    Telling kids?

I was very open with my 9 year old son about my surgery. I discussed the diet stages with him and have included him in the process where I can...he likes to taste test my Protein shakes for example. This is just my experience but I know as a child I always knew about the things my parents didn't discuss with me, I would go as far as listening at their bedroom door, listening in on phone calls, etc to get the information. I had more anxiety when they tried to keep a secret. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. You also may want to check your Iron levels, for me that is a big key because even before surgery I was anemic, so I have to watch that closely Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Ok, I have to make a Costco trip this week for household stuff like TP, but I was thinking about other things I may want to try or stock up on there, I am only 10 day post op so only about to start puréed food but I was going to do some label reading for planning for later stages. I am just curious, what are your Costco finds that you love post surgery? I already have things like Premier shakes on my list but please share what you love from Costco. 4. I was off all pain meds within 4 days, I had my surgery Dec 30th. After that I was a little sore but not bad enough to justify the meds, my nurse said I could switch to Tylenol at that point for soreness but I didn't take it. At this point, I am not even sore unless I push on the incision spots Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. My husband, he has been super supportive but helps me stick to plan when I need it or just listens to me as I spend hours looking for new recipes, prepping meal plans and making him taste test things for me. Him and my son give me hugs when I'm discouraged or upset and make me laugh at myself . I'm lucky to have them Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein shakes

Syntrax Matrix are my favorites, I've tried others and I can stand them but they aren't great and I am sooo sick of them. Now I am just making my own with unflavored Protein powder, yogurt, etc. they are so much better then anything I have purchased Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Popcicles

The first couple days after surgery everything made me burp, it's the gas, gasx strips helped. I never vomited and it did go away a few days later Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Can I see a menu please?

I made an awesome Protein shake for lunch today, super simple, it was Cherry Dannon light and fit, with almond milk, a half packet of sugar free hot cocoa mix, a tablespoon of sugar free cool whip and a scoop of protein powder. It was super yummy and creamy. It had lots of protein and made me super full. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    NEED SUPPORT :(

Hang in there, I am 10 days post and luckily only had to do clear for 3 days, I am on full liquids which is hard too. I think it is hard when you are at home because there is less to distract you. I wish I was at work because then I would have more distractions. When I was on clear my sister got me some awesome broth from a Thai place she goes to, maybe try to find or make some really flavorful broth, that might help. Try to keep busy and drink as much Fluid as you can to keep full and yes try some clear Protein drinks if you are allowed that may help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Costco trip

I have been drinking the premier shakes somewhat, they are not my favorite but they are good in a pinch, if I am home I am making my own shakes but I use the premier when I go to work Thanks for some of these ideas all, I'm excited to go explore and see what I can find that I haven't tried Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Dry skin!

Remedy skin repair cream with olivamine, I have very sensitive skin and lymphedema in my legs so I have to use moisturizer all of the time. This is one my physical therapist used for my massage treatments and I haven't used another since. You can buy on Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    4 days out of surgery

I was allowed those things on full liquids which started at day 4 post op Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. What you are eating doesn't sound too bad to me, it sounds like you are getting your Protein in. I start purée in two days, I found the ricotta bake recipe I want to try. I am a bit leery of puréed meats so not sure how well I will do with that but we will see Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Homemade roasted red pepper and tomato Soup, I am still in full liquid stage and the picture is one of my leftover containers, I ate about 1/3 cup thinned with a little milk Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I can drink Premier but not my favorite and I find caramel and strawberry both have a very artificial taste. My favorite is Syntrax Matrix, I got a bunch of samples of various varieties and flavors and I highly recommend doing that because everyone's tastes are different Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Day 4 Post op

I am day 9 post op and I agree that I have had hunger, I found Greek yogurt helped a bit more than a shake, I don't know if it is just that it is a little thicker Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How many bites.

I am on full liquid but was not given a specific quantity. It's strange but I just sort of know when I am done, it's not a full feeling like I used to feel but there is some sort of trigger that I am feeling. I am probably eating between 1/4-1/2 cup of soup and that is about where I get the feeling Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Overnight, my surgery was 11am on a Friday and I was home by Saturday afternoon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I just found out that I have to go to a work conference at 3 weeks post op. It includes attending meals that are all provided. My boss and coworkers do not know that I had wls, they know minimal details that I had a surgery and this conference is the week after I return to work. I will take some food with me and pre-plan as best I can but anyone deal with anything similar? I will be transitioning from purée to mushy soft right at that point. 20. Well I wouldn't base anything off a single reading. I would suggest getting a bp home monitor and watch your levels for a few days, if they continue to be high, contact your OB. Of course poor eating choices can impact your blood pressure, so try to get back on track with your eating and see how that impacts your bp. At this point you need to focus on your baby and if your bp is high you need to work with your OB to monitor and correct if needed. Both you and the baby need you to be as healthy at this point as you can be, I have seen really bad complications in pregnancy due to high bp, please monitor it and don't take any risks. 21. Thanks all, I am driving as it is only 2.5 hours away, so at least I can stock my car. Good reminder to ask to make sure I have a mini fridge, I know the city I am staying in, so I know there is a walmart next to my hotel, so I can run there if I get in a pinch for Protein shakes. I'm going to ask the hotel what they offer for their Breakfast, I am hoping for scrambled or hard boiled eggs. My sister found mini crock pots on Amazon and I was thinking I can get one and warm some soup in my room if I need to. I will make it work somehow but it may be a long few days. 22. You might try GasX, i had the same thing and that is what my nurse suggested and has worked pretty well Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Last Supper

Maybe this should be night before pre-op diet? lol I think I had pizza on that one, the night before my surgery I had Clear liquids, I think it was apple juice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Hang in there, I was also sleeved 12/30, luckily I don't have the nausea. I keep thinking I am fine but little things I find hard, like I thought I would just start dinner for my husband and son tonight and the smells were sooo good and I was sooo hungry. My son made microwave popcorn after school today and you know how that smell travels the house. I think it is hard now because we still have a long journey ahead but just hold on for a few weeks and I think as you start feeling better and the weight starts to drop you will see the value of your decision.
