    1 Month Anniversary

I have not taken that particular product. I take 10,000 of biotin for my hair every day, per my doc's instructions. From what I have read, not everyone experiences hair loss, and for those that do, it is temporary, so some good news there. ps. Congrats on your one month!

    When does appetite return?

I'm just over 6 weeks out. Not hungry at all. A friend of mine who had the sleeve also said she didn't feel hungry until about 6 months out. I occasionally feel a tiny bit lightheaded or nauseous, but not too bad. I'm still taking in less calories than I am burning, so that may be why. Plus, healing from surgery does talk time.

    PMS is still a Beyotch!

I secretly harbored an unrealistic hope that my sleeve surgery would stop my period. Not a chance, lol. Aunty Flo still making monthly visits!

    Yay for you!

Does anyone gets out of breath easily?

I'm 6 weeks post op and 49. I seem to have an 'off' day now and then when I feel a little breathless and kind of weak. During those times, I give myself permission to rest more and go back to basics...enough water? Protein? All in all, I feel lighter and have more energy. 28 lbs. down.

Help! Does anyone have excessive burping?

6 weeks out and I burp quite often, esp during and after eating and drinking. They are much smaller burps than what I used to do...kind of little lady burps. I won't be winning any burping contests.

    Back in Hospital

Gosh, 10 days. That's along stay. Hang in there...you'll be better soon.
  8. ps. I found chicken broth heated up with a couple small bits of fresh ginger was really yummy. ..just don't eat the ginger
  9. I would say come up with a plan to maintain your post op eating white at school NOW...before you get there. Set yourself up for success by making sure you have everything you need. The dreams are only dreams and the tough parts will pass. Stay the course! You've come this far. You can do it! It can be overwhelming to think about what you will do and who you will tell about the surgery. Your medical stuff is private; you don't have to tell anyone if you don't feel like it. In my experience, most people don't really get it, and I don't have the patience to explain all of it. If anyone asks (and most of the time they don't), you can just say you have a medical issue...and you'd rather not talk about it. Best of luck to you. You got this!

    Freezing....all the time!

My thermostat has gone down too, but it's a bit of a relief, as before, I was overheating all the time.

    Bowel movements

It's nice to have a place to talk about this stuff, lol!
  12. Your post was very helpful to me. I started eating a few carbs as I hadn't had them for so long, but the good news is, tomorrow I can refocus myself and improve. I just love these forums for that reason...to remind me that I'm not alone in all of this.

    Bowel movements

Trying some "poopy tea" tonight to see if that helps.

    New to the group

I'll be 50 in may. I am just over a month post-op and I've lost 25 lbs. It's been a good experience so far. I'm eating about 1/2 to 3/4 cup , 4 or 5 times a day. Still on soft foods ... that feels safe right now. Great to see all the rest of you 'almost 50's'
  16. It's one month today since I had my sleeve surgery. Feeling good!
  17. Some of the gas is from the CO2 that is trapped in your abomination cavity. The surgeons use it to inflate your abdomen during surgery. In addition, your intestines are 'shocked' from the surgery and the result is lots of gas. So you are dealing with 2 types of gas. The GasX will only help the intestinal gas. Your body absorbs the CO2, but it takes several days. It's uncomfortable, as those of us who have been through it can attest, but the good news is, it gets better every day. Walking helps a lot too.

    Single Incision Gastric Sleeve

I think it may be a relatively new way to do the surgery. It cost me $1,000 more to do it that way. You still end up with 2 incisions...one main one at your belly button and another smaller one of to the side for the drain. I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time for $700 more. You may want to consider having your gal bladder out at the same time, as the statistic is 30-40% of sleeve patients end up having trouble with their gall bladder. I didn't want to risk having to have another surgery down the line. Talk to your doctor. I hope this helps!

    Please pray for me

It WILL get better...every day. Hang in there!

    Please pray for me

My surgery was scheduled for 9am...had to wait until 4pm. I think this kind of delay is normal, but certainly doesn't help the nerves!

    Mexico

I went to Tijuana and had my sleeve done by Ponce Bariatrics. I had a good experience, even though I can't say surgery is fun. It's a pretty quick recovery. I have had no problems, but I've checked in with my GP and have saw a bariatric nutritionist when I got home to make sure I'm doing everything right. I started at a BMI of 34, relatively low, but I did this to prevent diabetes, which is rampant in my family. I had a single incision sleeve and they were also able to take out my gall bladder at the same time. I paid $6,000 plus an additional $700 for the gall bladder.
  23. Mine was runny and gross for about 14 days after surgery. Then it started going back to normal, although much less of it.
  24. I'm guessing by now you have had your surgery. How are you doing? You don't need those unsupportive people in your life...you have us!
