  1. There are a lot of different opinions on Vitamins, I say focus on getting in vitamins that work for you, there are chewable ones that are bariatric. Most vitamins made me sick prior to surgery except the Gummy ones, so that is what I still take because they are the only ones I can get down, I guess I will see what happens with my blood work next month, if my counts are low anywhere I will try a patch or liquids

  2. You are only 4 days post op, give yourself a break, yes you might be a little light headed, how is your Fluid intake? I had a long stall after surgery, your body is swollen and heeling, so don't step on the scale for a couple weeks, focus on getting your fluid and Protein. The first few weeks post op are hard but it should get easier

  3. I think this is something I would discuss with a surgeon or a nutritionist who works with WLS clients. Some people have an easier time then others with fluids post-op. Given your jobs I think you face some unique issues that would have to be evaluated. I would think you may end up with a longer post surgery recovery time at minimum. I know for me, I do pretty good with fluids now about 3 months post but I don't think I could even do 1 12oz bottle of Water at once.

  4. I had a couple week stall after surgery as well, it did end. Sometimes your body just has to adjust. You may not be consuming enough and your body may be storing as well, I would talk to your nutritionist and see if they can give you some good targets. I know for me I drop better when I am on real food and not just shakes. Also watch your Fluid intake and push to increase that, it helps. Oh and try to avoid reading the how much everyone is loosing threads, everyone looses at different rates and when in a stall it can be super hard to read about others dropping huge numbers quickly

  5. My immediate family knows and just a few friends but my coworkers don't know and I don't do things like post on Facebook about it. My coworkers know I am cutting carbs, seeing a nutritionist and working out, but I don't share the surgery part. This is my journey and I wouldn't lie if someone asked me directly but I don't need opinions about any of it. The only people that matter to me in that are those who are closest to me. My sister told a few people I wish she would not have and now they tell me stories about all of the people they know who failed with surgery or they comment about what they think about what I do and do not eat, so I minimize who I listen to in these cases

  6. I have heard at least 6 weeks you are still healing. My fear with popcorn is the kernels, you wouldn't want to get that stuck in a still healing suture line. I know at times if I am eating too fast I get from satisfied to overfull in one bite. Are you getting all of your fluids in? Are you getting in enough Protein? Both of those can help with hunger too because it keeps you fuller.

  7. How big is the bag of popcorn you are eating? Are you cleared for popcorn at 4 weeks post? Popcorn is one of those foods that I can overeat without issue, it goes down easy for me. If you feel out of control with it my best advice is keep it out of the house. It sounds to me like you may want to try eating slower, also remember that at this point your nerves are still healing so you may not be feeling as full yet so you need to monitor your portions

  8. Ok I went to the movies today and admit to having a couple handfuls of my sons popcorn and I will say I barely felt like I ate anything, first time I have had it in many months. I am 7 weeks post op and have tolerated most foods. It wasn't added butter or salt and I was super surprised at how easily it went down so I can totally see how people say it is a slider food, I could have easily munched on more of it. Luckily I stopped and focused on drinking my $5 bottle of Water, lol.

  9. 3 bites of pizza is not cheating and I am sure others will disagree with me but let's talk reality. If you think of foods as bad or cheating then I feel you will eventually slip worse then 3 bites. You met your Protein goal and it sounds like you made mostly good choices today. You will have days where you have those three bites of pizza or a piece of cookie or a bite of cake and you know what? that is ok as long as it stops at three bites and as long as you don't have a whole day or whole week of poor choices. Focus on what you did right today

  10. I had that post-op, gasX strips helped a lot and I found I handled iced or warm tea better then Water. It went away for me about 2 weeks post-op where I could drink without a need to burp or pain. For some reason plain water which I never had an issue with was a no go for me until just this last week (7weeks post op now).

  11. I was able to tolerate that type of stuff one week post-op. I didn't really have nausea after surgery, you will feel more restriction as you move to more solid foods. You will feel more pressure as your nerves heal, be careful about over doing it because it can be easy to test things when you aren't feeling as much and that can be dangerous. I didn't feel a lot of pressure at first but I definitely knew when I was full and needed to stop, I can't even describe the feeling I got with it. Now at 7 weeks post-op I definitely feel full and discomfort if I have even a bite too much.

  12. I'll be honest, I don't get the point of juicing, why not just eat the fruits and veggies? However I know a lot of people who do it and feel great about it and it works for them. My only caution is to watch the fruit a bit because you can go high on carbs with lots of fruit and because you can tolerate more liquid then solids, you could be drinking more calories then you mean to.

  13. Wait...you had  salad? I'm so jealous! I've been craving salad like crazy, but I can't tolerate it. I made the mistake of trying a few bites of lettuce about 8-9 weeks out and that was a hard no. Now I'm afraid to try again. I can tolerate most other things well. Anyone know how long before I should try again?

Yes, I have tolerated most foods fine except citrus, I had a sip of lemonade and my stomach hurt so bad. I am very glad I am tolerating lettuce because even pre-op salad was one of my favorite foods and I was missing it. I was given the green light to eat most anything at 4 weeks post op was just told to try things slowly and add new things one at a time. I know a lot of people can't tolerate it so I am super lucky. I don't eat much at a time and I cut it up really good and make sure to chew very well. I started with making a mostly cucumber salad with small diced peppers and onions and such and just added a little lettuce and slowly I've added more lettuce.

  14. I am 6 weeks post op and I am doing fine cooking for my family. It was hard when I was so limited the first month but I was cleared to eat as I tolerate and now I am pretty much able to cook normally. I just eat the Protein and veggies for the meals I cook and my husband and nine year old may add some carb items if they want them. My husband is actually loving it because I make scrambled eggs with veggies and cheese most mornings and he likes having something more than Cereal like we use to.

I was one who questioned the surgery at first but I am so glad I did it. Yes you still have to deal with the emotional stuff, that doesn't go away but I feel more in control now. I gave up diet soda (this was not easy for me) and I rarely even crave sweets or junk at this point.

  15. I agree with others, some days I feel like I can eat more than other days. Sometimes it depends on how good I am with liquids, obviously can't eat as much if I had too much Water too soon to eating. Yesterday I got in probably 3 oz of chicken and a couple bites of salad and today I had two bites of chicken and 3 bites of salad and I was done but today I kept up my water better and probably drank a couple swallows within 20 min of eating.

  16. That is about what I lost month one and it feels so slow considering I dropped over 30 in my two week pre-op. I am just 6 weeks post now and things are starting to drop again but I am so nervous about even recording the drops. I keep telling myself that just keep doing what you are suppose to be doing and allow your body to adjust as it needs to. It is hard to see posts about giant drops when you are working just as hard for even little ones, so some days I just skip those posts so I don't try to compare
