    3 week stall

It is happening to me...lost weight for first two weeks, then stalled, then lost a couple of pounds, now stalled again as I wrap up week 5. I'm finally clear to eat real food starting July 5th so I'm hoping that will help me out. I'm also finally feeling like going back to the gym but gently. So, that should also help. Home alone?

I flew my sister in to help me. I was concerned about having to go up and down stairs and caring for my dog. The stairs were no problem at all. Bending down for dog food or changing water bowl was a problem. Also laundry...bending down and in to get the wash out and into dryer gave me problems. So I was glad to have the help for those things. If I had to do it again I don't know that I would have asked my sister to take time off work etc...for the couple of days. If you have a good friend or neighbor who can help out for a bit every day or two that would have been more than enough. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. The post op contrast is a special water soluble one...it was about 3 ounces and I recall that we finished without me finishing all of it. I thought the pre op stuff was nasty. This wasn't as bad. I was surprised how uncomfortable I was as a passenger in the car even a week post op. I got a bit nauseated which is not my normal. It went away around week 3. 5. While on a cruise I did weigh myself. But I didn't care what the starting weight was. I knew it wouldn't match my home scale. I just weighed in every 3 or so days to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Comparing my new weight to the starting weight helped me avoid anxiety that I was totally off plan. Cruise was 16 days plus travel time etc....21 days between Dr office weigh ins and I lost 4lbs while on vacation. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vitamins

I agree that if you can take other meds in pill form then you can do your vitamins. I plan to stick with the chewable for a while. I am still on a couple of extra prescriptions and I get sick of taking pills. I used to be able to swallow all of my pills at once but I can't do that yet post surgery. I actually enjoy my mixed berry chewables so I'm sticking with them for a while. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Worried About Wife

I would try having some flavored water in the house. Whether it is crystal light or mio drops or vitamin water etc...having some options might inspire her. If you have the info you may want to get some advice from the person who did a psych consult before her surgery. It sounds like she may also have some potential eating disorders developing. Thank you for reaching out. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I added pb2 to either chocolate or vanilla protein shakes. Also peppermint. Another option I liked was cinnamon. I didn't care for broth either so I just bought soups and strained them for their broth. I never found a good yogurt. I was allowed SF pudding. I also bought some of the protein drinks you can buy on some websites. My favorites were the cran grape and the pink lemonade. Adding ice to some if the shakes and blending them gave me some small chunks I could chew on [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I have also struggled since switching to foods and having to space out food and water. I just keep at it. I'll even set an alarm as a reminder I can start drinking. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

  19. I have not had your experience. I've heard the same advice about artificial sweeteners so go back and look at your labels. I would definitely be calling or emailing my Dr. I hope you have a great graduation ceremony with your family Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Pain

I had surgery Friday, discharged Saturday and took last pain drugs on Tuesday. I described the pain like having done a monster ab workout at the gym. Sharpest pains were getting up and down from chair or toilet or bed. Going upstairs was fine. Standing for longer periods would make me sore and tired. My incisions then started itching so I used ice packs to help calm them down. My dermabond glue is coming off and the new skin is sensitive so if I bump into countertop or something I get a small reminder but nothing that requires drugs. 21. Take it out. If a stone gets out the pain is huge! Not something to mess with. It is very common. My mother had hers removed after a few months on an optifast diet in the 80s. My father had his removed about 10 years ago not connected to weight loss. My sister was in pain for years before they figured it out. She had hers out about 5 years ago. Based on family history I had a scan and my gallbladder was clear. So, I'm on meds for 6 months to prevent them during this rapid loss phase. High fat foods can trigger the attacks/pain. Good luck...let us know how it goes. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. After surgery i had pain drugs which i took for 3 or 4 days. I was also given an anti nausea medication which I took for just over a week. I also have the acid reflux drugs which I'll take for at least 90 days. I also got ursodial to prevent gallstones. I'll take that for about 6 months. (I'm the only one in my immediate family with a gallbladder. We did an ultrasound and there was no signs of gallstones so we left it in). No shots to take home. Just need support

It does get easier but it was never easy. I added cinnamon or peppermint to vanilla to help with flavor and variety. Also adding ice in the blender helped by giving me something to chew. I got headaches in the beginning and you need to drink more water to help flush toxins etc...from your system. Be prepared to get up frequently to use the bathroom. If I got hungry I had something...i was allowed Jello and SF popsicles. Keep at it. Stay focused. I kept repeating better liver better surgery as my Dr said shrinking the liver was a big part of this pre op diet. And when you need us...check in. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app
