  1. I am 2.5 weeks and only did full liquids week one and puréed week two which also included some foods like eggs and tuna. I am in my third week and can eat just about anything high Protein including chicken, turkey, sashimi, steamed veggies, etc. Had my post op appointment today and doctor reiterated he wants my calories higher like 600-800 per day and mostly regular food and can supplement with a shake if needed to hit Protein goal. He prefers an approach getting his patients on real food quickly. So far so good as I have not gotten sick once just felt really full once or twice. My portions are still tiny. Oh and he said cheese is great which surprised me.

  2. I am 2.5 weeks out and had my post op appointment today. I am eating chicken, turkey, sashimi cut into small pieces, etc. like you my doctor believes in getting you to regular food as quickly as possible. I have also had edamame and broccoli that was steamed with no issues. Maybe there is a fish choice. My doc also allows cheese now so you can nibble if they have some appetizers like a cheese display.

  3. I think I need to do the same. When I weigh in the morning, it looks like I lost about 8 pounds so far and by night I am within 3 pounds of my surgery date. It is really weird as the morning weight keeps dropping (yesterday showed almost 10 pounds off since surgery) but then by night was within 3 pounds of surgery date. So depressing. I was sleeved on 12/19. I think I need to only weight once or twice a week for a while.

  4. If no shakes I suggest Isopure Protein Water as you will need more calories to sustain long walks safely. I was also sleeves 12/19 and don't officially start purée stage until Monday so for me now it's Protein Shakes, Isopure, cream of wheat which I flavor with vanilla Protein Powder and milk with cinnamon, yogurt, Decaf tea, blended split pea Soup, hummus, and I did try blended egg whites with turkey and the texture was gross. I have not been able to take any broth for a few days now as so sick of it. Monday I can add more blended or purred foods. Still hard hitting 60 grams of Protein per day as I usually hit 45-50. Also getting to 64 ounces of fluids is tough too. My weight loss has been low so trying to get more in day by day. I also see doc on 1/6 so hopefully that goes well.

  5. To be honest, I feel that the US should allow the sleeve surgery at lower weights than 40 BMI. I struggled with weight gain for so long until I was over 40 BMI and finally qualified plus another 6 months of pre-op weight program. My doctor feels the surgery is the best treatment for obesity and it is sad that the BMI has to be so high as I now have several friends stating they wish they could have surgery and yet they are a few points lower in BMI. Hopefully in this case the doctor will make the best decision for the patient, however I do think that 40 BMI is too high as the threshold.

  6. My nutrition plan allows for steak cut oats in about 2 more weeks. Mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes are also allowed only during puréed stage and then they state only in moderation. popcorn completely natural with no butter is listed as a healthy grain snack for way later on. The rest are all no's on my list. So looks like every nutritionist is different.
