2 months post op 35 lbs

Good for you! Isn't it nice to be smaller?
  2. It seems there are some that have less pain than others. I had a decent amount of pain, but it was also my first major surgery and I haven't had kids, so I figure I don't know what real pain is, lol... but the first few nights out of the hospital, I was really grateful to have some Tramadol...something that was okay for me too take at that stage. Without it, I was too uncomfortable to sleep, or walk much, so it really helped with both. After about a week, the pain had subsided. I hope you are feeling better soon! It's no fun to be in pain!

    Discomfort After Surgery

You will be able to handle it...just take a day at a time, or moment at a time if you have to. My mantra during those first days was, "every day I will feel better." And you will! Anti-nausea and pain meds worked wonders. I am 7 weeks out and no throwing up!

    Do not enjoy eating

That is so good to hear. I was just asking myself that question today. I am about 7 weeks post op and almost everything I eat doesn't go down smoothly. And I just don't enjoy food as much right now. I was wondering if I'll ever enjoy food again and so am comforted by your post, thank you.

When can you travel after GS

I flew a week after surgery...12 hour flight. Not my ideal situation, but would have costed a small fortune to change the ticket. I ordered a wheelchair assist and so glad I did. My hubby handled all the suitcases and was such a hero. Also wore support stockings, stayed hydrated and got up a lot.

Chest pains 3 days post op

I had that too. I am 6 weeks out and that feeling is much better, but I still get it a little bit, especially when I try to eat too fast. I burp a liitle too.

    Questions

Yes, I had lots of gurgling. Also, I had good days and bad days with the eating too at that stage. At 6 weeks now and things are better, but still occasionally feel a little off. It takes a long time to fully heal, so just take it as it comes and rest when you need to. It's okay to give yourself extra rest.
  8. 6 weeks out. No puking, but I really pay attention to my sleeve when I'm eating and stop when it says "stop!"
  9. Having trouble drinking Water is a common issue. I had it too, but it's much better now. It kind of feels like it's getting stuck and hurts a bit. It may help to take smaller sips. Another thing that really helped me was mixing water and apple juice half and half. That seems much easier going down. I also found taking a deep breath when I got that 'stuck' feeling helps a lot. It will get better every day! Be patient and kind to yourself. All the best to you!
  10. I was self pay. Had single port sleeve surgery in Mexico for $6K and they took out my gallbladder at the same time for an additional $700. 2 nights in hospital. No complications. I'm 6 weeks out and have had a smooth recovery.
  11. It's so normal to be nervous. Just take each step as it comes. You're going to do great!

    SCARED OF DEVELOPING GERD!

I quit gluten 3 years ago which 100% solved my reflux problem. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago, was on Omeprazole for 4 weeks to protect my stomach while it was healing, but have had no occurrance of reflux at all since I stopped the Omep. I am still gf. It's not hard to do once you get used to it.

    All sleeved! Thank you everyone!

    Great to hear! Bravo!

    Spooked

It is so normal to second guess yourself and have doubts. I could relate to wondering what the heck I was doing as they wheeled me into surgery! I've had a few thoughts like that since. But overall, the good far outweighs the bad, especially when the weight comes off and you feel lighter and more energetic. I am 6 weeks post sleeve and things are great. All incisions healed to the point I don't worry about them, and able to eat and drink pretty well, just a lot less and have to go slow. If you listen to your new sleeve, it will tell you what to do and what you can handle. Oh, and have not thrown up once. Stopped taking Omeprazol after 4 weeks and no heartburn. Sorry I'm talking so much about me. I wish you a successful surgery and a great new life! You got this!

That was a perfect question to ask! I was wondering the same thing. So grateful for this forum!

    Surgery February 7th in Mexico

I did my surgery in Tijuana on Dec. 5th with Dr. Frayre/Dr. Ponce. It went great. I had very good care. Surgery is never a walk in the park, but sleeve surgery is one of the easiest to get through, and a fairly quick recovery. I wish you all the best!

    Gluten intolerance/allergies?

Been gf for 3 years and stayed that way since my sleeve surgery. Just don't want to risk it. I'm used to it anyhow.

    I had a meltdown :(

I found that mixing juice and water half and half really helped...it seemed to go down easier than plain water. I still do it sometimes even tho I'm about 7 weeks out. You're doing great...and we all are here to support you.

    Feel weird dining out

Maybe ask for the to go box first thing...that way you could take some off your plate and hide it away.

    Stomach Incisions

6 weeks post sleeve op and incisions have healed enough that I stopped putting bandages on them and now just Vit. E oil several times a day to help the scars. Feels good to be at this point with my healing.

    Medications after sleeve

I take hypo thyroid meds and also antidepressant. I got sleeved on Dec. 5th. I have noticed absolutely no changes...everything is fine. My doc has ordered a blood test to make sure all my levels are good.
