  1. You must be psychic! I was just on the slow lap bandsters' forum and saw your name, and thought that I'd send you a message.

I'm doing all right, though it's pretty cold here--well, for California. I walk on a track at work, but only went twice this week. I have a treadmill, and have gone on it only once, last Sunday. Maybe I'll go tomorrow! LOL!

I'm getting a fill Thursday, and I will have had my band for a year on the tenth.

    How are you?

    Debbie

  2. Hey there!

Thank you for the message. I know I could be doing better, and some days I'm really hard on myself. Other days I'm just grateful that I've gotten this far, because I know I couldn't have done it without my band.

    Let's keep in touch.

  3. January is a great month, isn't it? How are things going?

Hopefully I will see you at a support meeting soon.

  4. Hi Chrissee,

At almost nine months out, I still think the lap band is the best thing I could have done for myself. I knew from the beginning that I would have struggles with food, but that's nothing new. I've been to OA, had therapy, and now attend support groups sponsored by my surgeon's office. I also think it's true that a lot of people who are doing well don't necessarily post anything, simply read and post if they think they can be of help.

Good luck whatever you do. Feel free to pm me, or send a message if you'd like.

  5. Marissa, I think you should introduce yourself to the rest of this community. You'll get a lot of support, and it really helps to have people who are at the place that you are, preparing for surgery. There's even a forum for people getting banded in June. I want you to get all the benefits you can.

  6. Hi Alcine,

Just thought I'd write a quick note to see how you're doing.

Over all, I'm doing all right. I go for my second fill on April 23rd. Most of the time I make healthy food choices, but I'm always tempted to eat more than I should, or things I shouldn't. I went to a birthday party Saturday and had cashews and a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. It was wonderful!!!

I'm exercising, going on the treadmill, and walking on the track at work a couple of times a week. People still comment about how good I look, which is nice, but I know I have a long way to go. I try not to think about that, though, just focus on how much I've lost. I'm not always successful.

Let me know how you are. I'd love to hear.

  7. Hi there! Just thought I'd write a quick note to see how you're doing.

I go for my second fill on the 23rd of this month. I don't weigh myself, but the last time I was at my surgeon's office I'd lost 34 pounds. I'm exercising, and trying to make healthy food choices, which I manage to do most of the time. People are still commenting on how good I look, which is nice, but I still find myself wanting to eat more.

Over all, I guess I'm doing all right.

Let me know how you are.

  8. Hi!

I just read your post about the German chocolate cake! I loooove that stuff!

I really know how you're feeling, and I understand what you're going through. It's really hard for me sometimes to make myself push away from the computer and get on the treadmill. And it's right here in my house! But I think it's probably easier than going to the gym after work, so I hope you get the eliptical.

I had something that caused me to gain 5, count 'em! 5 pounds, but it's gone now, and so will yours. It's like someone said in your thread, and someone told me the same thing: this is a time for healing. I was also told to try not to worry too much about gaining.

I know it's hard, but when you're depressed please feel free to send me a message, even if it's just to say that you feel awful. The wonderful thing about this site is that we don't have to go through this alone.

Take care and be gentle with yourself.

  9. I'm glad your steri strips came off, and I'm also glad yousaid you were still a little sore around the port area. Me, too, though it seems to come and go.

Most of my scars I can hardly tell are there, but the incisions near my port I can still feel.

Let's here it for mushies! I'm just so afraid of gaining weight, but I know that's to be expected--well, I've read that it's common anyway.

Keep me posted on how you're doing.

  10. Hi there!

    Thank you for checking in.

I'm doing great. I took off my steri strips and the only place I can feel scars is near my port. Otherwise you can't even tell.

How are you doing? Are you still on full liquids?

    Let me know.

    Debbie

  11. Hi there! Thank you for checking up on me! I'm doing pretty well, can eat mushies, and had my staples out. I'm not having any pain. How about you? I'd do this again!
