    Cheaping on Pre-op diet

Keep telling yourself this part is temporary! You can do anything for a few weeks if you believe in yourself and the future you want to have! Show yourself just how tough you have it in you to be. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Have you called your surgeon?
  3. My surgeon didn't like my blood pressure (mid 130s over mid 80s every time I went to see him) because he said it can go haywire during surgery if it's not controlled beforehand and that's dangerous. For me it was anxiety. He still went ahead with it. After surgery it's really good. My last visit just a week post surgery it was 106/70. Do they have you on blood pressure meds? If not, they absolutely should to give you time to adjust.
  4. I can lose weight like a pro, but never ever in my whole 45 years of dozens of diets have I ever been able to keep it off. I've lost 120, 100, and 170 pounds plus more 10-30 pounds lost diets than I can count and always gained it back. A 100% personal failure rate is why I thoughtfully considered and went through with surgery. So far so good. I'm sorry you're unhappy, but this is lifesaving for many people.
  5. Happened to me too. It'll stop.

    PCOS hair and period issues

Maybe people are different, but sometimes I think a few people had it not work for whatever reason (maybe the tech didn't really know how to work the machine, didn't have it high enough, they didn't go for the prescribed number of visits, etc.) and word gets out it doesn't work for PCOS sufferers. Go to someone good, not necessarily cheap and try it. I had it done by a nurse in a plastic surgeon's office because I didn't trust that the local waxing joint knew how to calibrate the machine properly. So glad I did it!

    Calorie Confusion

I think we can mangle our metabolisms by staying at ultra-low calorie levels for too long.
  8. I remember saying over and over that it hurt to breathe. It did! Probably the gas. Then I remember crying quietly, but I can't remember if it was because I felt crappy or because I was being emotional over my first surgery. Then an hour or so later I felt much better and napped. I was walking a few hours later and begging to go home 24 hours later.
  9. My hospital gown was voluminous! Several of me could have fit in it. So I had no trouble being fully covered and it was comfortable. Bring slippers with rubber soles so you aren't picking up germs on fuzzy bottoms.
  10. Recognizing the unhealthy behavior for what it is half the battle. Good for you for that and stopping it!

    Bad stick

The pre-op nurse did it. It hurt, but I lived ?. The weird part is the vein under the stick point still hurts a week on. Pumping fluids through must be hard on the vein.
  12. Yes to@Newme17. Once you have been weighed at your first surgeon's appt, you can start losing without worry of insurance impacts. In fact, I bet your surgeon would be thrilled as it makes surgery easier for him if you lose weight.

    PCOS hair and period issues

If you have dark hair and light skin, laser hair removal is awesome. I have PCOS and had it done maybe 15 years ago. It didn't come back.

    Cheated

My problem was a result of me being able to eat a large pizza on my own with room left over to eat other things, not from eating one thin slice. I think you did well. I hope for a life with moderation and occasional small amounts of things I love.
  16. I think about how much eating it would hurt at this moment (i'm a day further than you!).
  17. Do look up the increased rates of alcoholism in wls patients. Transfer addiction is real. Whether they are doing it because they can't eat much so they drink or it's because our bodies metabolize it differently after surgery is still a little unclear. For some it can be a very slippery slope.

    Post Surgery Needs?

The hospital gave me a binder. I didn't have to buy one. I'm on protein shakes for 3 weeks, so no need for any vitamins as those have everything I need for now. Check with your doctor about the patches. They can be questionable as far as effectiveness. Have loose fitting pants and underpants! My incisions are in a row right where my pants waistband normally hits. Ouch.
  19. It sounds like it's absolutely working. You need to adjust your expectations.
  20. Your doctor's advice trumps all. If he said that was what you should get, go with that.
  21. You may not be able to take the chewable ones early on. The strips dissolve completely, but the chewables may put material in your sleeve that your doctor doesn't want there in the first few days.

    Stomach Band or Support

I liked it. The hospital gave me one.

    Medicine

I don't see why not. We were given antibiotics in the hospital.

    Celebrations?

You'll be able to do the same in the future, you'll just be taking leftovers home...
