  1. That's really interesting, I definitely feel like my stomach can hold more than many people describe in the bypass forum. I've only lost 14lbs since my surgery on 3rd December. Saw my surgeon last week who said we have to be realistic and weightloss will be slower for revision surgery but that I should focus on exercise.

Kind of wondering if it was worth all this money but gotta stay positive, what's done is done!

I am making healthier choices, it's just not quite as dramatic a change as I imagined.

  2. This is so refreshing to read! I've been worrying that I'm eating too much in comparison to what people on here say they eat. I'm 5 week out and my calories have gradually risen to 1000-1300kcal a day. I am working out quite vigorously (spinning/body combat/aerobics) 5 times a week though, I don't think I could do this on 600 kcals!

  3. Gonna be honest when I had my band it didn't change my tolerance at all - though obviously a good idea to eat before going out.

The band doesn't affect your ability to absorb alcohol. I've recently had a band to bypass revision and I understand that this will change my tolerance.

As for drinks, vodka is one of the lowest calorie drinks - maybe mix with a diet soda to reduce the irritant affect on your stomach though? Depends how you do with carbonation mind....

  4. I've been off from my surgery (band to bypass revision with complications - 7hr surgery) on the 3rd December.

The first week was pretty rough and my head was still quite foggy from the anaesthetic and pain meds. However I've recovered really quickly and think I could have been back in work after a fortnight if I had to be.

It's really nice knowing I'm not back till the 3rd Jan though, gives me time to focus on exercise and getting my food/vitamins routine sorted before my life gets hectic again!

  5. I'm 3 week out and so far I've been using specialist Bariatric Vitamins that I'd bought prior to surgery. However, my surgeon suggested there was no need to have these and he recommended some for me. The Iron he recommends is 200mg ferrous sulphate, and the Calcium is the AdCal-D3, which is calcium carbonate.

Doing my own research I've read that calcium citrate is much better absorbed and there are more gentler iron supplements I could be taking that are also better absorbed. I just wondered what people's views were on this?

  6. I was in surgery for 7hrs due to complications and I felt the same, especially the hot/cold flashes which I think might be to do with all the hormonal changes that go on after surgery.

I'm 15 days out now and feeling much better. My advice would be if you are still taking painkillers try get off them as soon as is comfortable - i felt much better once i had stopped mine xx
