  1. I had my surgery in December 2016 and I've lost 132.6 pounds so far and I'm 8 months almost 9 months out and I'm definitely 100% already looking into plastics lol. I had very large breasts went from 52j to a 40DDD and the lose skin on my chest is already a huge problem. At the moment my stomach isn't too bad but there is a lot of visible skin there and on my arms. I won't actually get my plastics done until my weight plateaus and my surgeon gives the ok (I'm guessing 18-24 months post op?) but I'm someone who likes to plan and get an idea of costs so when I am physically ready I'll be fiscally ready as well.

I'm currently 63.2 pounds away from my "weight goal" and 78.2 pounds away from my surgeons goal.

  2. There's many factors that will affect your weight loss after surgery. I won't pretend to know what all of them are, or why some people lose quicker than others.

I am at 2 months today. I haven't weighed for about a week (just returned home from holiday travelling and I'm still in bed). However, at 7 weeks out I was down 56 lbs.

I'm 32, female, started at 250 and a BMI of 36. So my BMI was on the lower side for bariatric surgery, which would usually mean slower weight loss. However, I lost more than 50% of my total weight to lose in less than 2 months.

I don't work out. I eat ketogenically, meaning not simply low carb but ultra low carb and high fat. (Obviously high fat only as a percentage of my total intake, I really don't eat enough of anything to be eating high anything).

I eat meat. My diet is about 80% meat, 20% low glycemic index vegetables. I eat no fruit, and no packaged frankenfoods. I am not diabetic and have no known health conditions other than being overweight.

I'm still on puréed foods, but I plan on eating ketogenically once I can keep food food down. I've done a Keto diet before and that's the only way of eating that myself and my boyfriend feel is actually manageable and realistic for us. Plus I play rugby year round in a woman's club, and I'm hoping with a keto diet I'll have enough energy and stamina to play!

  3. Hey guys I was sleeved 12/5 hw 350 surgery weight 333 current weight 310 and I'm 5'7. My family is planning a trip to Costa Rica mid march and while there id love to be able to go on adventure tours (zip lining, white Water rafting, horseback riding) the weight restrictions for most of these things are 275-250 pounds. Is losing 60 pounds in the next two months (75 days) an unrealistic goal? Has anyone been able to do it?

I'm in Denton! And that's great we should definitely get to know each other! The first month (two week liquid diet pre and post op) I hear is the hardest part I would've loved a friend along who had gone through it before.

  5. Hi everyone. I've been posting a lot lately but I just wanted to share my very first NSV!! I travel regularly and need to use a seat belt extender while on a flight for about the past year or so. This weekend I took two flights, one on them those teeny tiny planes, and both times I didn't need a seat belt extender!!!!! The seatbelt is still a little bit snug but I'm soooo excited! I got my sleeve just two weeks ago on 12/5!

  6. Starting weight was 356

    Current weight 176.3

On the 25th of October it will be 16 months since surgery for me!

I think my skin heeling quickly has a lot to do with my age, (19)

Seeing people that I knew from high school that don't recognize me at all is my most favorite thing lol

  7. Hi y'all!

I'm Rose I just got my vsg and duodenal switch on 12/5 so I'm at the beginning of this journey. I'm 21 and looking for friends in the dfw metroplex to go on this journey with. Or even if you're not in the DFW I travel a ton so we can be friends too. I have a support system here, but think it'll be better to have friends in the same boat as me. Tell me about yourselves (:

  8. I had a feeling similar to this after all the gas and pressure was gone. Luckily I had a one week post op with my surgeon to get my drain removed, he said I should just try getting in more Protein and so far that's helped me. My situation isn't exactly like yours though because while I was feeling "hungry" I was still not able to get my liquids down and a lot of food smells would make me nauseous.

  9. Hello,

I'm Rose, I'm 21 and live in Denton Texas. I just got the sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch done on 12/5. The surgery was a lot more painful than I originally expected. I was supposed to stay just overnight and ended up staying in the hospital for four days! And I had to get a drain put in that wasn't removed until 12/13. Since I've been home I'm still struggling with getting in all my liquids and Protein and I'm already supposed to start the purée diet Monday. I'm really anxious but excited about my journey and everything still to come. If anyone wants to be my friend so we can help each other along I'd greatly appreciate it. Anyone else get the vsg and ds done at the same time? Anyone else in their 20's? My nurses and doctors kept commenting on how young I am.

  10. I got my sleeve on the 5th. I had to get a cocktail for anxiety because I was sooo nervous as this was my first surgery. I honestly don't remember anything after that until I woke up in my private room. I was in so much pain, I know it's different for everyone but man it hurt. Everyone said it wouldn't be to bad, for me I couldn't get up and walk around on the first day like I was supposed to. I took it slow and I stayed in the hospital until I felt comfortable. I went home on the 8th or 9th I can't remember. I still take liquid codeine for pain management when I need it.
