Seem like they're waking up from the anesthesia finally. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Liquid diet breakdown

Pre-op is usually determined by your bmi. I had a 14day modified liquid diet, was able to have 3oz of Leah meat and 1/2 cup of veggies along with yogurt and SF pudding, and fruit cups. The diet is mainly to shrink the liver, Lewis only just do a better job. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

Need dating advice after weight loss

Well 1st of all you should get rid of this kind of thinking. Unless you mean like when you're 60 you might regain. If you think this way and even give it a chance in your mind, you will allow it happen and you shouldn't! Secondly, no you probably don't need to admit to him unless you feel like you want to. It seems like most people on this forum are against sharing their journey, and that is fine, you don't need to explain it to people. But then there are those of us that want the world to know how we've decided enough is enough and we wanted to change our lives so badly that we sought-after a potentially life threatening surgery to give us another chance. Even though I'm one of those people, I would not bring it up as a talking point, I woul talk about it if it came up some how. Hope that helps! And Congrats on your journey! June sleeve buddies?

My surgeon said 1 week minimum, but I'll be taking 2 just to be safe. I have a desk job, so I could probably get away with 1. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Day one of LCLR diet.

Here is mine, I was supposed to be on it for 14 days, then they said "you need to loose 20lb so let's move it back to June 2" so now I'll be on it for 30 days. I'm on day 7, the first 5, days were bad, not as bad as the full 100% liquid diet meal replacement I went on last year for Medical Weight Loss. Once you get in the routine you get use to it. June sleeve buddies?

My original date was 5/19 so I started the 14 day pre-op on 5/2, they called me on 5/5 said I had to loose 20lbs before surgery to have it at the surgical center, that being the case they decided to move be back to June 2nd! Disappointed, but staying strong! Going to be on the pre-op for 30 days instead of 14 Good luck everyone! Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein bars?

By then you should be back to a normal diet and a protein bar should be fine so long as it's not jam packed with a bunch of sugars. You would just have to try and see how it settles in your stomach, I'll attach my "5th week and beyond" page in case it's helpful. Sent from my Nexus 6 using BariatricPal mobile app
