    What's your routine?

Some of my favorites are boxing and yoga. Boxing is excellent cardio and works on flexibility and range of motion. Yoga helps with flexibility and is great for mental focus. And believe me it will me a work out! I recently started using trx straps which allow me to focus on body weight. Do make sure you have protein soon after any strength training to help your body build back your muscle. Don't be afraid of weight training. You won't get body builder big. I highly recommend getting a trainer to write a program for you and to show you how to do it safely. Proper form is key to prevent injury. I'm pre op and currently doing three days a week of weights with some interval cardio (two to three sets of weights then a minute or two of cardio then back to weights) and then two days of cardio only.

    "Fat Clothes"

I'm pre-surgery. I went through my closet and gathered all the clothes that are too small and don't fit now....but will fit in a few months. So excited to be able to wear some old favorites again!

    Pre-op diet while on cruise!

I love cruises. What cruise line?. Food on cruise ships is plentiful. In the main dining room one of the secrets to cruising is that you can order multiple items from the same course. You want two soups = no problem. At the buffet of course it is self serve. There should be a beverage station with basic coffee, tea, and water. They may not have skim or 1% milk. I recall seeing yogurt at the buffet as well. Getting enough protein with the options on board may be a challenge. I would recommend taking some protein powder to add and possibly some shake mix to make your own. It will take some extra focus to avoid the temptations around you. Try and enjoy. Do lots of walking around the ship. Take a refillable water bottle and protein shaker to keep you a you go around the ship and on land.

    why no soda??

My Dr says no carbonated beverages or straws because they can allow extra air into stomach which may create extra gas and pain. Neither Dr nor NUT said eliminate "fake sugar".

    Kinda embarrassing

I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish I had more to share. My father had a similar problem after some health complucations and used a memory foam pad to sit on. He then gained some weight back and things returned to normal.

    Sleeve vs bypass

My first choice is sleeve. I was leaning towards bypass but then I talked to the NUT and she got me thinking sleeve is a better fit. Then I saw gastro and she said that with a bypass there are difficulties doing future endoscopies and having access to all of the digestive system. So that definitely moved me to sleeve. Now my endoscopy showed some signs of acid reflux irritation so I fear my surgeon will only do bypass. I go in next week to see her...so just have to be patient. Traveling after surgery

I talked to my surgeon about international travel and she was looking at 6 to 8 weeks as her recommendation. Buy a ticket on Southwest Airlines if you are concerned about potential cancellation. They don't charge a fee to cancel or change flights. The value of your ticket is good for a year from purchase. And they have a very friendly customers of size (COS) policy. When you arrive at gate before your flight ask for a second seat under the COS policy. They give you preboarding and a paper to put on the seat next to you that says seat is reserved. CA - Bay Area

Anyone post op who uses BART? I'm trying to get an idea about recovery and going back to work. I'm not sure if BART is conducive to getting back to work after a couple of weeks. I go from Pleasant Hill to Montgomery. Door to door is about 1 hour 20 each way.
