    Single Incision Gastric Sleeve

Yes, I had single incision surgery in Mexico on Dec. 5th. It went very well. Anything in particular you'd like to know?

    Sips. Sips. Sips.

I learned to take a mouthful of liquid and turn it into several swallows. Strange the new techniques we are learning!

    Can't tell weight coming off

The surgery fixes the body, but not always the mind. Its' easy to get caught in the web of obsessing about self-image. Talking to a counselor or therapist can help.

    Ulcer after sleeve surgery

My surgeon had me on Omeprezol from Day 1.

    Question about incision sites

I am so scared of popping something open, that I am being ultra careful about doing anything remotely strenuous. I am 25 days from surgery and still taking it easy. The chores will have to wait. This first couple of months is about giving my body the chance to heal properly. My incisions are healing well. Keeping them clean and protected.

    Procedure in mexico

I had mine in Tijuana. Went great, no issues and I had good care. Very clean.

    Day 1

Just keep sipping...that is a priority for you right now...to stay hydrated. Sucking on ice might help too. Water can be hard to get down at first. Take small sips and I found taking a deep breath can sometimes relieve that stuck feeling. Mixing a little bit of juice in water made drinking a lot easier for me. What you are going through its normal. Every day will get better. Hang in there!
  10. Your experience is very similar to mine. Thanks for sharing!
  11. My surgeon said to start taking Biotin on my 11th post op diet day. I'm not exactly sure how much to take. Anyone else taking biotin? How much? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
  12. I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. Have you seen a dietician or nutritionist? Perhaps there is some sort of probiotic you can take that would help? They might have some strategy that can help you. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
  13. I just saw a nutritionist today and she suggested Magnesium, 400 - 800 mg daily as one tool to help constipation. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

    Yet Another Naysayer, Grrr!

Yeah, people just don't understand that the surgery is the only thing that will work for folks like us who have lost and regained so many times. I plan on not telling many people just because I know I will get sick of explaining and I don't want to hear the negativity. When people notice the weight loss, I will just say, "yeah I've been working on it." Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
  17. I went from Mexico to New Zealand a week after surgery. I was given a post op diet by my surgeon, but I have had to take responsibility for my post op care. I spent a lot of time researching what to do and also made a list of questions for the surgeon. In New Zealand, I have made an appointment with my GP here just to let him know I did the sleeve and have an appointment with a bariatric nutritionist to make sure I'm on the right track. Good luck with your journey and do some homework ahead of time. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

    Drain area

I had some burning sensations around my incisions, but not severe. It was just part of healing. Now they itch...also part of healing. I guess if it doesn't get better in a day or so, or if you get a fever, get in touch with your doctor. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
  19. I boiled carrots, potato, a few thin slices of ginger root and half a bay leaf in 16 oz of seasoned chicken stock, until the vegies were tender. Removed the ginger slices and bay leaf, then whizzed the soup in a blender until smooth. OMG, it tasted so good. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid diet

That's kind of a mean thing to say...that you could do it on your own. Yeah, I did it on my own so many times I lost count, only to gain it back plus more. I am not like some other people, I needed the surgery. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
