    Crying on the bathroom floor

Was it a complaint or was I expressing to you how your post made me feel? I didn't bad mouth you, I didn't insult you or put you down; I was hoping to have you reflect on how your posts may be received without you realizing it. I chose to send a private message to avoid "public" drama, but to still have a discourse with you. It is sad that I had/am having an emotional outburst on a message board? Yes, yes it is. I wish I had someone here with me to vent to, but I don't.

How bad was the pain for you?

Hello, I'm also a full-time student. I went back 19 days after my surgery. Personally, my pain only began lessening at 6 days PO. Improving, but definitely still there. No lifting things, no bending over. I used my monkey toes to pick stuff up. Definitely walk religiously to help with pain management. The biggest issue was, and is, how tired I am. You'll more than likely be on only liquids when you go back. The body is putting a lot of effort into healing. I can *almost* guarantee that you will have brain drain. You won't be allowed caffeine or sugar to help you through it. Even now, it's sooooo hard to care about school! My opinion is to wait for a longer break. Is it possible to schedule it a couple of days before spring break? You could get Dr's notes, but you probably have exams... Then again everyone is different, maybe you'll be fine. I'm also graduating in May. Congrats, @@JersSlimDown!
  3. Morning, all. I am 2.5 weeks post-op. I'm down 1.8lbs since last Saturday. One. Point. Eight. I'm so disappointed. I'm feeling like, "Great.. Even effing surgery won't work for me." I'm pissed that I measured out my meals. I'm pissed that I did all the math of counting calories and adding Protein. I'm pissed that I walk regularly. I'm pissed that I paid a lot of money for this.

    What Was The Final Straw

I was in a department store looking at costume jewelry. I overheard two women, early twenties, talking to each other. The one said to her friend, "If I was as fat as her, I'd kill myself." It was so hurtful. Never knew how cruel people could be right to another person's face - at least not since middle school. I felt sub-human.
  6. Sounds great! Could you have imagined such a thing 4 months ago?

    Coffee

My plan says decaf coffee is OK. I put one packet of the instant stuff into a shaker bottle along with a vanilla or caramel premier protein. I also make "ice cubes" from the shakes and dump a few in to keep it cool. Pretty good!
  8. Today was my first day back at work. I can't believe how tired I am! I thought I was doing pretty well, but goodness. How long after your surgery did you notice your energy increase?

Tomorrow is the day! Any advice

Walk. Be the number one walking champion. Let all the nurses forever know you as "The Best Walker I Ever Had" and may they remember you for decades.

    Smooth Move

It's good stuff; gentle. I used it while on that terrible Lemonade fast. I'd rather a cup of senna tea then a dose of chemical laxative.

    Onederland!

How exciting. Great job! I may pass out from joy when I get below 200lbs.

    Pureed food stage

I had a sleeve gastrectomy on the same day. My first "pureed" meal was skim ricotta with salt, pepper, and unflavored Protein powder. YUM! I tried scrambled eggs last night and my tummy was not happy; it felt like lumpy cement and made me nauseous. My second meal was hummus with, you guessed it, unflavored Protein Powder. Good luck, becky1178!

    So the honeymoon is over?

Off Topic Forums are meant to facilitate discussions. Should things become repetitive, then it may be time for a break. If every newcomer used the search function, there wouldn't be many new posts. I use the search function often. I start threads because I enjoy the interactivity.

    Weighing.

Once a week. Any more than that would be too emotionally taxing for me.

    Soft foods?

Hiya, @@sleeved.tekee! I was sleeved on 12/21/16. My question is what are some things you may have tried at this point? I am also on the pureed/soft foods part of healing. I've had skim ricotta (my favorite), Greek yogurt, strained Soups from Panera, hummus, pudding, popsicles, tuna with mayo. How did u cook it? The only thing I've really cooked was Eggface's Ricotta Bake - I wasn't a fan, personally. However, I add unflavored Protein powder to everything to ensure that I am meeting my protein goals. How did ur stomach handle it? I've not yet been nauseous, vomited, or overeaten. I measure everything and run my phone's stopwatch during meals. One minute between bites, I chew as much as I can stand to, for a max of 15-20 minutes of mealtime. This way I know my caloric intake and macros for the day. No guesswork.
  16. It is interesting how everyone's plan is different. The literature provided to me by my surgeon's office says that all foods are allowed after week 5 (within reason of course). It provides guidance on what nutritious eating is and the proper way to chew/eat, but there are no "outlawed" foods like nuts, seeds, etc. Regardless, I'm choosing to stick with more easily digestible foods for a while. Zero complications for White Sale, please and thank you.

    Vitamins and suppliments

I agree with visionmom77. Get the soft chews (taffy-like), not the chewables.
  18. I choose the soft chew vitamins, not the "chewable" kind. The soft chews are more like taffy/Starburst consistency. I take iron, calcium citrate, and a multivitamin this way.
  19. Since rec is legal in your state, I say absolutely try it. Oxycodone is bad news. My suggestion is to go to a shop and tell them what you're looking for. They sell strains with a higher CBD content specifically for pain control. A nice CBD oil or tincture may be exactly what you need. Doesn't hurt to go ask - find a shop with good reviews.
  20. In my adult life, I've never been thin or even close to it. In fact, I've never been below 200lbs. To those who had never been thin or normal weight before surgery but now are, how is your world different? I'm particularly interested in how other people treat you. Family, friends, dating? I'm kind of terrified, honestly. I am accustomed to being ignored/invisible; I won't know how to interact with people. It was my safety zone.
  21. I'm a light user of medibles. Maybe 2-3 times per month. I'd rather have a few milligrams over a mixed drink any day. My questions are, how is your funtion with marijuana after being sleeved/bypassed? The same as before. I just chill at home, do housework, etc. after I take some. My goal is to relax, so "functioning" isn't really what I care about, lol. Were you able to use it for pain relief/sleep aid directly after surgery? Since I don't smoke it, I had to wait to use it. I used a tincture about 14 days post-op; I waited until my puree food stage just because. Are you less tolerable? Do you get the "munchies" still? Because I use edibles, it's very hard to find sugar-free stuff. I've scoured the Interwebs looking for where along the GI tract THC is absorbed; some say the stomach, some the intestines, others both. In my opinion, with very limited research, the edibles don't have as intense or as long-lasting effect on me than before the sleeve gastrectomy. I never got the munchies from edibles. Did you smoke it or take an alternative route? I find the pleasure from orally ingesting it is superior to smoking it.
  22. I've read so many stories, here and elsewhere, about people divorcing after have WLS. Very interesting. Still nervous about it all, but excited, too.

    Crushed by today's weigh-in

I appreciate all of your kind words. Spent the morning meal prepping for the next few days. Maybe it's hormone-related Water retention? Let's hope so. I'll find out next Saturday...

    Crushed by today's weigh-in

Thank you, Paul12677. It's weird - intellectually, I know the scale will keep going down so long as I do the work. Emotionally, it still such a blow to see the scale not move this week. I'm trying to look at it and remind myself that I've lost 16+ pounds since surgery. Still shocked that the scale didn't move more. I'm trying to keep my chin up, I know what you're saying is true. Going for a walk to clear my head.
  25. Good evening, all. I'm on day 2 of the puree/soft food stage, PO day 16. I'm doing my best to listen to my new stomach for feelings of being hungry before a meal and being full afterward. They feel the same right now - it's rather bizarre. I've been measuring my meals and following the diet plan. Anyone have a similar experience early on? Did it resolve itself? Any tips? Thanks!
